MAC Eyeshadow In 'RetroSpeck' | Review & Swatches

Thursday, 3 October 2013

Hello lovelies! I hope your all having a fab week! This week has been so tiring for me but also so exciting, I’ve been to the Cosmo Blog Awards and hosted my own meet up, the #RUSHBloggerMeet, so it’s a nice treat to just snuggle up in bed with a hot chocolate and a scented candle on the go! I won’t say too much about the #RushBloggerMeet as I'm going to sit down and write that post up while I'm on a roll, so you'll just have to wait and see what me and the other lovely bloggers got up to!

Anyway, onto the post. I’ve mentioned before on my blog that I love wearing a golden eye look either in the day time or for a night out, so I thought I would show you one of my favourite eye shadows for creating a golden eye look.

MAC describes ‘Retrospeck’ as a bleached blonde but I definitely think it’s more golden than this with pretty specks of silver. In my opinion, this eye shadow is the perfect ‘eye brightener’ if your having a dull day. Retrospeck used with Phloof! Is the perfect combination if you want a bright eyed golden champagne day look and it is often a look I find myself reaching for.

MAC ‘Retrospeck’ is a lustre, which many people find slightly daunting however, when buffed into the skin instead of just swiped across the eye it gives a lovely glowy finish, keeping the fall out to a minimum, because nobody wants a disco ball face! I like to use my Sigma Tapered Blending Brush to achieve this effect.
I also love to use this eye shadow as a base colour for a night look. When I am creating a golden night look I like to use Retrospeck as my base colour and Phloof! In my inner corners to brighten my eyes. To create more definition and make they look more of a smokey golden look I like to blend Mildew (from the Urban Decay Ammo Palette) into my outer corners and crease, while smudging Smog (also from the Urban decay Ammo Palette) on my lash line to create a golden olive night look.

Which eye shadows are your favourite for creating a golden look? I think it looks gorgeous with a tan and it also helps to warm up my pale skin!

    1. There are so many under-rated MAC eyeshadow shades out there, I love any kind of golden eyeshadows so this one is definitely a firm favourite! xx
