FOTD: Spring Time Make Up

Monday, 24 March 2014

Hello Ladies! Last week marked the official first day of Spring, I'm not quite sure which day it actually was but hey ho, spring has finally sprung! To mark the end of Winter (my most hated season) I thought I would pop up a Spring Make Up Look.

To start off I primed my face using the Clarins Instant Smooth Primer as this helps to minimize the appearance of my huge pores and make my foundation apply smoother. Next I used my new favourite foundation, MAC Studio Fix Fluid, this is a really great matte foundation for any oily skinned girls out there as it really does last all day and the colour range is great if you've got pale skin like me. To finish off my face make up I applied my MAC Studio Fix Powder and swept a little of Benefit's Hervana Blush across the apples of my cheeks to warm things up a bit. Although I didn't want to go too heavy on the blusher as I wanted the eyes and lips to do the talking with this make up look.

Next on the agenda was filling in my brows. My brows are pretty much non existant if I don't fill them in so I used my Benefit Browzings to fill them in (The Sleek Brow Kit is a great dupe for this is your on a budget) and then went over them with the Benefit Gimme Brow to set my brows in place and pick up all of the small invisible hairs, and generally create a more defined look.

I decided to go with a lilac and purple eye for this look as this just screams spring to me, it's probably not everyone's cup of tea but I personally think purple eye-shadow is really flattering, especially if you have green eyes like me. To start off I applied the Maybelline Pink Gold Colour Tattoo all over my lid as a base for the rest of my eyeshadow. I then used a light lilac colour from this elf palette then used one of the more violet shades from this palette through my crease, then I used a fluffy brush to blend this out and soften the harsh lines. To finish the eye look I lined my eyes using Beauty Marked by MAC as this is a black shade with purple shimmer running through it and then applied two coats of the Tarte Lights, Camera Flashes mascara*.

Two of the big lip trends for this spring are bright fuchsia lips or blood orange lips. Although I don't think that either of these trends suit me, I decided to go for bright pink lips as it was the best of the two, and honestly, I don't own any orange or red lipsticks. I applied MAC's Girl About Town lipstick lightly onto my lips as I didn't want them to be too bold, as I'm more of a neutral girl and didn't want to look too 'barbie' with purple eyes and pink lips.

So there you have it, one spring make up look. I'm going to try and make more of an effort to do one Face Of The Day post a week from now on as I've got loads of make up looks saved on my phone that I really need to get around to recreating!
