Maybelline Colour Tatto's | Review & Swatches

Saturday, 26 October 2013

Hello Lovelies! I hope your all having a fab weekend! I feel so much better now that I've been able to take a batch of photos for my blog again. The winter weather really is making it difficult but we had about half an our of sun through the window today so I pounced on it and took photos for a few blog posts I have lined up - hurrah! If any of you have any suggestions on how to stop the winter gloom from ruining my photo's please leave them in the comments below!

Anyway, Onto the post. I've been wanting to get my hands on one of the MAC Paint Pots for a while now but have always been put off by the price, I just can't justify spending £17 on one of them when there are much cheaper ones available, and I wasn't sure how much use I would get out of one. While I was in Boots I saw that they were having an offer on Maybelline cosmetics so I thought it would be a perfect time to try out the Colour Tattoo's. I'm sure you've all heard of them as every blogger has been raving about them since they were released, but for some reason I had always held back. At the moment they are on a 3 for 2 offer at Boots, so I only actually paid for 2 of them, so if you're thinking of buying them now is a good time to stock up!

The Maybelline Colour Tattoo's are cream eye shadows, designed to be long lasting which can either be used as a base or on their own. The range now has more colours than when they originally came out but I was a little disappointed that they didn't have a dupe for the 'Bare Study' Paint Pot as this was the one I wanted most from MAC.

I picked up Pink Gold, Permanent Taupe and On And On Bronze as these were the shades I thought I would get the most use out of. Unfortunately I couldn't test them in store as all of the testers were dried up so I didn't want to pick one of the more daring colours then regret it later. Pink Gold is a lovely pink toned golden colour which will go great with some of my pink or gold eye shadows to add some more dimension to the look or to make my eye shadows more vibrant when used as a base. Permanent Taupe has more of a matte finish and is one which I will definitely be using as a base. It's a very plain colour but I think it will make a great base for my neutral brown eye shadows and would look lovely with some golden glitter shadow on the outer corners and crease. And lastly I picked up On And On Bronze. This is the one I think is most talked about and I can see why. It's such a wearable bronze colour which looks great either on its own during the day time or you can use it as a base when creating a bronze night look.

Overall I'm very impressed with the Colour Tattoo's as they did act as great eye shadow bases making my eye shadows stand out more and last longer, I just wish there were more in the range!

    1. Pink Gold and Bronze are definitely my favourites, I think I'll have to use taupe as a base but it will still be useful! xx
