The Body Shop Seaweed Cleanser | Review

Thursday, 18 September 2014

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and have had a great weekend! Today I thought I would share a product with you that's really been helping my oily skin out over the past couple of weeks. Having oily skin is such a nightmare, I can never get make up to stay on my skin, no matter how much primer I use or how long they claim to stay matte for, and my skin is too sensitive for a lot of skincare targeted at oily skin. So when The Body Shop asked if I would like to try their Seaweed Deep Cleansing Facial Wash* I jumped at the chance, hoping that it would be the answer to my oily skin prayers.

First off, I'll start with the packaging. I'm a sucker for packaging when it comes to make up, but with skincare I usually prefer things to be a bit more plain and simple. I usually stay away from skincare with tonnes of ingredients and add ons as I find it doesn't work well for my skin, and usually results in break outs and somehow for me, that also translates to the packaging (silly, I know). The Seaweed Cleanser comes in a clear tube with a simple blue label, which I like as it lets you easily see how much is left.

The cleanser has a gel like consistency which laters up when massaged onto wet skin, which I really like. Having oily skin, I hate cleansing balms and milky cleansers because they just don't feel like they are really deep cleaning my skin and getting rid of all the excess oil, so I was pleased with the consistency of this cleanser. It also doesn't have a strong, perfumed smell which is another plus for me, as strongly perfumed skincare usually doesn't react well with my sensitive skin. Like most products from the Body Shop, it contains natural ingredients which is something I now look for in all of my skincare, as I find it less drying and irritating to my skin.

But did it help my oiliness? The answer is definitely yes. This cleanser gives a really deep clean which rid my skin of all the excess oils and really did make my skin feel refreshed. If you have combination skin, I would stay away from this cleanser though. It can be quite drying, which for someone who has very oily skin is a good thing, but I think on slightly less oily skin it may be too much and dry your skin out a little.

Lots of Love,

  1. I love the smell of seaweed products! So fresh and lovely :) I might give this a go as my skin is oily/sensitive, so it's great to hear it didn't irritate you - I always worry about that with products targeting oiliness.
