YSL Beaute Lipgloss in Shade 18 | Review & Swatches

Wednesday, 18 December 2013

I love the Autumn/Winter beauty trends this year, one of them being the Berry Lip, but I don't love it on myself. Darker lip colours tend to wash me out and make me look a little dead and ghostly as I'm so pale. Instead I've been focusing the winter colours on my eyes and leaving my lips neutral.

I've recently been loving this YSL lipgloss as it's a great colour for all you pale ladies looking for a nude lip that won't was you out. This lipgloss is a pink toned nude which I find more wearable on my pale skin as it doesn't wash all the colour out of my lips but instead adds a more natural, girly looking nude lip.

This lipgloss has quite a wide doefoot applicator which I find makes it so much easier to apply as you get more product on the applicator and aren't coating your lips in layers up on layers of lipgloss which often results in a horrible sticky feeling but I'm not sure this applicator would be amazing on a darker lipgloss which needs more precision as it isn't the most precise of applicators.

The formula itself is really where this lipgloss won me over. I hate that sticky feeling that lipgloss gives you so usually opt for lipstick but this formula is more creamy than sticky which make it feel very moisturizing. Also, the pigmentation is very good on this lipgloss, I often wear this on its own as I don't feel that it needs a lipstick underneath it to boost the colour. When I'm wearing this over lipstick I tend to opt for creme cup by MAC as I think its a pretty close colour match.

The one thing I would say about this shade is that I don't think it would look as great on me if I had a tan, creme cup often washes me out when I have a tan instead of making my tan look more intense so I think this may have the same effect but I haven't been able to try this yet as I am extremely pale and in need of sunshine at the moment!

    1. I decided to go for a colour I knew I'd get a lot of wear from as I never really go for 'out there' bold colours, but the consistency is lovely so I'd say go for it! xx
