FOTD: Subtle Cranberry

Tuesday, 16 September 2014

Hello Beauties! Now that we're properly into September, I feel like I can properly start experimenting with Autumn make up looks as I've finally gotten over the fact that Summer is over. Last Winter there was a lot of hype surrounding the MAC Cranberry Eyeshadow, and like the sucker I am I caved and bought it, knowing full well that I would hardly ever use it. And I was right, I don't think I used it at all last year because I was pretty terrified of the colour, why I decided to buy it I will never know. Anyway, seeing as I spent like £10 on one eyeshadow colour, I decided that this year I had to get some use out of it and create some make up looks. So, I thought I would share one with you today. It's a really subtle look, which is exactly how I intend on using the eyeshadow - subtly. Also, lets just excuse my brows in these pictures, they were feeling a little bit wild when I took them.

To start off with, I applied the Trish McEvoy Eye Base Primer all over my eyelids, this just helps to keep your eyeshadow in place all day and as I have quite hooded eyes, primer is a must. Next I applied Woodwinked by MAC all over my lids as a base colour (the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze is a great drugstore alternative) and then used a fluffy brush to apply Cranberry by MAC through my crease and outer corners. I also took Cranberry along my lower lash line, just in the corners. To give the look a little more dimension and because I just can't resist a bit of shimmer, I applied Half Baked by Urban Decay down the centre of my lid. I finished the look off by lining my eyes with an angled brush and Creep eyeshadow by Urban Decay, but any black eyeshadow will do.

It really was that easy to create this subtle Autumn look, and I think it's one I will be getting a lot of wear out of when it comes to the colder months. If you'd like to see more make up looks and FOTD posts, then please let me know in the comments below as I can't tell if you find them boring or not!

Lots of Love,

Becky x x

  3. I love Cranberry, such a beautiful shade. I've got a NYX dupe, called Rust. It's pretty good but would still like to get cranberry at some point. Your brows look beautiful, as does the makeup! I know how you feel about FOTD's, I've done a few recently and not sure what people think of them really.
