Top 5 Drugstore Make-Up Picks

Tuesday, 26 November 2013

Hello Beauties! The other day I posted my 'Top 5 High End Make-Up Picks' so I thought I would also share with you my favourite drugstore products too. I don't shop for drugstore make up that much (not because I'm loaded, trust me, I'm not) because I prefer to save up my money and spend it on high end make up which I know I really want and I know will work. There is so much on offer in the drugstore make up isles, it's hard to tell what is going to work and what isn't but since blogging I've been more open to buying my make up from high street brands and I've found some products that are really worth saving some money on.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo's - Boots & Superdrug

I've been lusting after a MAC paint pot for ages now, but instead of parting with around £20 for one cream eye shadow I thought I would try the Mabelline Colour Tattoo's first as I had never tried cream eyeshadows before and wanted to check that I would get a lot of use out of them. My two favourites are On And On Bronze and Pink Gold as I think these are the two most wearable shades from the range. These cream eye shadows really are great and definitely give the paint pots a run for their money. They stay put and don't slip off your eyelids and make great bases for other powder shadows. The only drawback to these are that the colour range is slightly limited. A lot of the colours are quite hard to wear or just really bright, but Bourjois has recently launched their own range of cream to powder shadows and their colour range is a lot more wearable so \I would recommend checking them out.

Revlon Lip Butters - Boots & Superdrug

I bought one of these back in March when I first started blogging and I've been using it ever since. I picked up the shade 'Strawberry Shortcake' which is a cute bubblegum pink colour. The Revlon lip butters are a mixture between lipstick and lipgloss and I love the creamy consistency of these. I really want to pick up some of the other shades but I don't know if I'm daring enough to wear some of the brighter shades like Lollipop for example. The only downside to these are that the colours are a bit hit and miss with pigmentation. A lot of the colours are extremely pigmented but some of the shades aren't, so I would recommend swatching before buying with these lip butters.

L'Oreal Collection Privee Lipsticks - Boots & Superdrug

I always struggle with the drugstore to find lipsticks which I like. Either the consistency is all wrong or I hate the colours - there either too bright or just don't suit my skin tone. However, the L'Oreal Collection Privee lipsticks are perfect for any skin tone. It is a collection of nude lipsticks created by each of the L'Oreal Celebrities to match their skin tone, so it's easy to pick  one which suits your skin tone. Also, the consistency of these lipsticks are great, they are so similar to MAC cremesheen lipsticks and I would even go as far as to say I like them better.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush - Boots

I couldn't do a drugstore top picks without mentioning the Real Techniques brushes could I?! I actually only own one but it is definitely my favourite foundation brush. Its easy to work with and blend with, leaving you with an airbrushed finish. I use it almost daily and definitely want to pick up some more brushes, especially as they are not too expensive.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation - Boots & Superdrug

I picked up this foundation after numerous recommendations by bloggers and at first I hated it. It broke me out and didn't last on my skin as well as some of my other foundations but recently I've been loving it and the bottle is almost out! I find that if I wear this with a good primer it lasts much longer on my face although I do need to powder throughout the day and I think my skin just needed to get used to this foundation as I had been using the same one for a very long time.

I hope you liked my drugstore picks, and please leave any recommendations of products I should pick up from the drugstore or anything you would like to see on my blog!

  7. I love this! gives me ideas on what to spend more of my money on :P I completely agree with the Maybelline Colour Tattoos, they are so amazing, I've built up quite the mini collection. They are so good, I would love to try MAC Paint Pots but they can be more than $30 in Australia, unfortunately. :(
