Hair Oils: Macadamia Vs Moroccan Oil: Comparison and Review

Wednesday, 7 August 2013

Hi Ladies! I'm a great lover of hair oils and have been for some time, however up until recently I had only tried the Moroccan Oil which I have repurchased about 4 times as I love it so much. I received a little bottle of Macadamia Oil in the LDNBloggersParty goodie bag and I also received a little bottle of Moroccan oil for my Birthday so I thought I could do a comparison and give my opinion on which oil is better and worth your money.

Both of these oils have a hefty price tag but I think that they're definitely worth it if your concerned about how healthy your hair is. I have a massive addiction to my GHD's so it's essential that I try my best to look after my hair and try to protect it against the heat as best I can and I've found that hair oils are a great way of repairing the damage which the straighteners cause.

Packaging - I love the packaging of the Macadamia Oil, I think the green and brown pattern is so cute. The Moroccan Oil packaging is a bit more plain and simple but the glass bottle does give the impression that it's a luxury product. Also I love the shampoo packaging of the Moroccan Oil, however this review is about the actual oil so I'll save that review for another day!

Smell - After testing both products, I have to say that I prefer the smell of the Moroccan Oil. It smells quite sweet but not too overpowering, whereas the Macadamia oil smells a bit more like spice. Not like spicy food but more like a Christmas Spice candle if you know what I'm talking about. I've never been a huge fan of scents like that and have always opted for the sweet or fresh smells but the smell of the Macadamia oil is completely bare-able and I don't have a problem with it, just that if I had to choose I prefer the Moroccan oil smell.

Results - The Moroccan Oil was a clear winner in this category for me. Don't get me wrong, the Macadamia oil did work wonders for me and left my hair feeling soft and slightly less damaged, but my hair has never felt as soft as it has when I use my Moroccan Oil. It makes your hair so soft and smooth that you can't help playing with it and it definitely makes me feel less guilty about my heat abuse!

I hope this comparison has helped you if you were unsure of which brand to go for! For me, the Moroccan Oil was a clear winner and I will definitely be repurchasing it.

P.s As some of you may know, I've been nominated to win 'Best New Beauty Blog' in the Cosmo Blog Awards, I'm still in shock that I was even considered but I would love it if you could vote for Lipgloss and Lashes! You can vote for me and the other contestants here
