Top 5: High End Make-Up Picks

Sunday, 24 November 2013

Hello Ladies! When it comes to high end make-up, I like to do my research and make sure that I will get a lot of use out of it and that it works well, as most of it is very expensive and a bit of a splurge for me. I thought I would put together my top 5 high end make-up picks to help anyone looking to purchase any high end make up for themselves or as a gift as Christmas is fast approaching. I obviously haven't tried every brand and product out there, but these are the 5 that really stand out to me and are worth the money.

The Naked Palette - Urban Decay

The Naked Palette took the beauty world by storm when it first came out as it was one of those palettes where every shade is completely wearable. With a beautiful mixture of matte, satin and shimmery shades, these buttery soft eyeshadows are perfect for any skin tone. Although many did, I didn't rush out to get myself a Naked palette as I wasn't sure if I would get a lot of use from it and if it would be worth my money so I picked up a drugstore dupe which I used to death. After I had hit pan on so many of the dupe's shades, I decided it was finally time to splash out on the real thing knowing full well that I would get lots of use out of it. I use my Naked palette every day and it can be used to create so many looks that it really is a great addition to anyones make up collection. This retails for £37 which is expensive but when you do the maths, that's around £3.10 per shade, which is to me is a complete bargain for the quality and pigmentation that you get in every shade.

MAC Studio Fix Powder - MAC

This is by far the best powder I've ever used. I've tried so many different (cheaper) powders in the hope that they will replace this little compact and save me a few pennies but nothing compares to this in my eyes. This gives me great coverage without looking cakey on my skin and lasts way longer than any other powder I've tried. This is my second one of these and I've hit pan again, this time I think I will just go straight back to MAC to repurchase instead of shopping around and trying other brands.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer - Benefit

Hoola is the UK's number 1 selling bronzer and I can see why. Its perfect on a range of skin tones and it's matte finish makes it look completely natural with no hint of muddy-ness or orange tones. Although I have never tried NARS Laguna which is said to be up there with Hoola as one of the top bronzers, I have no need to as I love this one so much. I find that I always have to go high end with my bronzers as the drugstore options leave my skin looking muddy and orange or are just way too dark for my pale skin.

YSL Le Tient De Touche Eclat Foundation - YSL

I was orginally given a free sample of this foundation before this launched at my local YSL counter and it was love at first application. Both me and my Mum went out and bought the full size bottle after trying and loving the sample. It applies so smoothly and works wonders on my dry skin. It gives you a fresh, dewy glow without being too shiny and it smells amazing. This is the ultimate radiance foundation and I'm already on my second bottle.

MAC Creme Cup Lipstick - MAC

I couldn't not include this lipstick, I wear this almost everyday and on nights out with a smokey eye and I've get to find a drugstore comparison. I would say that all MAC lipsticks are in my top 5 but this one in particular as it's the perfect nude pink for my skin tone. This is a cremesheen lipstick which is my favourite of the lipsticks on offer at MAC as it keeps your lips hydrated and glides on really smoothly.

I hope you liked my top high end make up picks, I'd love to know what yours are as I'm always looking for new products to try!

  1. Great choices - the size of the box puts me off Hoola though, find it quite hard to work with. Naked Pallet is one of my all time favourites....x

  14. The NAKED palette is definitely a great high-end purchase for anyone! Very versatile and great investment.

I'm sad that the Hoola bronzer didn't look too good on me, even as light as I tried to apply it, it always makes me look muddy!
