Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipsticks | Review

Saturday, 15 March 2014

Hello Ladies! I hope your all having a great weekend and enjoying the beautiful sunshine that we've been having! I've been loving the weather this week, I can now walk home from work in the light and the sunshine really does seem to put everyone in a better mood. Until this week, Tarte was just a brand that I lusted over, knowing that it would never be mine - unless I wanted to make a very expensive shopping trip to America. On Tuesday I was lucky enough to attend the Tarte QVC launch party and pick up a few goodies on my way out.

One of the things I picked up was this trio of their Amazonian Butter Lipsticks* so I thought I'd share my thoughts with you all in time for payday and the release of Tarte Cosmetics on QVC (coming on the 28th March).

At the moment, Tarte will only be selling 3 shades of these lipsticks on QVC but after the launch, Tarte have assured me that they will be bringing more over for their UK fans. The first lipstick in the trip is Rose, which is surprisingly my favourite shade from the set. I'm usually more of a light pink or nude lipstick lover and shy away from pretty much anything else but this rose pink lipstick compliments my skin tone perfectly. It's a lovely rosy pink which is bordering on being a berry lipstick, so it's a perfect summer shade for any berry lipstick lovers. Second in the set is Soft Coral, which is more of an orange toned coral with a hint of pink. This lisptick has the tiniest bit of shimmer but it's so fine that it's hardly noticable - just enough to give a glint to your lips. I think that this shade would look perfect with a tan and has come just in time for me, as I've ran out of my favourite Clinque coral lipstick. And lastly is golden pink. Golden Pink is a light salmon pink colour which looks lovely on my pale skin.

The name says it all with this product, these lipsticks really are quite buttery - think MAC Cremesheen formula but a little better (never thought I'd be saying that!). They glide on to your lips effortlessly and have a semi-gloss finish, so I'd say these are somewhere inbetween a cremesheen and a lustre finish if your comparing them to MAC lipsticks. Another thing to note is that these are actually quite long lasting, considering they have a creamy formula. I applied these in the morning and went a few hours before having to touch up, which is more than any of my MAC lipsticks have lasted.

Overall, I really love this trio of lipsticks. Tarte have got it just right with the formula and every one of these colours is right up my street and would suit a large range of skin tones. The only problem I have with these lipsticks is the packaging. Don't get me wrong, I love how the packaging is the same colour as the shade (makes is soo much easier in the mornings) but my problem is that the packaging is made out of card. Mainly just the lid and the outer case, but this just worries me a little that they're going to get ruined. The card packaging is made quite sturdy and it is hard to bend and break but it just bothers me a little.

The Trio of Amazonian Butter Lipsticks is available exclusively on QVC from the 28th March, and retail for £20, which I really don't think is too bad for 3 lipsticks in wearable colours.
