Nail Polish Haul | OPI & Essie

Wednesday, 5 March 2014

Hello Lovelies! I hope your all having a great week, I'm going back home this weekend for 4 days so I'm really looking forward to having some time off, which will no doubt be spent sorting my blog out! I know I've been a bit rubbish with replying to comments, etc recently but everything has just been so hectic that I haven't had time, but I promise to reply this weekend! Anyway, last Sunday me, my housemate and my friend from work headed over to this years Pro Beauty show at the Excel. I had a great day and there were loads of great products on offer. A lot of the normally more expensive nail polish brands such as OPI, Jessica and Essie had some great deals on, so I thought I'd show you what I picked up. A lot of my nail polish is now starting to go a bit gloopy and is in major need of a sort out, so it was great to replace some old shades which I could no longer use!

Essie 'Fiji' - I've wanted this shade for so long now after seeing it on numerous Instagram accounts and while it was on offer for under £5 at Pro Beauty, I thought there wouldn't have been a better time to pick it up. Fiji is a lovely pale pink colour, so it's perfect for pastel lovers like myself. You also only need one coat to apply this nail varnish as it's really highly pigmented.

Essie 'Mint Candy Apple' - This is another Essie shade that I've been wanting for ages now. It's a lovely pastel mint green colour which I think would be perfect for spring. Much like Fiji, you only really need one coat of this colour and your good to go as it's so opaque.

OPI 'I Theadore You' - When I visited the OPI stand they had colour charts for all of their colours which was really helpful, and I just couldn't keep myself away from all of the pretty nudes they had in one section! I ended up with about 5 or 6 in my hand but managed to only walk away with 1 as the colours I'd picked were all quite similar. I Theadore You is a really pretty pink/nude colour. It's a lot more sheer than Fiji so it looks really great if your going for a subtle french manicure look, as if you only apply 1 coat you can still see the white tips of your nails, which actually looks really good with this colour. I've also found that since wearing the OPI shades I picked up, my nails have been chipping less regularly which is great as I'm usually the one who ruins my nails about an hour after applying them.

OPI 'Koala Berry' - I also had to put a lot of bright pink colours back when I visited the OPI stand, as I do have a bit of a problem when it comes to pink nail polish. In the end I went for Koala Berry, which is showing up as quite red in the picture for some reason, but its more of a deep fuschia colour. I think this will be really pretty in the summer months when it's warmer as I can imagine it looking great with a tan.

OPI 'Pink Before You Leap' - Pink Before You Leap is a gorgeous pinky mauve shimmer shade which goes on quite sheer. This looks really pretty over lighter pink colours or just on its own for a subtle look. You can build this polish up but its definitely more of a sheer and subtle colour. This looks great over I Theadore You for a pretty shimmery pink look.

Essie 'A Cut Above' - Yet again, this is another shade I've been wanting for a while now. I saw this shade at Christmas when Essie released it as one of the Luxe Effects polishes and loved it instantly. I love a good sparkly shade and this pink colour is perfect. The glittery bits are quite chunky but they apply really smoothly. One issue I usually have with glittery nail polish is that it looks so great in the bottle, but then when you apply it, it goes on so sheer and is hardly noticeable, but this one from Essie gives you really good coverage and you can actually see the glitter, which is always a good thing.

Which nail polish brands are your favourite? I really need to start replacing all of the ones that have gone gloopy!
