2015 New Years Resolutions | Beauty & Lifestyle Picks

Thursday, 1 January 2015

Hello Beauties & Happy New Year! I honestly can't believe that it's 2015 already, 2014 was a great year but it seemed to fly by, it seems like just yesterday I was planning my New Years Resolutions for 2014 - most of which I didn't stick to, but the less said about that the better. I always like to start off the new year with some resolutions to help guide me through the new year and make sure that it's the best year yet. 2015 is a bit of an uncertain year for me if I'm honest. In the Summer I will hopefully be graduating after 4 long years of University, and I currently don't have a graduate scheme or job lined up which does make me slightly anxious for the future, however I've decided not to dwell on that for the time being, as I still have about 6 months to change this.

My main resolution for 2015 is to say 'yes' more. For years now I've let my nerves, worries and general confidence stop me from doing the things I want - attending events, meeting new people, speaking up about things which matter to me - and it's something I really want to change. 2014 brought me many new experiences which I am incredibly grateful for, but I can't help but think that it would have been very different if I'd stopped making excuses and just said 'yes' to more things.

I also really want to work on my body image and weight in 2015. Towards the end of 2014, I put on a lot of weight and its gotten to the point where the way I see myself is stopping me from living my life the way I want to. The way I look is stopping me from meeting new people, wearing certain clothes and is generally making me miserable, to the point where I really work myself up trying to find an outfit on an everyday basis because I feel like everything makes me look fat or ugly. Ideally, I'd really like to get back to the weight I was before, so this year I am making it a resolution to make sure I stick to going to the gym more and making better choices when it comes to what I eat. I am an incredibly fussy eater so I know I will find this difficult, so to start off with I am going to cut back on my snacking or choose healthier snacks and hopefully this year I will get back to feeling like myself again and be generally happier in my own skin.

Another resolution for 2015 is to be more careful about what I spend my money on beauty-wise. 2014 was my first full year of blogging and I found that in order to keep the reviews coming, I was buying a lot of make up which I'd use a couple of times and then completely forget about, or just buying products to create a make up look for a post and this really needs to stop. As I mentioned, I will be an unemployed graduate come summertime, so being wise with my money now will really help me out later in the year. I will still be buying beauty products, I don't think I could stop myself, however I will definitely be doing more research into the products I buy and only buying colours which I know I will wear and get a lot of use out of.

My last resolution is also beauty related, in 2015 I'm hoping to have a big clear out of my beauty stash. I have way too much for one person, anyone who's been to my house or seen my make up bag will know that. I'm such a make up hoarder and most of it goes un-used or un-loved, so hopefully I will be able to cut the ties and either pass on the products to my friends and family or possibly pop them in a blog sale later this month.

What are your New Years Resolutions?

Lots of Love,

Becky x x

  5. Good luck with your goals Becky! I understand how you feel about your weight - a year ago I moved in with my Boyfriend and his family, and they've been feeding me up ever since! 2 stones later, I'm feeling a little miserable - hopefully I'll feel a bit happier in myself in 2015!

  6. I could completely relate to what you said in this post - i was in your position last year, preparing for my final 6 months of university. I tried so hard not to worry but there's no doubt it can be such a stressful time and I felt exactly the same way. I'm sure you'll do absolutely fine and i wish you the best of luck with it - people don't understand how worrying it is for graduates these days! I felt completely lost but i can promise you now - things have a way of working themselves out. Also totally with you on the worrying less/saying yes more thing - it's something i need to really work on.

Wish you all the best for 2015 lovely! Hope you have a happy and successful one xx

    1. Thank you Beth! It's so scary to think about it all and I really hope you're right when you say it will all pan out! I know, it seems like most people think that we don't really do much while were at Uni, but the reality is lots of sleepless nights worrying and huge amounts of work! I hope you have an amazing year and good luck with your new job on Monday - I'm sure you'll be amazing! xx

  9. Several of these are goals for me as well! I'm also graduating this May, so I completely understand the whole not having a plan lined up for after graduation. It's nice to know other people are in the same boat, but I wish you the best and good luck with all of these! Hope we both find jobs! :)

  10. Good luck with all your resolutions! I didn't put having a clear out on my list, but it's something I really need to get done. I'm terrible for hoarding things too "just in case" I need to use it! xx
