Current Evening Skincare Routine

Thursday, 27 March 2014

Hello Beauties! It's been a while since I posted about my skincare routine, and it's fair to say that last time I did, it was lacking a bit and I wasn't completely happy with it. As you can tell from the picture, my skincare routine and collection has grown a bit since last time and my skin has been thanking me for the more time I've invested in my skincare routine, so I thought I'd share with you what products I use and why they work for me. I don't use all of these products every day (I'd be in the bathroom for hours) but all of these products make an appearance every week.

First off I remove my make up using the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. I used to think that I hated Micellar Waters and saw them as a bit of a gimmick, but now I've tried the Garnier one I've realized that I just haven't found the right one for me. Before, I was using the L'Oreal one as I'd heard it was a great dupe for Bioderma but I really didn't get on well with it. I found it left my skin a bit sticky and would take so many cotton pads to remove my make up. Since then I've swapped to the Garnier Micellar Water and I've now realized what all the fuss is about. This removes my make up exceptionally well and leaves my skin feeling fresh, without a hint of stickiness at all.

After removing my make up, I use a hot cloth to open up my pores and wet my face then use my Elemis Fresh Skin cleanser (I use the Skin Clear variety). This is my third bottle of this cleanser, so you can probably already guess that I love the stuff. It helps to keep my skin clear without drying out my skin, and also works on fighting oil. It also smells lovely and feels fresh on your skin, so you really feel like your skin has had a good clean and all the grime is removed.

After cleansing, I like to use a skin clearing face mask once a week. My current weapon of choice is the REN Invisible Pores Face Mask which works brilliantly to keep my skin clear and reduce the size of my pores. This contains French Clay which helps to extract any impurities from deep down in your pores and I can really see a difference in my skin after using this mask. It has also helped to calm my skin during some particularly nasty break outs, and I honestly couldn't be without it now.

I also like to use an exfoliating toner twice a week to keep my skin clear and smooth. Currently I'm using the Clarins Exfoliating Brightening Toner which has worked really well for my skin. It's not too harsh so it's good to use if you've got sensitive skin like me and really helps to improve your complexion. If you don't like using grainy exfoliators then I'd really reccomend this as it's a lovely way to keep your skin smooth without aggravating it too much.

My skin can also get really dry and uncomfortable as well as having a very oily T-Zone (the joy!) so it's really important that I keep it hydrated using products which won't cause me to break out of produce more oil. To start off I like to use the Simple Hydrating Moisturiser as it doesn't contain anything that will provoke my sensitive skin and is just a lovely light moisturiser, great for everyday use. Afterwards, I apply the Avene Soothing Hydrating Serum* to give my skin an extra moisure boost. This really helps to calm my skin down and give it the extra moisture it needs, and I love how light it feels on my skin. To top this all off I apply my Yves Rocher eye cream* and a few drops of the Tarte Pure Maracuja Oil *to my face, as I've found this really helps to nourish my skin and has definitely improved my overall complexion - it's truly a miracle worker.

  8. I had the same issue with the L'Oreal cleansing water :-/ I switched to a cleansing balm and am much happier now but I think I could be tempted back to cleansing waters since you say the garnier one is so good :-)

  11. Lovely thorough skincare routine. I use the same serum and moisturiser as you. It's interesting that you apply your moisturiser before your serum :)
