Blogging On A Budget | 10 Blog Post Ideas

Thursday, 19 March 2015

Hello Beauties! I've previously done blog posts over here on Lipgloss & Lashes all about how to blog whilst on a budget, and since they went down so well I thought I would revisit the subject and share a couple of 'budget' blog post ideas with you all. I'm a huge believer in the fact that you don't have to be loaded to be a successful blogger, as it's more about content than owning the whole of MAC's latest limited edition collection. As I'm coming to the end of my University life and about to venture into the world of job hunting (the joys!), I need to remember this now more than ever, and since I'm going to be saving up over the next few months, expect to see a couple of the following posts appearing on here too!

1. Most Loved Makeup

I love reading posts like this as it really shows what the blogger loves and gets the most use out of, as oppose to pristine products trailed for a matter of days and then forgotten about. These types of posts could be broken down into a million different categories, such as, most loved MAC products or any other brand, most loved drugstore products, you could break it down by budget/time of year/special occasion...the list is endless!

2. Seasonal Makeup Picks

Makeup trends change dramatically from season to season, and it would be really interesting to see how you're changing up your everyday makeup products and what you're loving for for Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

3. Personal Posts

Whenever I ask my readers what they'd like to see more of on Lipgloss & Lashes, personal posts are always top of the list. It doesn't cost anything to tell your readers a little bit about yourself, who you are, what motivates you, an experience you've been though...

4. Personal Style Posts

This is another one which my readers always comment they’d like to see more off, and admittedly the only reason I haven’t done it is because I don’t really have anywhere to take the posts, and I don’t have someone to take them. But if you do have these things, or feel comfortable with a tripod then this is a great way for you to post without spending money. Show us some of your favourite outfits or pieces which you own!

5. Whats In My Bag?

Everyone loves a good whats in my bag post, and I'm sure most of us use a handbag, so why not delve inside and show us all what you're carrying around with you. This post can also be split up into so many ideas...make up bag, everyday handbag, travel bag, clutch...

6. A Day In The Life Of...

Why not take your camera out with you one day and get snapping, take photos of things which you’ve done throughout the day and put them together in a ‘day in the life of…’ style post, I think this is a good alternative to a vlog if you’re not into videoing yourself!

7. Recipes!

If you make a mean brownie, then why not show your readers and share your tips! Bloggers seem to love a bit of baking, and the best part about these kinds of posts? You get to eat the cakes afterwards!

8. Room Tours

I love a bit of interior design and room tours are one of my favourite videos to watch on YouTube, but there's no reason why this can't be transformed into a blog post. Show your readers how you store and organise things, some cute homeware bits you've got in your room, etc.

9. Blogging and Photography Tips

My blogging and photography tips posts always go down a storm and it's something you can do for absolutely nothing. By no means do you have to give away all your secrets, but sharing how you set up your photos or some tips for newbies is always a good idea.

10. Shopping Your Stash

This is definitely something I need to do more of. I'm sure like me, you've got some old favourites lurking in your make up collection which need a little love, so why not dig them out and find out why you loved them so much the first time round! I see no problem with re-doing old review posts, if you have something new to add!

Got any other budget friendly post ideas? Why not share them in the comments below - sharing is caring!

Lots of Love,

Becky x x

  1. Love these ideas so much! I think I might do a 'shop my stash' and 'seasonal makeup' post soon - I'm trying to do a project pan at the moment but it makes it so difficult to find new post ideas. Thank you! xx

  2. I'm saving for a rather big beauty purchase so I've definitely been limiting my spending! What's in my bag, favourites and shopping my stashes are my favourite things to post at the moment as you get to show products you've maybe not talked about before without having to splash out xx

  3. Love all your ideas! It's very easy to get caught up in the idea that you always need to be posting about the newest, greatest product (which I'm definitely guilty of), so this list is perfect for weeks like this one where I wanna blog without spending a fortune to do so. Definitely might be doing a most loved post soon now, sounds like fun!

  8. These are the kinds of posts I tend to lean towards when I'm on a spending ban. It takes some thinking and some creativity, but you really can think of countless posts with what you already own.

  13. I love doing tags, especially answering questions and giving others questions too and seeing their answers. I think they would be great if you're out of ideas for blog posts or on a budget.

  16. I loved the tips!! Whenever I don't know what to blog about, I feel like writing a personal post, but then I don't, because I'm always under the impression that nobody wants to read something long and personal. I always think people want "easy to read" posts, full of pictures and such ???? I don't know why, haha.

    Your blog is lovely! :)
