Benefit Cosmetics | The Ultimate Starter Kit

Friday, 15 August 2014

Hello Beauties! I was recently given the opportunity to guest post on the lovely Liza's blog, Glam Beautys, and I thought I would share the post with you all just incase you missed it!

When I was first getting in to make up, or even now when I'm discovering new brands and trying them for the first time, I found it quite daunting going up to the high end make up counters as I just didn't know what to buy to start me off with the brand. So, today I thought I would share with you a little Benefit Cosmetics starter kit that I've put together if your looking to try out more from the brand.

Face

Firstly, I would start off with the 'How To Look The Best At Everything' kit. It comes complete with everything you need to get your base make up perfect, ready for adding some colour in later. Benefit describe this kit to be the perfect kit for achieving a luminous complexion, blending away imperfections and minimising the appearance of pores, and I would have to agree. This kit contains some of my all time favourite Benefit products and has everything you need for the perfect base. In the kit you receive a mini size of the Porefessional (a Benefit favourite of mine) to prime your skin, a mini size of their Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation, two shades of the Boing concealer which is perfect as it allows you to use the darker shade on spots and the lighter shade under your eyes. You also receive the Hello Flawless Powder to compliment your foundation and a little brush to apply it but I lost mine (oops!).

Colour

Now that you have the perfect base, you can start adding your colour. Benefit offer a variety of these kits based around their famous Boxed Blushers, but I chose Sugarbomb as I didn't already own the blusher and Benefit describe it as 'a deliciously nude lip and cheek kit' which is right up my street. The kit contains the famous Benetint which you can either use on your lips or cheeks instead of the Sugarbomb blush and lipgloss, High beam which is perfect for highlighting, Sugarbomb blusher and a brush and the Sugarbomb lipgloss to complete the look. I love this kit as you can create a couple of different blush and lip looks all from one kit, so its perfect for starting off.

Eyes

For eyes I've managed to whittle it down to just two products, which was not easy let me tell you! Benefit have plenty of amazing eye products and kits on offer, but as this is a starter kit and I've gone for a neutral theme (it's the most universal and easiest to pull off) I thought I would stick with that for the eyes. For the shadow and liner I've chosen Benefit's 'Big, Beautiful Eyes' eye contour kit. It doesn't look like much in the photo, but when you apply it, its the most gorgeous neutral eye for the day. The kit comes with Boing concealer which you can either use under your eye, or on your lid as a primer, a pink shadow for all over your eye, a beautiful brown shadow for your crease and a very dark brown for your liner. This creates a truly stunning daytime look and really opens up your eyes, I'd recommend this to anyone.

To finish off your eye look, I would then use the Benefit They're Real! mascara, as personally I find this mascara to be the best of Benefits mascara offerings. They're Real! is the perfect mascara for lengthening and curling your lashes, and it will stay in place all day. This mascara will also help to open up your eyes, making them the centre point of your make up look.

Brows

Now this wouldn't be a Benefit starter kit without at least one brow product. Benefit are the company when it comes to brows and they have plenty on offer depending on how you like to fill in your brows. After trying a couple of their brow products, I personally find BrowZings to be the easiest to use and to give the best effect on my sparse brows. The kit comes with a tinted wax to help shape your brows and keep them in place, and a powder to also help fill out your brows and give them a more natural appearance. The kit also comes with all of the brushes you need for your brows, and some mini tweezers.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post, and a massive thank you to Liza for letting me post here on Glam Beautys.

Lots of Love,

Becky x x
