Benefit Boi-ing Concealer | Review & Swatches

Tuesday, 3 September 2013

Hi Dolls! I hope your all having a great week! I'm so excited as this Thursday and Friday I will be going to two Company Beauty Week events! Both of them look amazing but I don't want to spoil it for all of you who aren't going as I will be posting about the events soon. Me and concealer have always had a bit of a tough time, I can never seem to find one that I like. For years I stayed away from concealer as I didn't really see it necessary  which you may find odd as I suffered from terrible acne all over my face, but I didn't want to smother the spots in a thick concealer as I think that makes them look worse and sometimes more obvious. Since my acne has cleared up and I'm only left with a few spots here and there I found even less need to use a concealer as I thought my foundation was doing a good enough job. However, since starting a full time job my dark circles have gotten so much worse and I've been testing a few different concealers to try and cover them up and also to hide the few spots I get as I think by the age of 20 I should be done with spots!

I really hate stick concealers as I feel that they tug at my skin and often look cakey so I tried the Collection 2000 one which everyone was raving about. Was it worth the hype? No. So I picked up this Benefit concealer as I've always loved their products so it seemed like a good idea to try my first high end concealer from them.

Boi-ing is supposed to be an industrial strength concealer that camouflages dark circles, shadows and discoloration without creasing to create a natural seamless look. I wanted to get a full coverage concealer to hide my very tired looking eyes and blemishes so this seemed like the perfect option. It has a lovely creamy consistency which is another thing thing that I wanted from my concealer as I can get very dry skin and didn't want it to cling to any dry patches. I apply this with my fingers instead of a brush as I find that it works better and glides on smoother when warmed up slightly by my fingers.

I have to say, I am impressed with this concealer, it certainly is industrial strength and covers everything, there wasn't even a trace of dark shadow under my eye after using this which is exactly what I was looking for and the creamy consistency is great to use as it blends in with foundation so you can't tell that your wearing concealer. I got this is in the lightest shade which is 01 as I have very pale skin. This is slightly too light for me which I find helps to brighten my under eye area which is always a bonus.

This cost me £17.50 which you may think is a lot for such a small pot of concealer but a little really does go a long way and I do think its worth paying a higher price once for a concealer which does its job and I love rather than paying £5-£10 a couple of times to test out cheaper concealers which I find aren't as effective. I think I have finally won my battle to find the perfect concealer and it's another win for Benefit who are fast becoming my most loved make up brand.

Which concealers are you loving at the moment?

  1. I can't stand the Collection concealer either - it is so cakey, creases and is orange! I have been wanting to try this one for ages, I think I might give it a go after hearing such good things!

    1. It made my undereyes look worse because of the orange tones! This one is much brighter and matches my skin. It also brightens my eye area too as it's a hint too light for me which I love! xx

  3. I absolutely love this concealer - it's so good, and the shade actually matches my skin tone rather than being orange haha. I just wish it was cheaper haha.
Hope you have a great time at the Company Beauty Week events.

    1. I know, I find it so hard to get a concealer that matched my skin, they're all too orange toned for me but this one is perfect and it also brightens my eyes because the shade is a little light! xx

  4. I have the erase paste and don't really get in with it. Do you know if its similar to that?

    1. Hi Rachel, I haven't tested out erase paste on my face for too long but I've tried it once and didn't like it. I think boing has a better colour for me as erase paste was just too pink toned for my skin. I also prefer the more creamy texture of this concealer compared to erase paste. Why didn't you like erase paste? xx

  5. Thanks for the post. I will be going straight to the Benefit girlies when I get in to work tomorrow. I always thought my foundation done the job but this would be really handy in my handbag as I have such bad circles under my eyes and spots and redness can be very annoying.

    Thanks for the post

    1. You'll definitely not regret it! I used to think my foundation was enough too till the dark circles started getting worse! It's such a great size for your handbag and as it isn't a liquid it wont leak anywhere! xx

  6. The Collection one seems to work for me depending on what I'm trying to conceal, another great one is Bobbi Brown, definitely worth a try.

    1. That's such a shame, maybe because it is quite thick? xx

  9. I tried this but I hated it because it was too thick and dragged my skin! Bobbi Brown creamy concealer/corrector are so so amazing. Never found a concealer better!

  12. I can never seem to find a concealer I like either, I've tried the Collection one and hated it! I actually bought this the other day but I'm really not that impressed, it looked a little off on my dry skin :( So I guess the search continues haha!
