Make Up Forever HD Foundation | Review

Monday, 11 August 2014

Hello Lovelies! I hope your all having a fab week and aren't too bummed about it being Monday! This weekend I had a family BBQ to celebrate my 21st Birthday and I had a lovely time catching up with some family I hadn't seen in a while and eating wayy to many hotdogs! If you've seen my Miami  Beauty Haul, then you'll know that while I was in America last month, I managed to take several trips to Sephora and the first thing on my wish list was the very much talked about, Make Up Forever HD Foundation.

The Make Up Forever Foundation claims to have 'invisible coverage' and blur any imperfections. It's also oil-free which is a plus for me as I have quite oily skin, so adding oil never usually ends well. I would say that the foundation has medium buildable coverage, so it covers a lot of my scars and blemishes, but theres still a few pesky ones that peek though, however, you could definitely build it up if you wanted to. The texture is very liquid-y (is that even a word?!) and a little definitely goes a long way. Two small pumps of this will cover my face and will be enough to blend the foundation down my neck, and I find either a buffing brush or the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush works best to achieve a flawless finish.

I also really like the lasting power of this foundation. I can easily wear this foundation for a couple of hours before I need to touch up, which is brilliant for me. I really struggle to find foundations that last well on my skin, even matte foundations, and usually find myself blotting my t-zone after about two hours. I would say that this foundation has a satin finish as it is a little dewey, although I have heard people with dry skin complain that it clung to their dry patches.

What I really love about this foundation is the 'invisible coverage' element. I always struggle to find foundations that blend seamlessly into my skin, and am forever struggling with the tide mark issue - but I never get that with this foundation. I use the shade N115 and it's the perfect match for my skin, it blends in seamlessly and covers everything it needs to without looking caked on or heavy. It also photographs brilliantly. If you have an event coming up such as graduation, a wedding, etc and you know you will be being photographed, I'd definitely opt for this foundation as it blurs any imperfections on camera (I'm guessing thats the HD element).

This is quite an expensive foundation though, which I know puts a lot of people off. I paid $42 for this in the US which was slightly cheaper than Nars Sheer Glow (thats how I justified it to myself), and I have to say, it was money well spent. I love this foundation and it's now sitting in my storage alongside my other holy grail foundations. I'd really recommend this to anyone, however I think I will have to keep this as my special occasions foundation (does anyone else do that?!) as it's so hard to get hold of in the UK!

Lots of Love,

Becky x x

  14. This foundation has been on my wishlist for the longest time, but I too have heard that it can tend to cling to dryer patches on the face which is why I have been a little hesitant to purchase it. It looks beautiful on you though!
