The Bathroy Custom Bath Salts | Review

Saturday, 20 September 2014

Hello Beauties! I'm sure I'm not the only one when I say there's nothing I love more than a good bath. A bath always makes me feel better and instantly more relaxed, and I love having a bit of a pamper evening, usually on a Sunday to get me ready for the new week. I have a whole shelf in my bathroom cupboard dedicated to bath products and shower gels, etc, and the latest addition to my collection is this beauty from The Bathroy*.

The Bathroy is an American company which has recently come over to the UK, which allows you to create your own custom bath salts from a long list of ingredients. Firstly, you choose which kind of bath you want from three options. I went for the 'Soothe' option which contains Oatmeal and Honey because I usually have a bath to relax and take a load off, and because the description reminded me of the TIGI Oatmeal and Honey Shampoo which I love the smell of.

You then choose three essential oils to add to the mix from a varied list. The website also tells you what the oil will do, as in it will say 'The Uplifting One' and so on, so you can choose your oils based on what kind of bath you want. I chose Lemon, Grapefruit and Sandalwood as I love fruity scents and thought that the Sandalwood would balance it out.

The bath salts come in a beautiful black jar which can be re-used once you've done with the bath salts, which I think is a great idea. I'm always recycling glass jars to store make up items and cotton wool pads, but I think I'll use this one as a pen pot. It also comes with instructions on how much to use in your bath depending on whether you want a quick soak or the best bath or your life, or somewhere in-between. I attempted to go somewhere in-between, but being me, I accidentally poured about 75% of the bottle into one bath, oops. The salts dissolved instantly which I liked, there's nothing worse than the bottom of your bath being all gritty! The smell was also quite strong, but nothing like I expected. The oatmeal was the main scent and I couldn't really smell any of the fruity smells I'd picked which I was a bit disappointed about as I love fruity smelling bath and shower products.

The Bathroy Bath Salts retail for £18 which in the grand scheme of things isn't that expensive when you compare it to brands such as Elemis, however the bottle won't last you long at all, if you only put the 25% they recommend for a quick soak in you can still only get 4 uses from the bottle, making it a quite expensive bath. I don't think I would repurchase this for myself due to the price and the fact that the smells I had chosen didn't come through, but I think this would make a great gift for a friend, or maybe a get well gift.

Lots of Love,
