Benefit Porefessional Agent Zero Shine Powder | Review

Sunday, 8 February 2015

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and looking forward to Valentines Day! I'm a single pringle so I don't really have any special plans for Valentines Day, like most years, but I'm not too bothered about this as I have plenty going on at the moment to keep me busy and my mind off it! Anyway, I was recently asked by Benefit Cosmetics if I would take part in the POREfessional Spy Gal campaign by acting as one of their 'Secret Agents' and they kindly sent me a Secret Agent Starter Kit which contained a couple of their POREfessional products, one of them being the Agent Zero Shine Powder - and far be it from me to receive make up and not review it, so thats what I'm going to do today.

When I first saw this product come out last year I was a little skeptical to say the least. From my experience, Benefit products tend to favour dry skinned girls over us oily types, so I didn't really think it would be that great at controlling my pretty much uncontrollable shine. However, I was pleasantly surprised, teaching me once again to not judge a book by its cover, or brand name in this case.

Firstly, lets talk about the packaging. Benefit Cosmetics always manage to do something cute and innovative with their packaging, and the POREfessional Agent Zero Shine Powder is no different. Instead of the usual wide pots of loose powder, the POREfessional Agent Zero Shine Powder comes in a long and thin pot with a built in brush, which I think is so handy for touch ups on the go. What I really like about this packaging is that it has the option to close the opening, unlike most loose powders, to prevent powder coming out when your not using it. The packaging is also super cute with the little Secret Agent design and the pastel colours, it really does look pretty and stands out in my make up bag.

But does the product actually work? I'd have to say that yes, it really does. The product appears to be a light peach coloured powder, however when applied it is completely transparent on my skin. I'm not sure if it will leave a white cast over darker skin tones, but for myself it worked fine. The main aspect of this product is that it reduces shine and I can happily say that it does. I have very oily skin which usually get shiny straight away and needs constant powder touch ups throughout the day, however when I first applied this powder it instantly mattified my skin without making it look flat. However, I'd say that if you've got dry skin that you should probably stay away from this powder. It is quite drying and while my oily skin is thankful for the drying properties, dry skin may not be so thankful.

The powder is also supposed to help conceal pores and has optical blurring properties. I have very large pores so anything that promises to reduce the appearance of them is a winner in my books. I wasn't too sure if this was just a bit of a gimmick but I was pleasantly surprised to find that this powder did help to conceal my large pores. I have been using this in conjunction with the POREfessional primer however I found that the powder added a little more pore blurring power to the combination.

Overall, I really like this powder. I found that I needed less touch ups and the skin blurring properties are really a winner in my books. If you've got oily skin or suffer with shiny skin then I'd really recommend this powder, however if your skin is more on the drier side, then I'd opt for one of their other powders which are more suited to dry skin.

Lots of Love,

Becky x x
