Payday Wishlist | Beauty Buys

Tuesday, 30 April 2013

Hi Ladies, so I've seen a lot of these payday wishlists going around and I thought it would be  fun to share some of the beauty goodies that I would like to get my hands on when payday finally rolls around.

Firstly, I would love to get some of these Clarins Lip Perfecter lipglosses in either 'candy shimmer' or 'petal shimmer', both are lovely girly pink colours and I think they look so wearable with most make up looks. I also love the look of the applicator, it looks kind of like a sponge which I think is a great alternative to the usual plastic applicators.

I'd also love to get the Urban Decay Naked palette. I think I'm one of the only people who doesn't own this product and I feel a little ashamed to call myself a beauty blogger and not own this palette! I've been using the MUA Undress me too palette for now because I wanted to see how much I would use the natural shades before spending so much money on a palette and I use them almost every day so I really think I would get my moneys worth if I bought the Naked palette. I think the colours are so wearable and I've loved every other one of my urban decay eye shadow palettes, so why not?

I also really want to get the MAC Studio Fix foundation, I've heard so many great things about this foundation so I really want to try it out for myself. I've been using the MAC Studio Sculpt for when I go out but I find it a little thick for everyday use so I think that this would be a great alternative as its thinner but still gives great coverage.

One thing I really need is a good brow brush. At the moment I use Benefit Cosmetics Browzings which I love but the brush is quite small so I'd really like a good brush. Also, the angled brush which comes with the kit is now covered in wax and powder so I'd like a brow brush that I could just use with the powder for when I wanted a more subtle look.

I currently use MAC bronzing powder in 'golden' but I've almost run out, I'm now scraping it from the sides of the pan :( so I think its time I got myself a new bronzer. The one I have now has a bit of shimmer in it so I think next time I'd like a more matte effect bronzer. I've heard great things about Hoola by Benefit and I've loved all of my other Benefit products so I think I should treat myself to this bronzer next.

And finally, I'd really love to treat myself to 'Watts Up' by Benefit. I currently use 'High Beam' by benefit which I love but sometimes I wish I owned a few different highlighters which aren't just in liquid form. I've swatched this on my hand at a Benefit counter and its a lovely champagne coloured highlighter with a blending sponge which I think is a great idea, I've wanted to get this for ages but just haven't got round to it!

Have you tried any of these products? I'd love to know what you thought of them and whats on your wishlist!

Lots of love,

What is your favourite Spring nail polish?
I really love pastel colours for spring but most of the time I can’t help but put some glitter on top to make it sparkle! At the moment Im wearing a pastel pink with Barry M Rose Quartz glitter polish on top and I really love this look.

What is your must have lip colour this spring?
I like a  pastel pink because I like to save the brighter colours for summer or maybe a coral, at the moment I’m loving strawberry shortcake Revlon lip butter or sugared grapefruit by Clinique.

Show us your favorite Spring dress?
My favorite spring dress is actually one I got from Topshop last year. Its a white strappy dress with a lace panel around the waist and a kind of swishy skirt, sorry for the awful description but I cant find a picture anywhere! I like to wear it with some pastel pink suede flats and a pastel pink cardigan with ruffles.

What is your favourite flower?
Im not sure if this counts but I really love blossom on trees, I think all the pink colour trees are so pretty and it looks amazing when it all starts to fall down, like a flower shower haha.

What is your favourite Spring scarf/accessory?
My favourite spring scarf would be this floral one I got from Lipsy, I’ve had it for ages now and I still love it, its nice a bright but its also thin so I can get away with wearing it in spring.

What Spring trends are you most excited for?
I love all the more delicate clothes which come into stores in spring, and I also love some of the new makeup trends like some of the pastels and also some of the brighter colours.

What is your favourite Spring candle?
I really love scented candles, at the moment I have a Lily Flame candle called Fairy dust which is so pretty and delicate and smells kind of like sweet baby powder, but I want to change it and get the Yankee Candle ‘Sweet Pea’ because I think that’s more of a spring scent.

What is your favourite body spray/perfume for Spring?
I love Victorias Secret Pink in ‘pretty and pure’ its such a fresh and fruity smell but unfortunately I’m running out and won’t be able to replace it because we don’t get them over here!

What is Spring like, where you live?
I live in the Uk so most years its sometimes sunny but sometimes rainy, but this year it’s only just began to stop freezing and snowing, we’ve had such a long winter!

What is your favourite thing about Spring?
I love it when the weather is warm, I can’t wait for summer!

Are you a Spring cleaner?
I do sometimes go a bit spring cleaning mad, I sorted out my room a couple of weeks ago and pretty much binned half the stuff I own, but it needed to be done. Thinking about it, I probably should have done a blog sale as I threw out quite a lot of unused beauty products!

Any plans for a Spring break/vacation?
I wont get a summer this year as I’m starting my placement straight after exams, but I am really looking forward to having a proper job and living in London!

I tag everyone! Link me back to your posts too so I can read yours!

(taken from Weheartit)

Hi Ladies! So with moving to a new city and starting a new job coming up I've been thinking a bit more of all the things I want to accomplish before I turn 21. I have just over a year so I've given myself a little head start because some of the things on the list are a bit ambitious and may take a bit of planning but here it is, all the things I want to do before I turn 21. I started this list a while ago so thats why some of the things have been crossed off as I've already completed them!

1. Live in London
2. Get a placement for next year at Uni
3. Get 300 followers on my blog (slightly ambitious I know, but a girls got to dream!)

5. Get my drivers licence
6. Have my own proper income
7. Get my belly button pierced  (This one did take me 3 years to complete- im such a chicken!)
8. Actually start my MAC Lipstick collection
9. Visit a city I've never been to before
10. Stop being so shy
11. Buy an Macbook
12. Learn to stop biting my nails!
13. Lose a bit of weight
14. Meet someone who inspires me
15. Finally fill my big photo frame (i've been attempting this for a while)
16. Own something from Tiffanys
17. Work for a cosmetics company
18. Go on a makeup artist training course
19. Own something by Chanel
20. Get a proper blog design made for me (any recommendations?!)
21. Be happy with my life when I turn 21.

What things do you want to accomplish in your life? I'd love to know if any of them are similar!

Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco range

Hi Ladies! I'm sorry if I haven't been able to reply to any of your comments and tweets but I've been so busy trying to find a house for next year I just haven't had the time! So, today I thought I would share with you all my thoughts on one of my favorite shampoos and conditioners.

Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco range contains an 'exotic concoction of Coconut, Murumuru Butter, Mallow and Milk Thistle which gently cleanses, supremely moisturizes, manages tangles and makes hair shimmer'. That's a lot of claims for one tiny bottle to make so I thought I would put it to the test. I've been waiting to do this review as I find that with many shampoo's, the benefits you get when you start using it wear off after a couple of weeks. I've been using this since December now, so I think that's long enough to give it an honest review.

If you've read any of my other haircare posts, you'll know that my hair is very damaged from straighteners so a shampoo that is very moisturizing is perfect for me. The shampoo has a sweet coconut and fruity smell which I think is really nice and it does smell quite luxurious, and so it should for £17 a bottle! I realize that the bottles may not look very big for such a high price but they really do last a long time, I've been using mine as a treat once a week since Christmas and I still have quite a bit left.

Like I said, I often find that the benefits of haircare products wear off after a few weeks of using but I have to say that these little wonders have kept my hair moisturized for months and none of the benefits which I initially gained have worn off yet and I'm nearly at the end of my bottles! It makes my hair feel soft and silky with a bit of a shine, which is a miracle with my hair as its rarely every shiny and soft.

I only use this shampoo and conditioner as a weekly treat because they are quite expensive but I would say that they are definitely worth the money and I will be repurchasing them when I've got a little bit of spending money.

Have you tried any Bumble and Bumble products? I'd love to know which ones to try next!

My first 50...

Wednesday, 24 April 2013

Hey ladies! I'll keep this post short and sweet but I just wanted to say a HUGE thankyou to everyone who has helped me get to my first 50 followers! I realize that to some of you reading who run bigger blogs this may seem like a tiny number but to someone who is just starting out its a big accomplishment! You have all been so supportive leaving me lovely comments and tweets and I enjoy reading each and every one of them :)

Also, thankyou to all the brands featured on my blog, you have all been so helpful giving me retweets and helping me to get my blog known!

I hope that my blog will continue to grow and get bigger and better and soon I'll be thanking another 50 followers! I really do appreciate the time you take to click the follow button and read all my posts which I slave over haha!

Lots of love,

Barry M Dazzle Dust

Tuesday, 23 April 2013

Hey Ladies, I love a bit of glitter so I thought I would share with you my thoughts on this Barry M fine glitter dust which I received as part of a gift bag from the Clothes Show Live, I got this in shade 11 which is this vivid purple colour which is very glittery, I also got it in a white colour and a green but I lost them so I can't review them!

I used to love this colour, I would wear it every time I went out because I was a bit purple mad, I had so many purple eye shadows which were pretty much the same and I would wear purple everyday. Thankfully, as I've got older I've grown out of this purple phase! Don't get me wrong I still love it and I still think it looks good with my skin but now I also own other colours!

Anyway, as I said, I used to use this all the time but I haven't really used it for a while since I got my MAC eye shadow in Young Punk which is a black eyeshadow with purple glitter flecks because I think its a more mature look than all over purple glitter. But I've recently rediscovered my love for this, I think that this eye shadow looks good when applied over different looks as long as it isn't applied too heavy. But be warned, it is VERY messy! It will get everywhere, all over your clothes and face so I would recommend not applying this in the clothes you want to go out in and not applying your power/concealer until you have finished your eyes!

I'd love to try this in a silver colour so I might pick one up next time I'm in Boots! Have you tried these, what did you think?

Budget Skincare Buys

Monday, 22 April 2013

Hi Girlies! Now I love having expensive skincare with pretty packaging as much as the next person, but when it comes down to it I'd rather have the lipstick than the cleanser, but maybe that's just me? So, I thought I would share with you all some cheap beauty products which really work and could make great alternatives to some high end products.

One really cheap product which I love is Sudocrem. I've heard that lots of celebrities swear by this so I thought I would try it out for myself to see if they were right. Turns out they were, It dries up spots and clears them faster than most products that I've tried (trust me, I've tried hundreds!) that actually claim to treat acne. I got this little pot from the 99p store so its a real bargain. Its a really handy size to carry around with you so it's great if your travelling or staying overnight somewhere. I always take this product if I'm going on holiday because it's also really good for sunburn, being a pale girl I burn so easily and it rarely turns into a tan. I wouldn't say that this product is as soothing as some after-suns but it does work the same or better than most that I've tried to help clear up the sunburn as quickly as possible. Although I would just use this for my sun burnt face as it doesn't spread too easily so could take quite a while to rub all over your body!

Another product which I find is great for sunburn (can you tell I get burnt alot?!) is the aloe vera gel by Holland and Barrett. Now, I'm sure your all aware of the fact that aloe vera is really soothing and great for sunburn but I've seen a lot of brands selling similar products to this one for twice the price. This has no additives or perfumes so you can't smell it when you apply it which I think is a good thing because nobody really wants to smell like aftersun and it means you can wear whatever perfume you want with it if your going out on holiday. This costs £6.99 or 2 for £7 which I think is a pretty good deal because its something you can just keep in your cupboard and are always going to need! This product is also amazing for sensitive skin as it doesn't contain any preservatives like its competitors.

There are so many cleansers and make up removers out there now that its hard to choose one and find one you like and that works for you. I use baby lotion to take my make-up off and it works a dream! It removes my make-up no problem, even my waterproof mascara. I love this because it doesn't dry my skin out like a lot of make up removers so you don't have to cake your face in moisturizer straight after using it. I was surprised that when I started using this product my skin cleared up really well too. I've suffered with bad skin since I was 11 (unlucky or what?!) and fortunately its got a lot better now but I still love it when I find something that really helps to give me clear skin!

At the moment, I'm using this Nivea eye make up remover because although my baby lotion does remove my eye make up, I much prefer to use a liquid to a cream for removing my eye make up. This one removes all my eye makeup without the need to rub my eyes too much because that can sometimes make my eyes sore, what more could I want? and its great for sensitive eyes/skin.

Another product which I love is the Simple Hydrating Light moisturizer. My skin can get really dry or be really oily so I find that this product works well for both types depending on what my skin feels like doing that day. It is really moisturizing but its still light so it doesn't block my pores or make my skin oily, and it only costs around £2! It was on offer in sainsburys the other day so I currently have 3 boxes in my draws!

Have you tried any of these products or know of any that I should try?

Bathtime Pampering

Sunday, 21 April 2013

Hey Ladies! I hope you've all had amazing weekends, I spent mine meeting my new flatmates for the first time (Nerve-wracking!), flat hunting in London and attending a 50th birthday party so its fair to say I'm a little bit tired! One of the things I love about being home from Uni is a nice relaxing bath so I thought I would share how I pamper myself and relax.

One product which I love to run a bath with is the Johnsons Bedtime Baby Bath, it may sound odd because it is a product for babies but the smell is so relaxing and its so soothing on your skin, and who doesn't want baby soft skin?! But no bath would be right without a nice candle burning away. I love this one by the White Company at the moment, its called flowers and has a really nice floral soapy smell. I like fresh smells rather than sweet smells in my bathroom so this one is perfect and I think the simple design looks really elegant on the side of the bath.

I love to give my face a good clean while I'm in the bath because its one of the few times I'm relaxed while going through my skincare routine without the need to rush it. I scrub my face using 'The greatest scrub of all' by Soap and Glory because its the only scrub I've found that really works for my skin and always leaves it feeling clean and fresh without being dried out, you can see my full review of this product here. After this I would love to use a moisturizing face mask but I've ran out at the moment and can't decide which one to get next, any recommendations? So instead of using a face mask I use Simple hydrating face moisturizer in place of a face mask. I just put loads of this on my face and leave it there while I'm soaking in the bath to sink into my skin, after about 15 mins I just wash the excess off and my skin is left feeling baby soft.

For my body I'm using Marc Jacobs Daisy body wash and luxury body creme at the moment. I'm a great lover of the Daisy perfume so I was thrilled when I got this lovely gift set for Christmas. The body wash lathers up really well and has tiny shimmery flecks in it so it leaves your skin smelling great and with a hint of shimmer and the body creme has the same shimmery effect which is great as a little treat!

I love the Jo Malone bath oils as a treat once in a while, these ones are Lime Basil and Mandarin and smell really perfumed and luxurious, kind of a floral citrus, but its definitely more of a 'night' smell rather than one I would use in the day. However, these are quite expensive so I only use them as an occasional treat. And how could I not include this cute little rubber duck, I got this one as a present in my stocking one year but I know you can get them from places like John Lewis and Selfridges and they come in loads of designs!

What products do you love to pamper yourself with at bathtime?

Yume Sunless Tan Extender

Saturday, 20 April 2013

Hi Ladies, I hope your all having an amazing weekend! I was in London yesterday looking at houses all day, so exciting but now I'm shattered! So, I thought I would do a post on a different kind of product today and something that I haven't really seen on other blogs yet. I got this product from the Pro Beauty Show and I'm quite impressed seeing as I've never heard of the brand before.

Yume tan extender is manufactured by Tampa Bay Tan. The lotion contains vitamins A, D and E and natural ingredients such as Lavender  Chamomile and Lemon balm which all contain properties which clarify, heal and protect the skin. It also contains essential fatty acids which penetrate deep into the skin to provide a high level of moisturisation, which is key for making your tan last longer.

This tan extender contains DHA (the ingredient which makes the tan stain your skin) which means that the tan stays on your skin longer without drying out your skin like a lot of tan extenders.

The packaging of this product isn't really much to look at but I think it is meant to be for salons, not for home use so they haven't really made it look pretty or anything but if the product works then I'm not too concerned about the packaging. I use this when I've had a spray tan and I have to say it does make my tan last longer and prolongs the nice looking tan before the cracked and faded look appears. When I use this product, my tan actually lasts the whole week which it's supposed to, I'm not sure how much this costs but if you are spending money on a spray tan your going to want it to last!

Also, you only have to use this product maximum every other day but I only use it the day after my spray tan so it lasts ages! The product does smell slightly odd, kind of like a sickly sweet coconut fruity smell, its hard to explain but its not a great smell, but its bearable. I think if you can stand the smell of having a spray tan then you won't mind the smell of this.

I am a spray tanner and I use this product and recommend it to all my clients so I would definitely recondite investing in a good tan extender. What are your favourite tanning products? I'm always looking for new ones to try!

Spring Lipsticks

Thursday, 18 April 2013

Hey Ladies! It seems like spring is finally here after such a long winter! I have a bit of an obsession with lip products and went through a phase of buying loads but as I don't have a MAC counter where I live I haven't been able to get a MAC lipstick! I really want a light pink one and a brighter pink one for going out but not too neon, any suggestions?

Anyway, I thought I would share some of my favorite lipsticks (and one gloss) for spring, so here they are! Before I start telling you about them, I'm sorry for the state of some of these but they have been well loved and I haven't had time to repurchase them yet!

Clinique Different Lipstick in 'Sugared Grapefruit' - I got this lipstick ages ago and it still hasn't run out although it has been well loved and now there's only a tiny bit left, so time to get a new one I think! Its a gorgeous coral pink shade and looks perfect with a tan but also suits pale skin like mine. The colour is intense and lasts a long time on your lips which is great, and it has a creamy texture which I always prefer with lipsticks. I love to wear this shade with my MAC 'Springsheen' shimmer blush and neutral gold eye makeup and I think it looks great!

Revlon Lip Butter in 'Strawberry Shortcake' - You've probably all heard about the Revlon lip butters as most bloggers seem to love them and theres a huge hype around the products, so I just had to get one and see for myself! This is a light bubblegum pink colour which is quite sheer so I think its great for wearing in the day and as its quite sheer you don't need a mirror to re-apply it.

Nivea 'Pearly Shine' lipbalm - So, technically this isn't a lipstick, its a lipbalm but this gives a really nice colour to your lips and I sometimes use it as a sheer alternative to my nude pink lipsticks. It has a nice pearl finish in a light pink colour and moisturizes your lips really well so I think this is great to use instead of a plain lipbalm. Its also really cheap so I can carry it around with me without worring about losing it and it smells lovely and sweet.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in 'Pink Blush' - Ive nearly used all of this lipstick too because I love the colour. It works with almost all makeup looks and you can wear it in the day or night. The colour is a bright bubblegum pink and is really buildable so you can wear it more sheer or more intense depending on the look your going for. Also, theyre selling this shade at Fragrance Direct for £1.99 at the moment, Bargain!

Victorias Secret Minty Lipshine in 'Bubblegum Minty' - This lipgloss has a minty taste and is designed to make your breath fresher without the use of breath mints! It is a clear pinky colour with a very sublte shimmer and can be worn over all lipstick shades so I think its a great one to give you a high shine finish and minty breath. I like the VS lipglosses because they are really shiny without being sticky or tacky which I always find annoying with lipglosses.

Barry M Loose Body Glitter

Wednesday, 17 April 2013

Hey Girls! I love all things glittery so you can imagine my happiness when I received this little pot in a Barry M gift bag at a fashion event! I'll keep this post short and sweet as there's not much you can say about glitter and I don't want to bore you all!

The glitter is a pink colour and is super sparkly which is great. It also sticks to your skin really well and will stay on all night without falling off, even without putting any glue or setting lotion on before using it! I think that this glitter is really pretty and I sometimes just dab a bit on the top of my cheekbones if I'm going out because it looks great when the lights hit it, or on my chest just to make me feel a bit more 'done up'. This glitter also works really well as part of an eye makeup look just to make your eyes pop a bit more.

This is definitely a glitter though as the pieces are faily large, not that they really stand out as giant flakes, they just aren't as small as a shimmer.

Have you tried this product? or any similar, I really want to try some of the MAC glitters!

Clarins Colour Quartet for Eyes

Tuesday, 16 April 2013

Hi Girlies! I hope your Mondays weren’t too terrible! I’m back home from Uni at the moment so I get to take a little time off in between revision and I must say, it is nice to be able to relax a bit before all the madness of exams starts again! I thought I would do a post about my Clarins eyeshadow palette as it has some great spring pastels and it’s supposedly spring now, even if it is as cold as winter but we can dream!

I got given this palette from a friend as she no longer wanted it and didn’t think the colours suited her which was great for me because I love shimmery eyeshadows! This palette is called ‘Pastel Shimmers’ colour quartet for eyes and its by Clarins. I’m not sure if you can still get this palette as I received it quite a while ago and they tend to do palettes with eyeliner included now which is always a bonus.

The packaging for this product is quite small as it only has 4 colours so it’s much easier to pop in your handbag for touch-ups than some of my Urban Decay or MUA ones. It’s also quite chunky and has a large mirror and it just seems to me like its a high quality palette. I’m not sure how much this cost as I didn’t buy it and they don’t make the same ones anymore but I’m guessing it was slightly pricey like most of Clarins stuff so I would expect it to be good quality.
The palette comes with 4 colours which are all really wearable. There is a yellow, lilac, pink and a green which are all light and shimmery. However, they are quite sheer so if you want a more intense colour then you will have to build it up, I found this when swatching on my hand but I like the sheerness on my eyes as it gives me a nice shimmery subtle day look.

The eyeshadows are all really soft and blendable making them easy to apply. Also, as the colours are so light they work really well in your tearduct area or as a base when creating other eyeshadow looks. I don’t think I would buy this palette again purely because, apart from the fact I cant, I think I prefer more of a glittery shimmer that you get with the Bare Minerals eyeshadow pots.

Which eyeshadows are you loving at the moment? I’d love to know!

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

Sunday, 14 April 2013

Hey Lovelies! Before I start reviewing this product I just want to say thank you to all the people who have followed me on GFC, Bloglovin and Twitter and have given me lots of lovely compliments about my blog, its always nice to know people like what you do so I've made sure to follow you all back!

Okay, so back to makeup! I've been seeing loads of posts on some of my favourite blogs about the Real Techniques brushes so I wanted (needed!) to try one for myself. I never really use a brush to apply my foundation to the dismay of most of the girls who work on beauty counters, so after quite a few lectures on the benefits of using a foundation brush I decided this was the brush I should buy from Real Techniques. But which one?! Real Techniques do quite a few brushes which can be used to apply different foundations so this was quite daunting but after watching a few YouTube videos I decided that the 'expert face brush' would be best for me as I use liquid foundation.

Real Techniques do include a foundation brush in their Core Collection make up brush set however I've heard that its quite small and better for doing more detailed areas rather than the whole face so I'm happy with my choice. The brush is so soft and easy to work with! The bristles are really soft and smooth which is great for my sensetive skin as some cheaper brushes just aren't comfortable to use. Also, the bristles are quite short and stubby (if you know what I mean?!) which means its really easy to apply the foundation and then buff it into your skin for a more airbrushed effect.

The brush also allows me to apply my foundation slightly heavier and more even than I would achieve with my hands which means I get the best results from my foundation. It also has a really good handle, its not too heavy and not too light so its easy to work with, which is always a plus!

I dont think these brushes are that expensive either, I only paid £10 for this one from Amazon which is not bad for the quality of the brush! I think I want to try the blush brush next because I've heard thats great, which ones do you love?

Phil Smith Hair Transforming Cream

Hi Ladies! I spend a lot of money on haircare products that claim to protect my hair and make it healthy again as it's so damaged from straightening so I've been testing out some cheaper products to see if I can cut costs and still get the same results.

I recently got this product in a mini size free with Cosmopolitan Magazine so I thought I'd give it a go. I've tried lots of hair products over my time but my all time fave is Morroccan Oil, it makes my hair so smooth and has definitely saved my hair a horrible death caused by straighteners. There are a lot of hair oil products around now like morroccan oil, argan oil, macadamia oil (I have a hair repair mask of this - ill let you know how it goes!) so its hard to know which to pick. The Phil Smith Hair Transforming Cream contains argan oil which claims to help dry, coloured and damaged hair by 'miraculously transforming the texture of your hair'.

I was skeptical, however, I really like this product. It kind of works as a leave in conditioner and helps to keep some of the moisture in my hair that otherwise might have been sucked out by the straighteners. It helps my hair to stay a bit more glossy and smooth and helps it to look less damaged than it really is which is great because nobody wants straw hair! In my opinion, this product works almost as well as morroccan oil for a fraction of the price.

The cream is light and you can feel the hair oil in it which means it doesnt weigh down your hair and makes it easy to apply. When you put it on its like applying conditioner in the way it makes your hair instantly smoother.

Have you tried this product or any similar products? Its only fair you share them with me so I can try them!

Mini Haul

Saturday, 13 April 2013

Hey Ladies! I hope your all having a fab weekend! If your like me, you'll know that the temptation to buy new beauty products is just too much, especially when the beauty counters look so pretty and inviting all the time! So I thought I'd pop a post up about all the lovely things I've been buying recently and tell you all what I thought of them.

So, one of the first things I had to buy was a Real Techniques makeup brush. Everyone seems to be buying these at the moment and loving them and bloggers have been raving about them for ages so I just had to try! I already have blush and powder brushes etc, but I don't use a brush to apply my foundation (I'm lazy and just slap it on with my hands) so I thought I would indulge and get myself a foundation brush. I eventually decided on the expert face brush because that was most suitable for my foundation and I love it! It's so soft and firm so its really easy to use. I love it so much, I'll probably do a full review on here soon.

Secondly, I repurchased the YSL Touche Eclat foundation. If you read my blog you'll know that I love this foundation. I tried really hard not to love it because it's so expensive, but yet again there's another bottle of it sitting on my dresser. If you want to know more about this product, you can read my full review here

Another product I bought based on how much bloggers have been loving it (clearly, I'm easily led) is the Collection 2000 concealer. It's true what they say, it really is nice and creamy without being cakey and stays on for hours. I was worried that a product as cheap as this wouldn't hide my blemishes and dark circles but this could easily compete with all the high end brands.

One other product which I really wanted to try was the Sleeprollers, theres been so much positive feedback on these all over twitter so I thought I would give them a go myself, and I was pleasantly surprised. I was considering getting some extensions for volume which I could use on nights out but now I don't think I really need to bother seeing as these work so well. If you want to know more about these you can read my full review here

What products have you been loving lately? Have you been using any of these products? I'd love to know!

Sleep in Rollers

Pretty little pink bag!

Hi Ladies! I hope your all having a fabulous week so far! Last night I tried my Sleeprollers for the first time so I thought I'd share my opinions with you all! I'm sure by now everyone knows what Sleeprollers are, mainly because everyone and their dog seems to be tweeting pictures of them wearing the rollers or the results (I'm also guilty of this). But for those of you who don't know, they are velcro rollers which squish down then you push on them, meaning that they flatten down while your sleeping so you can be comfortable while sleeping and still wake up with big bouncy hair!

The Rollers

The pack comes with 20 pink sleep rollers, a hair net and a dvd showing you how to use them and tips for getting big hair and a little bit of advertising of their other products. I wanted to test these the way that they suggest that you do so I could get a proper feel for how well they worked, so I sat down to watch the how to video and ended up watching the whole dvd. Its set out like some of the Youtube videos which I love so I couldn't switch it off haha, but I'm sure you wont all be as sad as me!

I made my hair slightly damp and rolled the rollers into my hair as instructed. It took me a while at first to get the hang of putting the rollers in and getting them tight as I'm a roller virgin, but I soon got the hang of it and had them all done in no time. I didn't use all 20 so people with thicker or more hair than me will probably find that 20 rollers is plenty because my hair isn't really short.

When I first got into bed I found the rollers quite comfortable but I have to admit I did wake up a lot in the night because I found the only comfortable position was sleeping on my back and I don't usually sleep like that, but I guess they are probably a lot more comfortable than ordinary rollers!

When I woke up in the morning I waited to take them out until I'd finished doing my make up because I wanted to leave them in as long as possible. To be honest I didn't really expect them to work like I had seen they had for other people on twitter because these things rarely work for me but I was amazed when I took the rollers off to reveal big, bouncy curls! They really worked and the curls have held right up to now which is really great because it's so annoying when your curls fall out!

Looking silly with the rollers in!
Overall, although they were kind of uncomfortable to sleep in, these rollers are amazing! Your hair will be done in seconds in the morning and the discomfort is definitely worth it for the results! All I used on my hair before using the rollers too was Moroccan Oil so these results were achieved without using any volumising products!

The finished results!
Have you tried these rollers or do you have any tips for getting big hair? I'd love to know :)

Products I Regret Buying

Monday, 8 April 2013

Hey Lovelies! I've been trying to decide whether to do this post for a while now because, as you can see by the title, its a bit of a negative post! But I've (obviously) decided to write it because I always find it interesting to see weather products live up to the hype or not. However, saying that, just because I didn't like these products doesn't mean that they wont suit you - these may be exactly what your looking for!

Rimmel Stay Matte - One of the first products I regret buying is the Rimmel 'stay matte' foundation. I bought this a while ago when I was on my way back to University after being home for a few weeks, and I cleverly forgot to take my make up back to Bournemouth with me - I know, nightmare! So I popped into Boots on the way back, I didn't want to spend much on make up as I had loads of it at home that I'd forgotten, so luckily for me Rimmel had a 3 for 2 offer on. I picked out this foundation because it was quite cheap and I only needed to use it for a few days but it just doesnt suit my skin at all. Firstly, there wasn't really a good match for my skin and the matte effect made my skin look dry. Also, I found this foundation quite patchy and it just made my skin look awful! If I wasn't just using this foundation for a few days I would be kinda dissapointed with the size of the bottle too, its tiny! I think this foundation would work really well on people who don't have my horrible dry skin, also, it clings to blemishes and spots too so I'd say you need clear skin to get away with this.

Soap and Glory Mascara - Okay, so I didn't technically buy this, it came in a goodie bag at an event at University, but it's always disappointing when you don't like something! If you've read any of my previous posts, you'll know that I've always been a bit wary of Soap and Glory because I find their products a bit hit and miss, this unfortunately was a miss. The mascara claims to give you super volume. I didn't really find that this worked for me because it just didn't add any volume. I found the brush very stiff so it was hard to get a good curl on the lashes and was just really difficult to use. Although, saying that I do use it when I know I'll be wearing false eyelashes because you don't really need an amazing mascara for that.

Maybelline dream satin liquid - Okay, so I knew when I decided to write this post that there would be more than one foundation featured because I just cant seem to find the perfect one! I used to really love this foundation but since repurchasing it after my YSL ran out, I've fallen out of love with it. I just cant get it to stay on my skin for very long at all which means it ends up looking shiny and patchy. I think maybe Im being a bit optimistic for a drugstore foundation, especially after using a high end one for a few months? Im not sure. I think this product would work really well on dry skin though as it never dried my skin out and it's quite dewy.

Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid

Maybelline colour sensational lip marker - I LOVE lip products, its becoming a bit of an obsession really, seeing as I still use the same few everytime I do my makeup. But this purchase was another one of my emergency purchases after the forgotten make up disaster I've already talked about. I decided to try one of the lip markers because they were fairly new and I always like to try out new make up. I don't think this product is a bad product, far from it, and it does everything it claims to. I just think this one isn't for me. You have to draw the lip colour on like your using an actual marker and it feels like a felt tip which I didn't really love. Also, after a while of wearing it, your left with a lip liner effect which Im not a massive fan of because I never really use lip liner. I also prefer the feel of a lipstick or gloss because It leaves my lips feeling smooth but this one just felt slightly dry, not in a bad way, it was just strange. I got this one in the colour 'plum flushed' which is a really nice deep pink and its also really buildable so you can make it pop as much as you want. This product also smells amazing, kind of a fruity smell.

Sorry for all the negativity in this post, but you can't love everything you try! Let me know if you've tried any of these products and what you thought of them!
