e.l.f 'Gotta Glow' Blusher | Review & Swatches

Tuesday, 11 February 2014

Hello Lovelies! I've made it no secret that I love to treat myself to high end make up every once in a while if it's something I really want and will wear a lot, but that doesn't mean I'm not partial to a good dupe, and that's exactly what e.l.f's 'Gotta Glow' blusher is. I've heard a lot about this product being compared to the NARS Albatross highlighters. I don't actually own the NARS version but I've swatched it countless times at the counter, and I have to say, e.l.f have produced a pretty decent dupe.

e.l.f 'Gotta Glow' is listed as a blusher on their website however, this is definitely a highlight. It's a lovely creamy colour with a golden sheen to it which looks so pretty swept across your cheek bones. Packaging-wise, this is a pretty obvious copy of the NARS packaging, which I don't really have any complaints about as I love the sleek black packaging of NARS and MAC products. Admittedly, the elf packaging does look like a cheap imitation of the NARS packaging, but for the price difference I can't really complain about that, as it's what I'd expect.

The real difference in the two products, aside from the price, is the texture. The NARS highlighter is a lot more finely milled, which is what I'd expect for the price but the elf product is a lot chunkier and has more fall out. However, this is easily fixed with one tap of your brush before applying this to your face and there's no fall out in sight. The elf 'Gotta Glow' costs a mere £3.75, that's a whopping £17.25 cheaper than the NARS Albatross highlighter, and if the only difference is a tap of a brush, then I'm sold and I'll keep my money!

I'm honestly really impressed with this product, like I have been with all of the elf product that I've tried. What are your favourite elf products?

  2. I must be one of the few bloggers who hasn't tried E.L.F yet! I always want to, but I've got to be honest the fact I can't actually see the products puts me off a bit.

  4. I love Elf! For the price you just can't beat it. Their mineral eyeshadows are amazing, I have so many of them and they stay on so well. I also love their eyebrow kit ! Will definitely be trying this next as I'm still on a search for a good enough highlighter. xxx

    1. I agree with it being a bit clearer, this one is definitely a bit more powdery - but I can't really complain considering the price difference! xx

  9. I haven't tried ELF products before but I've heard mixed reviews on some of their products. Some seem to be really good but others seem to be a miss.

  10. It looks a bit more powdery than the NARS version, but perhaps it would make a good 'trial product' for people who are not sure if it'll work for them? I really want the NARS version but I'm unsure whether the tone would suit my pale complexion.. it's worth trying the ELF for that silly price :))

    1. This one is more powdering than the NARS one but I find when I just tap the excess off my brush it's okay. But your right, this would be a great product to test before deciding to buy the NARS one! xx
