Smoky Grey Eyes with MAC Cosmetics

Sunday, 22 February 2015

The smokey eye is a look I haven't quite mastered yet, as a girl who usually opts for a neutral look or a lilac/purple look if I'm feeling adventurous, I tend to stay away from dark colours out of fear mainly - silly I know! However, on a recent shopping trip to MAC the kind sales assistant helping me with my foundation choices had the prettiest eyes and I just had to find out what she had used to create them. I was told that to recreate the look I would need one of the Pro-Longwear Paint Pots and one of the Mineralize eyshadows.

Her eye make up was almost black with pretty blue sparkles, but as I knew I would never wear black I changed up the look slightly and went for grey. I opted for a Pro Longwear Paint Pot in 'Dangerous Curvée' which is a gorgeous shimmery gunmetal grey colour. I love the Pro Longwear Paint Pots and think that they are worth the money for their longevity alone, however if you're a budget beauty lover, the e.l.f Smudge Pots are pretty great too, and they do an amazing dupe for this colour. As for the Mineralize Eyeshadow, I went for 'Cinderella' (not part of the upcoming Cinderella collection - confusing, I know!). Cinderella is a grey shadow with the sparkliest silver glitter running through it and goes perfectly with Dangerous Curvée when patted lightly on top. If you're a lover of glittery eyeshadows like myself, then you need to take a look at the Mineralize eyeshadows by MAC they have a large range of single, duo and quad eyeshadows and I now have about 5 on my wish list after a quick browse at the counter - seriously stunning.

You'll have to excuse the poor application of my eyeshadow in the picture above, like I said, smoky eyes aren't usually my thing and I haven't quite mastered the whole blending out of dark colours yet. Nevertheless, I wanted to show you the products actually on my eyes to give you the full effect. As you can see, both products are extremely pigmented and create quite a strong look when put together. This may scare some of you away (it did me at first!) however, I think that this look would be perfect for a night out, paired with a nude lip, if you really wanted to amp up your eyes. Now I just need a night out as an excuse to wear this look!

Lots of Love,

  6. This looks beautiful on you! I'm far too scared to even attempt a smoky eye look as my application skills are rubbish and I can just about manage a very natural look with a tiny bit of darker shadow in the outer corner x

  9. Yet again your pictures are gorgeous :) The Mineralize Eyeshadow looks beautiful, I don’t think I would dare use it in case it spoilt how pretty is looks in the pan.

  11. This is such a gorgeous look! I can't believe I stumbled upon this post when, just last week, I was talking to a friend who had picked up 2 of the Dangerous Curvee paint pots on separate shopping trips & I offered to buy one from her! I NEEDS to check out the Mineralized eyeshadows now, particularly 'Cinderella'! Great post! Tania Xx
