Make Up Revolution 'Naked Chocolate' Palette | Review & Swatches

Sunday, 1 March 2015

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well, and happy first of March! I honestly can't believe how quickly this year is flying by, and I feel like I haven't accomplished anything yet! At the moment I'm getting stuck into doing my research for my Dissertation (thank you to anyone who completed the survey I tweeted about!) but I managed to find a few spare moments to have a play around with the Naked Chocolate Palette by Make Up Revolution which has been sitting in my collection since it was released (bad blogger alert!).

If you've read my blog for a while now, then you'll know I'm a big fan of neutral palettes, and the Naked Palette by Urban Decay and the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette are two of my favourite make up items in my collection, so I was excited to hear that Make Up Revolution had combined the two to come up with the 'Naked Chocolate' Palette.

Firstly I'll start with the packaging. If you've seen any of the other Make Up Revolution Chocolate Palettes, then you'll be familiar with the packaging, as this palette is essentially just the white chocolate version of the same packaging. I'm a big fan of pretty packaging, and honestly, this just doesn't do it for me. I think the packaging looks quite tacky if I'm being brutally honest, it's also quite chunky and comes with one of those completely useless foam applicators. However, I am aware that this eyeshadow palette is a complete bargain, so you can't have everything and the packaging is a small compromise to make when you compare it to the actual contents of the palette.

As soon as I cracked open this palette, I knew I would love it, it's pretty much made for me. The palette contains a mixture of shimmers and mattes, with two larger 'highlighting' shades and a mixture of beautiful neutrals. I'm more of a shimmer girl myself, so I was pleased to see some absolutely beautiful shimmers in there. There are also some amazing dupes for shades from both the UD and Too Faced palette such as 'Double Dip' which is a dead ringer for 'Half Baked' from the Naked palette, and 'Mocha Lover' which is an amazing dupe for 'Sidecar' from the UD palette. I think the only shade this palette is missing is a black shade, as I like to use black eyeshadow to line my eyes, however it does contain some darker brown shades which work really well for lining your eyes for a softer daytime look. I also found that the two lighter taupe shades (Tob-Le-Rone and Milky) took a little more building up than the other colours to get the same colour pay off, but apart from that I can't fault this palette. Each of the shades are extremely pigmented, soft and creamy and blend out like a dream, and I think the swatches speak for themselves:

(L-R: Smoothly, Adorable, Double Dip)
(L-R: Tob-Le-Rone, Buttons, White)
(L-R: Frosted Choc, Divine, Mocha Lover)
(L-R: Delight, Milky, Dipped)
(L-R: Sweet-Shop, Way, Suger, Choc-Fest)

Overall, this palette is a neutral lovers dream and definitely one I think everyone should have in their collection. Each shade is wearable and there aren't any colours in there that I won't use at some point. The 'Naked Chocolate' palette retails for £7.99 for 16 gorgeous shades (absolute bargain!) and is available from the Make Up Revolution Website or from selected Superdrug stores.

Lots of Love,

Becky x x

  8. This looks like such a lovely palette, beautiful colours! Although I do agree that the chocolate packaging does look a little tacky, but for £7.99 who can complain?! And your first photo doesn't show it in a tacky light whatsoever x

  10. I have this as well, and was really impressed. I did find the shimmers a tad chalky, but I do love the shades!
