Planning an #LDNBloggersMeet ...

Wednesday, 31 July 2013

Hi Ladies! Since I moved to London I've been fortunate enough to attend some bloggers events and have loved every one of them. I'm only going to be living in London for a year so I thought it would be a great idea to plan a little bloggers get together seeing as there doesn't seem to be any planned in the near future that I know about and this year will be my only chance to do it!

Depending on how much interest I get, this may be a small lunch/shopping trip so we can all go crazy on Oxford Street and get to know other bloggers or maybe if it gets loads of interest it will be a bloggers party in a bar, I'm not sure yet!

What I would really love though is someone to help host the meet up with me as I'm really new to this and it's always nice to have someone to do it with! If your interested in helping me or attending the event please let me know in the comments and I'll get to work! Also if your interested in attending then please leave your e-mail address so I can contact you when plans have been made!

My 20th Birthday

Tuesday, 30 July 2013

Hi Ladies! It was my Birthday on Sunday so I thought I'd show you all what I got up to over the weekend and what I got. First of all this isn't a showing off post, I just like reading these posts so I thought I'd write one of my own, and my Birthday unfortunately only comes around once a year so if you don't like these posts, you won't have to read one from me for a year!

I started off my birthday on Friday night really. I'd arranged a little birthday get together then we were all heading off the Leicester Square. I was really surprised at the amount of people who turned up to celebrate and wish my happy birthday, and it's fair to say that out little house was a bit cramped. My housemates also surprised me with a lovely cake and made everyone sing happy birthday which was really lovely of them and I really wasn't expecting it. I had a great night out and it was a great way to blow off some steam after a long week at work! I've only put two photos up from my night out as I was quite tipsy and look awful in all of the photos, these are just the best of a bad bunch! I'm with my friend from Uni on the tube :)

On Sunday (my actual Birthday) my parents came round to drop off my cards and presents and we went out for a lovely Italian meal and it's fair to say I was waddling home afterwards! My main present which they got me was a Thomas Sabo Mickey Mouse charm for my charm bracelet, I recently started my first proper job in Marketing at Disney so it was a really thoughtful gift and I love it. My charm bracelet is kind of a little story of my life in recent years and its lovely to be able to look at my wrist and think back on some of the memories which it holds. They also got me some beauty goodies which I have yet to try out, so expect some reviews on them coming up soon! My Brother also gave me a big bottle of Malibu (my favorite drink) with a bottle of coke with my name on it so I could have a Malibu and coke (how cute!).

On Monday I was also spoiled at work which was a huge surprise. They fooled me into thinking I was going to a meeting but when I arrived there was a pink cake and everyone was singing Happy Birthday, It was a little bit embarrassing as I'm still quite new there! They gave me a card and to my surprise, a Benefit voucher too! They have been so generous and I'm so thankful to them, but clearly they know me too well as their present was spot on! I'm thinking of using it to buy myself some treats and things I haven't tried before so please leave me any recommendations or reviews of benefit products in the comments below!

I was truly spoilt this year and I just want to say a huge thank you to anyone who wished my happy birthday, all of your tweets were so sweet!

Elemis White Flowers Eye & Lip Make-Up Remover

Wednesday, 24 July 2013

Hi Ladies! I hope your all having wonderful weeks, I'm so glad its started to cool down at night now and I'm looking forward to getting a good nights sleep! I was recently contacted by Elemis asking if I would like to try their Fresh Skin range, as I'm only 19 (for a week!) I thought that I would be perfect to test the range, but I also received this eye make-up remover from the very generous Elemis! I thought it would be best to review this now after I've been using it for a week and wait to review the skincare once I've fully been able to test it.

Elemis is a brand who will always have a place in my heart, when my acne was at its worse I was also getting it on my back which was very painful and hard to treat. The only thing which helped to clear it up was an Elemis tea-tree spray which is really saying something as I pretty much tested the whole of Boots! Much like Benefit, my love for Elemis stems from my early teenage years when I really became interested in beauty, it helped me through a tough time and still continues to help me to this day, 9 years later.

Anyway, on to the review. Elemis says 'This gentle yet effective bi-phase formula instantly removes eye and lip make-up, including waterproof mascara. Formulated with white peony extract to hydrate and white tea to soothe and refresh'. I have to say, I'm really impressed with this product. I have a bright lipstick and a purple eye shadow which always stain and are such a pain to use, so I put this product to the test by using it to remove the lipstick and eye shadow and it took it all off including the stains without needing to rub my eye area too much which is always something I look for as I have very sensitive skin.

Like many eye make-up removers, you have to shake this before using, then just sweep across your lids to remove your make up. One of the things I loved about this product is the feeling it left me with after use. It left my skin feeling hydrated and with a really nice slightly oily texture, but not the kind of oil that you don't want on your skin if you know what i mean? I only use hydrating skincare now as my skin is so sensitive and drys out very easily (I've had a reaction to something as I'm writing this and it's so terrible to suffer with!) so this product ticks all the boxes for me and I think it will be here to stay in my skincare routine.

Oriflame Illuminating Pearls

Monday, 22 July 2013

Hi Lovelies! Since I started blogging back in March, Highlighters are something that I've been using way more than I ever did. I love the glow that they give you and they just make me look more awake in the mornings! I received these Illuminating Pearls from Oriflame after attending the LDN Bloggers party so I thought I'd let you know what I thought of them.

I'm such a sucker for pretty packaging (this is partly where my Benefit addiction comes from) so I really do love the look of this product. The pastel colours are so pretty, and I think it looks a lot like the Guerlain pearls which I've seen a lot on Instagram and love the look of. I also love the smell of the pearls, they have a really sweet candy smell which is really lovely, but I like how the smell doesn't linger when you use it because it would be a bit odd if your cheek bones smelled like sweets all day.

Oriflame claim that the different coloured pearls help to colour correct and illuminate your skin. Unfortunately  I didn't see any of the colour correcting properties but I was only using this product on my cheek bones. The illuminated effect was also quite hard to achieve, as you can see from the last picture the texture is quite chalky and white and that was after a couple of layers. I couldn't really see the product at all when I just swatched one layer. I think I would love this product a lot more if it had more shimmer but I do think this product is good if you only want a really subtle highlighted look.

I hope you liked this review, and if anybody is interesting in guest posting on my blog then please comment below as I will be needing guest bloggers shortly! Also, If you read and love my blog I would really appreciate it if you voted me for 'Best New Beauty Blog' in the Cosmo Blog Awards (link in sidebar) and don't forget to let me know if you have so I can check out your blog and thank you!

My False Eyelash Collection

Sunday, 21 July 2013

Hi Lovelies! I hope you're all enjoying the wonderful sunshine this weekend, this heatwave seems to be lasting forever! I popped a photo up on my Instagram last week of a tiny corner of my make-up collection, and one of my lovely followers asked if I could write a post about my false eyelashes as she was considering getting some, so here it is! I'm always open to suggestions, so if there's anything you want to see on my blog then just let me know and I'll get to work!

I only ever wear false lashes on a night out or if I have somewhere special to go because its just a bit of a hassle for every-day wear, but on a night out I can't live without them. I became addicted to wearing false lashes on nights out after a trip to the Tokyo Lash Bar by Shu Uemura. My Mum kindly treated me (and herself) by taking me there last New Year's eve while we were in the Trafford Centre and I fell in love. We got to choose and customize our lashes then the lovely people who worked there taught us how to apply them properly and did our make up for us. I still have my lashes from there but they're not in a very good state any more because I wore them to death and I didn't really want to photograph some disgusting looking lashes! Part of the reason why this little trip got me addicted was because I finally knew how to apply them properly, before I never used to bother because putting them on was a bit tricky but once I had been shown how to do it, I was officially addicted.

I tend to go for more natural looking eyelashes because I find that the bigger lashes always look that little bit fake and I don't want people to know i'm wearing them. That's why the Naturalite lashes from Eyelure are my all time favorites. They have a super thin band on them which means you really can't tell that they aren't your own lashes and they blend in with my own lashes perfectly. I just pop a but of mascara on them and I've got fuller looking eyelashes but nobody can tell that they aren't mine. I own the Natural Volume lashes which I use when I'm using lighter or golden eye make up and the Super Full lashes which look great with a smokey eye because I think bigger eye-lashes compliment that kind of look perfectly. These lashes were about £5 which I think is an okay price as the MAC ones are priced at £10 and Eyelure have some good dupes.

The next picture is a set of 10 that I got from Banggood, a Chinese website for about £2. £2 for 10 pairs of false lashes may sound amazing but they do have their drawbacks. I picked these ones because they looked quite natural and fluttery on the website, and they do look like that in real life too, but they are so hard to apply! Last time I used them they wouldn't stick properly and the corners kept coming loose, which is a problem I've never had before. But if your looking for a set of cheap lashes, they do look good once you've managed to get them on. I personally prefer to spend a bit more and get Eyelure lashes because I find that the band sits on my eye better and they are just easier to work with if your not an expert.

Lastly, I've got these lashes from Kiss in Flirt. I got these in my LDN Bloggers Party goodie bag and I've only worn them once. I think they're a bit too full looking for me as I prefer them to look more like my own lashes. Saying that, they are easy to put on and do stay put once they're on, so if you want a fuller, bigger look then these would be perfect for you.

As I said before, this isn't my whole eyelash collection but these are the ones which are in a good enough condition to show you. Most of the other ones which I love are Eyelure lashes so if your looking for a good false eye-lash brand I really would recommend that you check out Eyelure.

MAC 'Knight Divine' Eyeshadow

Tuesday, 16 July 2013

Hi Lovelies! I seem to be on a roll with posting on the blog this week! I've decided to try and be more dedicated like I used to be before I started working full time. I always used to be able to find the time to plan out posts, take photos, edit them and write the post, let alone keeping up with the twitter conversations, but the big jump into the working world has definitely made this a little more difficult! So I'm sorry to all of my lovely followers that I've not been more active recently but I promise that's all about to change. Anyway, I thought I would do a little review of one of my favorite night time eye-shadows.

I received this eye-shadow off my Mum when she was having a clear out (I'm always hanging around like a little vulture when this is happening) and when she said she didn't want all of her MAC eye-shadows  I was there to snap it up. 'Knight Divine' is a really pretty navy/grey shade with a pretty shimmer to it. I think it looks great on its own or when it's used in a smokey eye look for nights out. I don't wear this colour in the day as it's a little dark and I like to keep it neutral or go for a golden look in the day.

One of the reasons I love this eye-shadow is due to how pigmented it is. I've had this for ages and never hit pan as you only need to use a little bit each time you use it. It also doesn't drop glitter all over your face like a lot of other shimmery eye-shadows which is definitely a plus, especially with dark colours. This is probably because the shimmer in this eye shadow is gives off more of a metallic look rather than a chunky glittery look so it's great if you only want a subtle shimmer. Overall, I have no complaints about this eye-shadow and will definitely be re-purchasing it when it runs out.

Rouge Bunny Rouge - Liquid Blush and Gloss Duo

Monday, 15 July 2013

Hi Ladies! I hope you've all been enjoying this gorgeous weather we've been having, where did this heatwave even come from?! I'll probably get hate comments for this but I'm secretly wishing for just one cold day, I'm a little tired of getting no sleep and sweating everywhere I go! Today I'm going to be reviewing this Rouge Bunny Rouge duo in the shade 'Argentino' which I received in my LDN Bloggers Part goodie bag. I'd never heard of this brand before but I'm glad I got to try out their products.

This duo is made up of a liquid blush and a lipgloss, I'd never tried a liquid blush before and I'm not sure it's a formula that I like for everyday wear. The liquid blush comes with a small thin brush for applying it which is actually a good thing as you only need a tiny bit to give you a nice glow. The formula was also really long lasting but the colour just isn't for me. The colour is kind of a darker browny coral colour, kind of like a terracotta colour which I think would look great with a tan but on my pale skin it just looks a bit too much on my pale skin. I think the formula of this product would be great on holiday too as the liquid blush is less likely to melt away in the sun or come off around the pool.

This duo also contains a pinky coral coloured lipgloss. I love the colour of this gloss and also think it would be perfect with a tan as it contains gold shimmer which would really compliment a golden glow, something which I am really lacking at the moment! One thing I didn't like about this gloss was that it didn't really sink into your lips and moisturize them, which is something I look for in lipglosses because I like to be able to move my lips around without them sticking together, something I couldn't do with this gloss.

I don't think I will get much use out of this product, purely because of the colour of it, not because it's a bad product. However, if I was going on holiday this year I would definitely bring it with me as the colours would work well with a tan, and the packaging is quite small and slim so I wouldn't have to travel with a huge make up bag full of tonnes of blushers and lipglosses!

Have you ever tried anything from Rouge Bunny Rouge?

Milkshake Active Milk Mask

Saturday, 13 July 2013

Hi Ladies! I feel like I'm being such a bad blogger at the moment as I just haven't had the time to keep my blog updated with work and a few busy weekends, hopefully nobody will be too annoyed! I've recently been getting really into hair masks to keep my hair soft and smooth and I find that they really help to repair some of the damage that my GHD addiction causes.

I received this Active Milk Mask by Milkshake in my LDN Bloggers Party goodie bag and was really excited to try it as I've never got the chance to try any Milkshake products before, and I've been hearing great things about the brand. This product is a 'restructuring milk mask for dry or damaged hair' - something which my hair definitely is!

The first thing I noticed about this hair mask was the smell, I know the brand is called Milkshake but I didn't really think that would mean the products smelt like milkshake (I can be a bit stupid sometimes!). The mask smells like a sweet vanilla milkshake and is the perfect treat to use when your pampering yourself (pretty much how I spent every Sunday night).

I followed the instructions and left it on my hair for 5 mins then washed it off and I noticed a difference in my hair as soon as I'd dried it. Usually when I blow dry my hair, it's very dry and VERY frizzy. As I have curly hair the hairdryer can't stamp out all of the curls so the result is a bit of a cross between Hagrid and a bush, but when I'd used this mask it was quite soft although I did still look like Hagrid. After I'd straightened my hair it was soft and smooth and helped to tame my frizz a lot more than just using a normal conditioner was.

The only problem I have with this mask is the size of the bottle. I reckon I could get about 3 uses out of this bottle now my hair has got longer which really is not a lot. I'm not sure if this is the normal size packaging or weather we got a smaller trial version to try as it was part of a gift bag so the actual product may be a larger version of this one. This mask costs £11.59 for the larger size which I don't think is a bad price seeing as its such a great product and other hair masks can cost around £25!

Which hair masks are your favorite? I'm always on the look out for new ones! Also, If you like reading my blog, please vote for me to win Best New Beauty Blog in the Cosmo Blog Awards!

Cosmo Blog Awards - I've Been Nominated!

Tuesday, 9 July 2013

Hi Girlies! So yesterday just before I was about to leave work I recieved a couple of tweets saying congratulations but as my phone is quite rubbish and I didn't really want to use my computer at work, I had to wait until I got home to find out that I had been nominated for 'Best New Beauty Blog'. I was shocked to say the least, I really never thought I would be nominated and I'd even forgotten that the shortlist came out yesterday!

I want to say a HUGE THANKYOU to anyone who voted, or even those of you who didn't but still continue to support me and leave me lovely comments/tweets all the time, every one of them really does brighten my day and I honestly don't know what I did with my spare time before blogging. I only started my blog at the end of March, so to have been nominated for such a well known award is amazing and way more that I ever thought was possible for me to achieve.

I honestly don't expect to win anything as I'm up against some of my favourite bloggers but if those of you who do read and love my blog would spare the time to vote for Lipgloss and Lashes, it would mean the world to me. You can vote HERE or by clicking the 'vote for me' picture in my sidebar. If you do decide to vote for me please leave a comment or tweet me so I can say thank you!

Hyaluron Collagen Skincare Range

Sunday, 7 July 2013

Hi Ladies! I hope your enjoying this little heatwave we've been having, I know I am! I really can't believe its actually 30 degrees in London after what seems like the longest, coldest winter ever! I can't seem to get any of my make up to stay on and my hair is a bit 'Monica From Friends' but I really can't complain after I've spent all winter freezing my socks off!

If you read my blog regularly, you'll know that for a few weeks now I've been experiencing terrible dry skin, to the point where I really didn't know what to do anymore. None of my make up looked good and no moisturizer was making a difference. This skincare duo came to the rescue when my skin was really getting me down in the dumps and has been my skin saviour ever since. There are some points which I'm not too keen on with this product but if it makes my skin look good then it's a small price to pay.

This skincare duo is produced by HydroCare and contains Hylaronic Acid as the active ingridient. Hyaluronic Acid stimulates and improves cells’ water binding ability. As a result, new collagen and elastin fibers are produced and existing ones are re-activated. Collagen constitutes 70% of the skin’s connective tissue. It has a great water retention ability, which provides excellent flexibility for the skin. They are the primary substances in preserving the necessary hydration level and optimal water balance of the skin.

This is actually a skincare duo meant to combat anti ageing so you may be wondering why I'm using it when I'm only 19. It seems strange, but I've always found anti ageing products to work best for my skin as they aren't too harsh and most of the time help to moisturize and inject some life into my skin when it's looking quite dull.

The cleanser is quite milky which I'm not too keen on as I do like it when my cleansers foam up a bit when I use them, it just makes me think they're cleaning my skin slightly better. It also smells quite sweet which is also something I'm not too keen on but it isn't a smell which lingers after washing the product off which is good.

I've been using the cleanser and serum for about 3 weeks now and I've noticed a huge difference in my skin. It's softer, the dry patches are almost gone and don't occur as much as before, and it hasn't made me break out any more than usual - which is something I always worry about when switching up my skincare! The serum also has a slightly matte effect which is good when your using it in the morning as I usually find that a lot of products aimed at dry skin make your face look oily, not really the look I'm going for!

Overall, I'm very impressed with these products and they've become a staple in my skincare routine. I use these almost everyday which is quite a big thing for me as I usually use skincare for about a week before I just store it in my cupboard and start using something else, but I'm going to stick with this one and hopefully I will continue to receive  the brilliant results I've been seeing so far.

Acrylic Lipstick Storage

Saturday, 6 July 2013

Hi Ladies! It seems like ages since I last posted (probably because it has been ages) but ife has just been getting in the way recently. I'm still struggling to fit in a full time job, having a social life and blogging and finding the right balance is proving to be quite tough - but I'll get there! Anyway, I thought I'd do a post on a little bit of my make up storage as it is a new addition to my 'getting ready' area and I love it. At first I thought that I wouldnt like using acrylic storage because it would be hard to find the thing I was looking for etc, but I have to say, this is much easier than rummaging through my old lipstick container first thing in the morning!

The acrylic storage is from Banggood* and costs around $6 so that's about £4. I really don't think £4 is bad seeing as most of these little lipstick storage units cost at least £10. This one holds 24 lipsticks which I think is plenty because, as you can tell, I can hardly fill it. I've only recently been getting into lipstick instead of just wearing the same colour all the time so my collection still has room to grow with this container which I think is always useful.

I think acrylic storage is a great way of storing your make up as you can see it easily and it goes will almost all room decor. I find keeping my make up organised is really important so I'll definitely be investing in some new acrylic storage for the rest of my collection when the time comes to sort out all my make up!
