mac plink! lipstick

mac plink! lipstick swatch

Hi Ladies! I'm back again with yet another MAC lipstick (can you tell I'm a bit addicted) but don't worry, this will be my last review of one for a while (hopefully as I'm trying to save!). The last lipstick that my parents picked up for me in New York is Plink!, a lovely lustre lipstick from MAC.

Plink! is a warm toned seashell pink which comes across as quite light and slightly more sheer than some of my other MAC lipsticks. When applied this has the tiniest amount of shimmer giving you a lovely sheen on your lips, but it's nothing too much making it very wearable.

If your looking for something that you can wear on an everyday basis, maybe to work or school, then I'd really recommend this lipstick. It's perfect for when I don't want a bold lip but still want some colour.

Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce Cologne | Review

Monday, 28 April 2014

Hi Beauties! I know you are probably wondering why this post is about a mens fragrance but it's my favourite smell (ever.) so I thought I'd share it all with you. I've also noticed through talking to various people that it's actually quite common for women to wear mens fragrance if they like the smell. I was slightly worried about posting this as I realise that it's a bit weird for me to wear something designed for men so I'd love to know if any of you do this...or am I the only one?

It's no secret that I used to be a huge Abercrombie junkie, even when it wasn't that well known in the UK and I think a huge part of that was to do with the smell of the shop (and of course those models!). Fierce is the signature smell of Abercrombie and it's what they put through the air vents to make the shops smell so delicious. The scent contains citrus, musk and comes across as quite woody but I've never smelt anything similar.

What are your favourite fragrances? I love all things fresh and fruity!

Spring Fashion Haul | Primark, H & M, Miss Selfridge

Saturday, 26 April 2014

Hi Ladies! Every season I like to update my wardrobe with a few things to keep my outfits looking fresh, but Spring is really when I buy the most...I love all of the pastel colours and floral prints that are in all of the shop windows, and this year there are so many pretty ones! Most of the items I've bought are mainly for my holiday or nights out, as it's never that warm in England but I thought I'd show you all what I've been buying.

Primark Cami Tops - £4.00 each

Last Summer, I really wanted some of the floaty cami tops that Topshop were selling but despite their beauty, were they really worth £18? I didn't think so, so I waited as I wasn't going on holiday last year. However, this year Primark are selling a selection of floaty cami tops in so many pretty colours for only £4! Unfortunately, they didn't have my size in most of them but I did manage to pick up this really pretty yellow colour which I think will look amazing with a tan and a basic white one as it'll go with everything or some brighter shorts/skirts. I really struggled with the Topshop ones last year as the straps were too long for me and weren't adjustable but the Primark ones are slightly shorter, meaning that they fit perfectly. If you haven't been to Primark recently, you really should as their Spring/Summer collection is just so pretty - I could have spent a fortune in there!

H & M Floral Skirt - £5.99

When I was browsing H & M last week while waiting for a friend, I couldn't help but notice this pretty little skirt. No Spring wardrobe is complete without some floral pieces and at £5.99 this skirt is a complete bargain. It's quite a thin, floaty skirt with buttons down the front which I think would look great with either a white or black cami/tshirt or even with tights and boots in the winter. It sits quite high waisted on me and floats down covering your stomach if that's something you want to hide, like me! I've paired this with a plain white tshirt and my black Chanel bag, however it would also look great with tan accessories which are more summery.

Miss Selfridge Embellished Shorts - £22.00 in the sale

I saw these shorts a while ago on one of the Disney Channel stars when we were interviewing her and fell in love with them, but I had no idea that they were from Miss Selfridge! When I spotted these in the sale they were in my basket before I could even think about it. I had to get a size 14 which is one size bigger than I would usually get as they only had size 14 and 16 left but I'm quite glad I did as they are quite small and I wanted them to sit a bit lower and be a bit looser around my legs so they were comfortable to wear in the sun. I love these for nights out with a black cami, black heels or wedges and a statement pink bag like the one pictured above.

H & M Mint Lace Shorts - £7.99

When I saw these in H & M, I thought they would be perfect for the beach on holiday. They are thin and light weight and fit quite lose so they will be perfect for the hot weather. I also love the colour, mint green is definitely my favourite colour at the moment so I couldn't not buy them. They have lace on the bottom and running up the side which I think is a really pretty little detail.

Accessorize Floral Scarf - £10

When I saw this scarf in Accessorize I fell in love with the colours and the patterns, it's just so pretty! It's a thin, light weight scarf that will be perfect with a white cami and jeans to dress up an outfit and make it a bit different if you didn't want to wear a statement necklace. They also had a mint green one with daisies on which is also so pretty...I think I may also pick that one up next time payday rolls around!

H & M Pink Bag - £14.99

I've been looking for a bright coloured bag for ages now, and when I saw Kayleigh from Couture Girl wearing this one in an Instagram pic, I had to find out where it was from! It's a vibrant fuchsia colour which I think will look amazing with a black dress and really bring a pop of colour to the outfit. It also has a little gold tassel on it to make it that little bit more interesting. You could either use this as a clutch or as a shoulder bag, and it's definitely big enough to fit all of your night out essentials inside.

Primark Nude Pumps - £12

It's no secret that I have a bit of a thing for suede heels, pretty much all the heels I own are suede as I think they look so pretty and girly. I've been looking for a pair of suede nude heels for a while now and as these were only £12, it was a no brainer. They have a leather snakeskin effect on the heel and a little cut out making them look a little different to your standard plain pumps and the platform is the perfect size. These do run true to size as I got a 6 which is my normal size - but I did have to add some heel grips to the back (that you can see in the picture) to ensure that they stay on my feet as I always have issues with strapless heels!

MAC Lipstick in Chatterbox | Review & Swatches

Friday, 25 April 2014

Hi Beauties! I'm back again today with yet another MAC lipstick review for you (I know, it's a bit of an addiction). A while ago now I picked up Chatterbox after reading countless reviews and I'm so pleased I did.

Chatterbox is another of MAC's amplified lipsticks meaning that the colour is really opaque and is great if you want to go for a bold lip. Chatterbox is a warm toned medium pink which is actually brighter than it comes across once it's applied. Chatterbox is a bright lipstick, but not in the same way a red or fuchsia would be. If you want a bold lip without being too neon or obvious then Chatterbox would be perfect for you.

The formula is lovely and creamy meaning that the lipstick glides on effortlessly. I tend to go for Chatterbox on a night out mostly as I love to stick to my pale pinks and nudes for everyday wear, but it's a beautiful lipstick non the less.

However, if your not willing to pay the high price tag for a MAC lipstick, Collection lipstick in Sweet Tart is an excellent dupe for Chatterbox!

Blogging Advice | Getting Organised

Wednesday, 23 April 2014

Photo taken from Weheartit.

Hi Ladies! After the success of my previous blogging advice posts, I thought I would share with you all some of my tips for becoming an organised blogger. I don't think that non-bloggers truly understand the effort and time it takes to maintain a blog alongside a full time job, Uni, School and a social life but there are ways to make it easier, and beat that pesky writers block!

1. Buy a diary.

This may sound simple but it really does help to keep you organised. I find that writing things down helps me to remember them and a diary is a great way of planning which posts you want to post and when, and keeping track of any event invites. I use an A5 Filofax and find that this works really well for me, as it has space to keep any business cards I get given, a notepad for jotting down ideas and space to write down any invites, appointments and my post schedule.

2. Make use of your drafts.

I have tonnes of posts saved in my drafts all with just titles or just pictures, waiting for me when I feel like I know enough about the product to review it. If I get an idea for a post I write it down as a new post then save it to my drafts. This is also useful for when you run out of ideas, as there will always be something in there waiting for you. I also write down any post ideas on the sticky notes app on my computer so I remember to write them and remember to take the pictures for them when I have time.

3. Take pictures in bulk.

I find that taking pictures for blog posts takes so much longer than writing the actual post itself so taking them in bulk is always a good idea. When you have good lighting or an hour spare, take all of the photos for posts you have planned then they will be ready for you whenever your ready to write the post. One thing I do to make sure that I get all of my photos taken, is put everything I want to blog about into a box then on Saturday morning it's all there waiting for me to take pictures of, this also means that I make sure I don't use the product before taking the picture and dirty up the product.

4. Make use of any spare time, like your lunch hour.

I often find that when I come home from work, life just gets in the way. After I've done everything that I need to do, it's about time to get to sleep and ready for the next day so making use of any spare time like your lunch hour or waiting for a train, etc is a great idea to keep on top of your blog. If you've got a smartphone I'd really recommend downloading the Blogger app. It's not brilliant but it will let you draft out a post, so then you can go and edit it later on when your at home.

5. Give yourself a break.

Lastly, it's really important to give yourself a break every now and then. For me, blogging is a hobby and something that I enjoy so I like to give myself a break or a weekend off every now and then, so that it doesn't become a chore or too stressful. It's so easy to get caught up in a posting schedule and worry that if you miss a weekend then it will all crumble, but nobody is going to hate you for taking time off, everyone needs it once in a while.

MAC Lipstick in Lovelorn | Review & Swatches

Monday, 21 April 2014

Hi Ladies! I hope you've all had an amazing Easter weekend and aren't too sad about going back to work tomorrow! Today I thought I would talk about my all time favourite MAC lipstick. I never thought that something would replace Creme Cup as my favourite MAC lipstick, but Lovelorn is just  too beautiful to ignore.

Lovelorn is a lustre finish which is more of a glossy creamy formula, it's great if you have drier lips as it doesn't pick up on any dry patches and just glides on effortlessly. Lovelorn is a medium blue pink and is just such a pretty colour. If your looking for a true pink colour then I'd really recommend you pick up Lovelorn. It's also great if you've got pale skin like me as it doesn't come off as too bright and has just enough colour.

What are your favourite MAC lipsticks? I have enough to take my empties back to mac now so I'd love to know what you think I should pick up!

La Mer 'The Hand Treatment' | Review

Saturday, 19 April 2014

Hi Ladies! I hope you've all had an amazing long weekend in the sun and aren't in some sort of chocolate coma after all the mini eggs you've eaten like me! Today I thought I would let you all know about an amazing hand cream which I've recently discovered. Hands are often forgotten when people think about skincare, but they really are important and are often the first signs of ageing, so I'm now trying my best to look after my hands so I don't regret it in a couple of years time!

My Mum has loved this hand cream for years now and I can really see why. The Creme de la Mer Hand Treatment contains their Miracle Broth which helps to protect and hydrate even the driest skin and it really does work. After using this hand cream my hands felt soft and nourished and the results were visible after the first treatment.

The La Mer Hand Treatment has a non greasy formula which soaks in quickly so there's no waiting around with sticky hands and it instantly leaves your hands feeling so smooth, and as an added bonus it also gets to work on your cuticles. I usually put this cream on before bed and when I wake up my hands still feel nourished the next day.

This cream is very expensive at £70 a pop but in my opinion it really is worth it's high price tag as you only need a little each time you use it.

MAC Lipstick in Girl About Town | Review & Swatches

mac girl about town lipstick

mac girl about town lipstick swatch

Hi Beauties! Back at the end of last year, my parents kindly bought me a few MAC lipsticks back from their trip to New York and I've just realised that I never did a full review of each one. Now that I've had a couple of months to properly test them, I thought it was about time I showed you all of them!

Girl About Town is possibly one of the brightest lipsticks I own and I often look past it in favour of a nude lipstick, but recently I've been really loving it and think it suits Spring make up so well. Girl About town is a beautiful blue tones fuchsia shade which is great as it really helps your teeth to appear gleaming white. It comes off as a deep raspberry colour which is just so pretty for this time of year.

Girl About Town is an amplified creme lipstick which means that it has a lovely creamy formula, but it really does pack a punch colour wise. As this is such a bright lipstick and I usually shy away from brights, I just pat a little of this on my lips then spread it across so it has more of a sheer finish, or just mix it with a little lip balm, but it's just as beautiful if you go for the full on fuchsia look.

Have you tried Girl About Town? What are your favourite MAC lipsticks? I'm always looking for recommendations!

Spring Lips

Wednesday, 16 April 2014

Hi Ladies! This week I had the chance to guest post on Corrie's blog (Dizzy Brunette) and I thought that I would also pop the post up on here in case any of you missed it. Now that the shops are filled with pretty pastels and florals, and the sun has finally decided to show it's face, I thought it would be a nice idea to share with you some of my favourite lip colours for Spring.

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Golden Pink - If your into your pink and nude lipsticks like I am, then this one will be right up your street. Golden Pink is a pretty light pink colour with a hint of coral, making it perfect for this time of year. I love to wear this with a peach blusher and light neutral eyes for a day look.

Tarte Amazonian Butter Lipstick in Soft Coral - I love wearing coral lipsticks throughout spring and summer and this one from Tarte is perfect. It's a lovely muted coral colour which isn't too orange, so it's perfect for me as there's no way I can pull off the orange lip trend! Tarte is also now available in the UK through QVC and at £20 for three, you can pick up these lipsticks for drugstore prices - bargain!

MAC Sunny Seoul - For me, this lipstick is the perfect cross between a pink and a coral colour, making it great for spring/summer. I'm a pink lipstick girl at heart so I never tend to stray too far from a pink lip, meaning that this shade is perfect for me as I can still work the coral trend while still sticking in my comfort zone with the pink tones in the lipstick. This is a cremesheen finish so it's ultra creamy and moisturising which I love.

MAC Girl About Town - Admittedly, I've only worn this lipstick a few times, but that's not because I don't like the colour (it's seriously beautiful), but because I'm too much of a chicken to rock a bright lip. However, on a night out this would be perfect. This looks great with some winged eyeliner and lots of lashes if you keep your face colour simple. It's also an amplified creme finish so this little bullet really does pack a punch of colour, I tend to only dab a little bit of this on as I find thats enough for me, but you could definitely create a statement lip with this colour.

Beautiful Movements Lipgloss in Gypsy Spirit - I thought I'd also include some lipglosses in this round up incase your more of a gloss girl, and this one would be perfect for spring. Gypsy Spirit is a neutral coral colour which is super pigmented and creamy, so it's perfect to just wear on its own if you didn't want to fuss around with lipstick.

E.L.F Mineral Lipgloss in Wild - Wild is another pink/coral colour and is quite similar to the Sunny Seoul lipstick that I've just mentioned. It's a really pretty coral pink with a very subtle golden shimmer running through it. This lipgloss goes on quite sheer so it would be perfect if you didn't want to wear too much colour, or to layer over a pink or coral lipstick.

The Balm Lipgloss in Girl Next Door - This is hands down one of the best lipglosses I've ever used. It's not sticky at all and applies so well, I really can't reccomend it enough - and it smells like banoffee! Girl Next Door is a medium pink colour which is really similar to MAC Speed Dial Lipstick, it's edging towards being a bright lipgloss which makes it perfect for this time of the year too.

As you can tell, I'm really loving the pinks and corals this Spring, and I think they go really well with some of the Spring fashions which have started popping up in stores! I hope you liked this post and comment below if you'd like to see more posts like this!

Festival Makeup with E.L.F Cosmetics | FOTD

Tuesday, 15 April 2014

Hi Ladies! I hope your all having a brilliant week and are loving this sunshine we've been having! I've taken this week off work to chill out at home and I don't think I could have picked a better week with this beautiful weather we've been having! A little while ago Elf Cosmetics asked me if I would like to take part in their Festival Make Up Challenge and after spending the weekend being insanely jealous of everyone at Coachella, now seemed like a good time to show you all what I've created. I've tried to do this as a step by step tutorial instead of a regular FOTD which is why the post is a bit long, but please let me know if you prefer this way of doing it or if you think I should go back to my regular FOTD posts!

Step 1: The Base

Festivals require long lasting make up which will take you from day to night without melting away in the heat (or lack of it in the UK) so to start off, prime your face and apply your favourite long lasting foundation. I then applied the Elf Tone Correcting concealer under my eyes, over any spots, and also down my nose and forehead to highlight. I then blended this in using the Real Techniques expert face brush to ensure it looked natural.

Step 2: Cheeks

I really wanted to warm up and brighten my cheeks for this make up look so I used the Elf Baked Blusher in the shade in Rich Rose which is a slighty shimmery bronze colour with a marbled rose effect running through it. It creates a subtle warm bronze and really makes your cheeks pop. Next, I applied the Elf All Over Colour Stick in Persimmon to the tops of my cheeks to highlight them a little. This little stick is an excellent dupe for the Nars Multiples and is a very close colour match to the Benefit High Beam.

Step 3: Eyeshadow

As this is a festival make up look, I wanted to go for something bright on my eyes, but still wearable so I chose bright purple. I think purple is a really wearable alternative if you want a bright look and are a bit scared of having neon eyes! To create this eye look I used the purple shades from the Elf Little Black Book - Cool Edition palette. The palette is full of all kinds of crazy bright colours, so if your heading to a festival this summer it may be worth a look. To start off with I applied a medium purple colour all over my lid then went in and applied a darker violet colour through my crease to create dimension. I also took some of the medium purple colour and applied it under my eyes to really make the colour stand out.

Step 4: Mascara and Liner

The trick here is to go for waterproof liner and mascara, the heat, and all the dancing your doing will really take it's toll on your eye make up if you just use a regular mascara and liner. For this look I used the Elf Liquid Eyeliner in black as i find liquid liners stay put a lot better compared to pencil. I only lined my upper eye as this suits me better but if you want to go ahead and do your bottom lashes then that's great too. I then applied lashings of the Elf Waterproof Mascara (it comes in a duo with regular as well) to lengthen my lashes and make then stand out a bit more. I decided to skip false lashes here because I imagine they could be a bit of a nightmare at a festival but if your partial to your fake lashes then they would look great with this look.

Step 5: Lips

To finish off the look, I used the Elf Super Glossy Lip Shine in the shade Watermelon. The great thing about this gloss (apart from the pigmentation - which is great) is that it contains SPF 15. I always forget about my lips and burn them when I'm outside and if your going to be outside at a festival all day- SPF is a must!

The Finished Look:

I hope you liked this tutorial and if your going to a festival this summer I'd love to see which make up looks you create for the occasion!
