Elemis Fresh Skin Range: Review and Swatches

Friday, 2 August 2013

Hey Girls! I recently received a lovely parcel from the kind people at Elemis and I was so excited to find out that I had been sent some of their fresh skin range to try. I've read some other great reviews of this range so I really wanted to try it out for myself! I was sent the 'Skin Clear' face wash and moisturiser but I think they also do a peachy glow option which comes in purple packaging.

I've been suffering from acne and bad skin since I was 11 and unless you have been in that situation I don't think you will ever understand the physical and emotional pain that it causes, it destroyed my skin, my self confidence and made me want to hide away. Luckily my skin has dramatically cleared up now but I tried way more anti spot and skin clear products than any girl should have to with little success so I was quite skeptical about the effects of these products.

'Skin Clear' purifying face wash:

The skin clear purifying face wash is like a gel consistency which lathers up when you use it on your wet face and it smells amazing. I'd say the smell is quite fresh and smells kind of like citrus, which I think is perfect for using in the morning as it really wakes me up and makes my skin look more alive. The most important thing for me when choosing face wash is that it doesn't dry out my skin too drastically as I already have quite dry skin and I'm so happy to say that this face wash left my skin soft and dewy looking while fighting my bad skin. I never thought I'd be able to say this, but my skin has improved since using this product which is pretty amazing seeing as we've been in a heatwave so I've been sweating more (lovely!) which does tend to increase the number of spots I get. I'm literally in love with this product and will definitely be re-purchasing it. This face wash costs £11.99 which I think is actually a really reasonable price for Elemis products, I know it's more expensive than some drugstore cleansers but I really do believe that you pay for quality with skincare products, especially if you are dealing with acne and spots.

'Skin Clear' Mattifying Moisturiser:

This is a shine control moisturiser which I've also been using in the morning. It has the same smell as the face wash but it isn't too overpowering, just enough to wake you up and make you feel alive in the morning! The last couple of years my skincare has been a constant battle between treating my spots and dealing with the serious dry skin, or treating the dry skin and suffering with the spots so to have a moisturiser that fights spots and actually leaves your skin soft and hydrated is a dream come true for me. This comes in a cream form which I was a little worried about at first as I usually opt for gel ones as they don't clog my pores but this sunk into my skin in seconds and left my skin feeling super soft. I haven't had any major break outs since using this and my skin has been relatively hassle free which is amazing! One thing to point out with this moisturiser is that one pump could cover about 4 faces, it doesn't look like a lot when its on your hand but a little goes a very long way so don't press the pump all the way down unless you want to waste your product! This costs £19.99 so it's a little more expensive than the face wash but I really do think it's worth it if you have problem skin as using spot control products that dry out your skin cause more damage in the long run (I would know!) and actually cause your skin to produce more oil to try and correct the dryness, therefore causing more spots!

If anyone has any questions about bad skin then feel free to ask, I wish I'd have known more about treating acne when my skin was at its worst so I'm happy to dish out some advice!

    1. I'm quite lucky that I don't have much scarring, I've just been left with very big pores (some of them even look like chicken pocks scars) which is just as hard to cover up! xx
