Ask Becky - Your Questions Answered!

Thursday, 28 November 2013

Hi Lovelies! I hope you've all had a fab week and are excited for the weekend! This weekend I have one of my best friends from Uni coming to stay with me, I haven't seen her in about 6 months since I moved to London so I'm so excited to catch up and do all the fun things I have planned, including Winter Wonderland which I'm so excited about! Anyway, enough rambling...I recently had the idea of doing another 'about me' tag seeing as a lot has changed since I did one when I first started blogging, but instead of answering the same old questions I thought I would ask you all to submit your questions that you really wanted to see in the tag, and here they are!

1. Where do you work?

A few of you may have heard me talk about work or seen a few of my Instagram snaps from my office, which I'm guessing is why someone wanted to know the answer to this question. I currently work at Disney head offices as a Digital Marketing Intern. This is a compulsory part of my degree, but I got the job all by myself with no help from my Uni and am treated as a proper employee so basically this is an entry level job. I'm so sad that this will only last a year as I love working there and I really couldn't ask for anything more from my placement year, I mean who doesn't love a bit of Disney Magic every day!

2. What do you like about yourself, and what to you dislike?

I'm going to start with what I don't like about myself as this is probably easier to answer! Something I really dislike about myself is my skin. I suffered with acne for around 7 or 8 years and still suffer with bad skin now, I was teased at school because of it as I never grew out of it like most of my friends. Thankfully my skin is a lot better now, but it has left me very self conscious about my skin and I am constantly worried about how many spots I have. Another thing I would change would be my body shape, not necessarily my weight. Sure, it would be great to have a supermodel body but that's never going to happen. If I could change my shape I would probably have a smaller bum and tummy and maybe bigger boobs so I was a bit more in proportion! Now onto what I like about myself, which was surprisingly tough to think of! One thing I do like about myself is my height (weird I know). Although I am usually teased about being quite short, I quite like being short as it means I can get away with wearing sky scraper heels and not towering over all of my friends! I also like being a brunette, I could never imagine being blonde and I do love my hair colour, although I am thinking of maybe dyeing it a more chocolate brown.

3. What advice would you give to newbie bloggers?

I wouldn't really say I'm an expert who should be giving advice as I've only been doing this for about 9 months but I would say staying true to yourself and giving yourself a break are my two main pieces of advice. Always post because you actually want to, if your just posting  because you think a product is hyped up and will get you views your readers will see straight through this and you'll be doing yourself no favours. Also, taking a break to regain your blogging mojo is important, as soon as it becomes a stress to post every day, etc and stops becoming fun, your posts will probably become dull and your readers won't want to read, there is no harm in taking the odd week off to chill and get your ideas together.

4. How do you keep up with the latest beauty trends?

To be honest, I'm pretty bad at this. I have quite a hectic life so making sure I'm always up to date can be hard! I usually find out about new trends by reading blogs, but also subscribing to your favourite brands mailing lists are a great way to keep up to date and find out about new releases.

5. What did you study at school?

Bit of an odd one but hey ho! For GCSE's I did Biology, Graphic Design, Art, Geography, History, ICT, Maths, English Lit, English Language and German. I then wen't onto sixth form where I studied A Levels in Economics, German, History and Product Design. I did a bit of a weird mix but I always knew I wanted to do something creating in business, which is where I've ended up!

6. How much do you spend on beauty products each month?

I can't really put a value on this as sometimes it's just one of those months when everything runs out and sometimes I just don't have the money to spend on make up as I have other things to buy! I tend to save my money to spend on higher price items which I really want instead of spending money on a lot of make up. I would also just like to point out here that I do have a job, I do pay my taxes, I don't have a student loan and 99% of my products I buy myself, occasionally my Mum will treat me when it's my Birthday or similar, as I have had a few nasty emails on this topic accusing me of spending my student loan (tax payers money) on make up instead of what it was intended for, but really that is impossible seeing as I currently earn all of my money.

7. What foundation and concealer do you use for a full coverage make up look?

When I'm going on a night out I tend to opt for full coverage make up and my go to foundation is MAC Studio Sculpt. It is quite thick when you first use it so it may come as a shock but it's actually really easy to blend into your skin and doesn't look cakey. I love Benefit Boing concealer to conceal both my dark circles, redness and spots. It works great and literally does cover everything!

8. Are there any products which you still use now, that you used when you first started using make up?

There aren't many as I'm quite bad at shopping around, I'm always wanting to test out different brands and formulas which often means switching brands. But one thing I have kept using is the Urban Decay Ammo palette. My Mum actually gave this to me when I first started using make up, I think she didn't like the colours but I'm not sure as I can't really remember. I have completely used up 'Grifter' which is a really pretty purple colour, and now Maui Wowie (love that name!) and Smog are also on there way out! I love the colours for both daytime and nighttime looks and I can see it still being there in years to come!

So there you have it, I've answered all of your questions! If you have any more that you would like me to answer then please leave them in the comments below and I will be sure to get back to you!
