Miami Haulin' | Beauty Bits

Thursday, 7 August 2014

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and have been enjoying the blissful weather that I hear we've been having in the UK! If you follow me on any form of social media, then you'll know that for the past two weeks, I've been off sunning myself in Miami for my 21st Birthday. Of course, a trip to America wouldn't be complete without (several) trips to the various beauty shopping destinations they have on offer. I was so shocked to see just how much more make up they have available to them compared to us across the pond. I'd known I was going on this trip for about a year, which gave me plenty of time to save up for all of the make up I wanted to buy, so here's what I picked up!

First off I headed to Sephora, as I knew there were several things I wanted to pick up, and I was so overwhelmed by the selection of brands on offer! Some of them I'd never even heard off and I could see that it was going to be very easy for me to get carried away while I was there and just pick things up for the sake of it, so I decided to stick to my list and avoid any impulse purchases. Firstly I headed to the Nars counter as I knew that I wanted to pick up the Sheer Glow Foundation. I know that we can get Nars in England but it's cheaper in the US, and my shade (Mont Blanc) had been sold out for months in the UK. While I was at the Nars counter I also picked up the Laguna Bronzer as I'd heard so many amazing things about it, and the Turkish Delight Lipgloss as I think it's such a pretty colour and is apparently one of Kim K's favourites.

Next, I headed over to the Make Up Forever counter where I was matched to N115 in their HD Foundation. I've wanted this foundation for months now after seeing it on several beauty blogs, so I knew it was going to eventually end up in my basket. I also then headed over to the Anastasia Beverley Hills counter to see which brow product would be best for me. As I like to fill in my brows with light natural strokes, I decided that the Brow Wiz would be best for me instead of the Dip Brow Pomade, so into my basket it went. I also paid a visit to the Tarte stand as we can only get this from QVC in the UK and I hate not being able to see the shades before buying. I already own one of their Amazonian Clay Blushers and I love it, so I decided to pick it up in Captivating which is a pretty warm peach colour.

While I was in Sephora I also picked up the Too Faced Milk Chocolate Bronzer as the bronzing palette I wanted was sold out, and I'd heard that this bronzer was perfect for fair complexions like mine. I also decided to have a little browse of the Sephora own brand products, and decided to pick up one of their blushers in Icy Fuchsia as it was a lovely pink colour. There were so many pretty looking Sephora brand products and I loved the look of their bronzers, however as I already had two in my basket, I thought three would be a little excessive. I also picked up two of their brushes - the crease brush and the airbrush brush as they were so lovely and soft.

When I got to the till in Sephora, the lovely lady who served me signed me up to one of their Beauty Insider cards which I can use whenever I'm in North America. Because I had signed up to the card I was given a free little navy eyeliner which I have to say is really amazing, and I was given a travel size of the Nars Orgasm Lipgloss, and as it was my birthday in a couple of days, she also gave me a Make Up Forever Travel Lipgloss and Mascara Kit - why don't we get these kind of perks in England?!

Of course, no trip to America would be complete without a browse of their drugstores. While I was in Wallgreens/CVS/Walmart and Target I decided to pick up a few bits from Physicians Formula as I had heard a lot about the brand. I went for their Nude Wear light bronzer mainly due to its beautiful packaging, and because it looked like it would be a good match for my skin tone. I also picked up their Warm Neutrals Palette as it only contains shimmery shades, which are the only ones that I really use.  While I was there I also picked up a few nail polishes as brands such as Sally Hansen, OPI and Pixi were so cheap over there. I also had a little browse of their haircare isles and deiced on picking up the Not Your Mothers Clean Freak Dry Shampoo. I'd only bought a little travel size of the Label M dry shampoo with me which I went through in a couple of days, so I decided to try this brand as we don't have it in England. While I was at the till I saw that they were selling EOS lip balms for only $2 so I just had to pick one up at that price!

While I was in America I also picked up some of the Bath & Body Works Hand Santizers as I love all of their gorgeous smells, and they were only 5 for $5. As you can probably tell, I was loving the beachy theme when I picked them! I also picked up my trusty MAC Studio Fix Powder as the one I'd bought with me from Boots just wasn't cutting it in the heat over there. Lastly, I picked up the Sun Bum SPF 70 spray. I picked this up in a local beach shop on the harbour, so I'm not sure how widely available it is, but if you get burnt easily like me, you need this for your holidays. It was a little bit more expensive than regular brands, but it was definitely worth it as it stopped me from getting burnt while I was out on the boat.

Now, I promise that's it for beauty products! I went a little overboard while I was in the states as there's just so much we can't get back here in the UK, and I will be popping up some reviews of these products when I've had the chance to fully test them all out, so keep your eyes peeled for them! I will also be posting a fashion and random purchases haul this week, so make sure that you check that out if your interested in everything else that I bought while I was over there!

Lots of Love,

Becky x x

  20. Eeeek one of my favourite parts of going to the states last year was the make up shopping!! They just have SO much that we don't have, and even the stuff we do have is so much cheaper there. I went a little bit mascara crazy whilst I was there because they're so much cheaper. I remember stepping into Sephora and being like HONEY I'M HOME. Definitely my personal happy place!!
