Birthday Haul and First Impressions

Saturday, 3 August 2013

Hi Ladies! If you read my blog or follow me on twitter, then you'll know that last Sunday was my Birthday. I got a little bit of money from family members and a Benefit voucher from the lovely people at work so I thought that I would go out and treat myself today by going to two of my favorite shops - Benefit and Victoria's Secret. They're pink, they're girly and they're basically heaven - what more could I ask for?!

Firstly, I headed to the Benefit counter at the big Boots on Oxford Street. I knew that I wanted to get the Watt's Up highlighter but I was unsure about what else to buy so I asked the lady if I could try out a few products that I'd had my eye on. Sadly, the lady at the counter was less than pleased that I wanted help and wouldn't even let me touch any of the products to see if they went with my skin tone or matched my pale skin. Eventually she let me try some erase paste on the back of my hand and tried to convince me that it was a good match for my skin tone but it clearly wasn't. After all of this she then informed me that I couldn't even use my voucher as they could only be used in Benefit boutiques. She pointed me in the direction of the newly opened Benefit Boutique on Carnaby Street however, when I got there it was closed as it hadn't even opened yet!

I then headed over to the Covent Garden boutique where the staff were much nicer and let me try on some of the products. I decided to get Watt's Up as I love the golden/champagne shimmer it has. I haven't properly tested this out yet so there will be review coming shortly but I'm already in love and I've finally got one of the products on my Benefit wishlist! I also got given a little make-up bag as I bought two items which I think is really cute and great for my handbag as I can just wipe it down if it gets dirty or I spill anything on it.

I also picked up Hoola, Benefit's famous bronzer. I recently hit pan on my MAC bronzer so it was time for a new one. I wanted a matte bronzer but I wasn't sure weather to go for Hoola or Laguna by Nars as they both have hundreds of great reviews but seeing as I had a gift card, I thought it was time to try Hoola. I'm wearing it now and I think it's great for contouring or as an all over face bronzer when used lightly.

I also went to Victoria's Secret as it's one of my favorite shops in America and now I live in London I can finally visit again. Needless to say, it's very expensive in England but they had an offer on their body sprays that I couldn't resist. I picked up Sensual Blush, Love Spell and Pure Seduction and I'm in love with them all. I much prefer to wear body sprays during the day as they're cheaper so it doesn't matter how many times you apply them and some of my favorite scents are body sprays. They're great for carrying around in your bag too so I'll definitely be keeping one at work and one in my handbag.

    1. It's so bad when the staff are like that and it completely puts me off buying the products! Luckily, most of their staff are lovely and their products are worth it! xx

Benefit Boxed Blushes are some of my favourite. They last for ages! Hoola is such a pretty one too.

  4. Ah I hate it when they make you feel like you're getting in the way - we're customers people!

I would just like to say how wonderful (in contrast!) the lady at Benefit in Debenhams in Nottingham was the other day - she practically gave me and my friend full-on makeovers! It was such a fab experience, and she was so helpful, that we spent loads more than we would have if she had been mean or unhelpful!

    1. I know, I was so suprised because they're usually lovely at Benefit! I know, it makes such a difference when they do that, all I wanted to do was try on some concealers to make sure they were the right shade but the women in the Covent Garden Boutique were so nice and helpful! xx

  8. Can't wait for the Victoria's Secret store to open near me, are the beauty items on the same kind of offers that they are in the US like 3 for so many pounds? X
