Valentines Nail Art with Just My Look

Thursday, 12 February 2015

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and looking forward to Valentines Day, whatever you have planned. Today I've joined up with Just My Look, who sell discounted beauty products and pretty much every nail polish you could ever want, to bring you some Valentines Inspired Nail Art. Now, I'd just like to point out before I crack on with the designs, that I am in no way a nail technician or nail artist - In fact I'm pretty rubbish when it comes to anything nail related. That being said, I gave it my best shot and have come up with three different designs.

This first nail art look is probably my favourite out of the three, but it also took me the longest. I wanted to go with the grey and pale pink theme but I also wanted to test out a couple of designs, so I've gone for something different on each nail. All you need to create all of these looks is a roll of masking tape and a cocktail stick which are all things which can be found around the house. First, I painted all of my nails with OPI I Theodore You to get the pale pink base. To create the glittery design on the thump, I just used a cocktail stick to flick some of OPI Cement The Deal across my nail, then used another cocktail stick to flick some of Sally Hansen Big Money in the gaps. I got this idea from back when I used to get nail art put on my acrylics and it's super easy to do.

To create the stripes, I just cut some pieces of masking tape, placed them where I wanted the stripes to go and then painted OPI Cement The Deal across my whole nail and waited for it to try before removing the masking tape. To create the dots on the next finger and my little finger I just used a cocktail stick and dotted them all over my nail. To create the heart, which is my favourite design, I used a cocktail stick to dot two grey circles on my nails, then used the same cocktail stick to drag the dots together which then creates a heart shape. This is actually a lot harder than it looks though, and it took me about three attempts so patience is key!

This second look is the easiest from the three, and definitely the one for you if, like me, you're terrible at nail things. To create this look, I firstly painted all of my nails with OPI Euroso Euro which is a beautiful navy colour. Then to make the flower designs, I just used some nail stickers which I picked up from Superdrug for around £2 and stuck them in the corners - easy peasy! I love this idea as it literally takes seconds but it looks like you've spent way more time on your nails. You can also use whatever colour you want underneath, I'm currently wearing this look with OPI I Theadore You from the first design.

For the third and final look I attempted to do the whole ombre nails thing, and as you can see by the photos, I pretty much failed miserably. However, that's not to say that you won't do a better job than me - I'm just not great at doing these kinds of things! To create this look I painted the colours that I wanted for an ombre effect onto a sponge (after looking at hundreds of tutorials on Pintrest!) and just pressed the sponge onto my nails, finished it off with a top coat and voila! The colours I used were OPI I Theadore You, OPI Thats Hot Pink and OPI Koala Berry.

What do you think of these designs? If you try any of them out for yourself, please tag me or send me a photo as I'd love to see what you create!

Lots of Love,

Becky x x
