The Best Drugstore Lipgloss? | Essence XXXL Nude Lipgloss in 'Shy Beauty'

Tuesday, 7 April 2015

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and rested after the long weekend, no matter how depressing it was getting up for work this morning! If you're a lipgloss gal like myself, then you may want to pay attention to todays post. For years now I've been on the hunt for the perfect lipgloss, I even came close a few times (theBalm's Balm Shelter glosses are amazing but the colour range is so limited!), but I think I've finally found a lipgloss that ticks all of the boxes and its a complete drugstore bargain.

Admittedly, I'm a bit of a makeup snob, there's nothing more I love than a bit of a splurge on the likes of MAC, Nars and YSL, so when Essence sent me a collection of their products to try, I was a little dubious to say the least. However, I've been pleasantly surprised with some of their products, with the real show-stopper being their XXXL Nude Lipgloss in 'Shy Beauty'. Shy Beauty is a lovely pale pink colour which goes extremely well with MAC's Cremecup Lipstick and other pinky nudes, in fact I'd say that this lipgloss is a dead ringer for the cult classic, Turkish Delight Lipgloss by Nars (a favourite of Kim Kardashians, need I say more?).

Aside from the colour being lovely, the formula was what really won me over with this product. Finding a non sticky lipgloss is like finding a needle in a haystack, so when you do eventually stumble across one it's like you've struck gold, and thats exactly how I feel about this lipgloss. The gloss glides on smoothly without ruining the lipstick underneath, it's completely non-sticky and it's surprisingly long lasting. Well, as long lasting as a lipgloss can be. It comes with a doe foot applicator which is slightly softer than your regular doefoot applicator which is something I really like about the product as it feels a lot nicer to apply than some of the higher end glosses I've tried.

Overall, I'm head over heels for this gloss and I've been wearing it on a daily basis for the past couple of weeks, which is pretty unheard of for me. This particular gloss is from the 'nude' collection, which is a collection of about 4 or 5 glosses all in gorgeous nude colours which are perfect for everyday wear, next time I'm near a Wilko I'm definitely going to pick up all of the colours that take my fancy - at only £2.80 it would be rude not to!

What are your favourite lipgloss brands?

Lots of Love,

Becky x x

  8. I am a bit of makeup snob too, but then considering I barely wear lip glosses it would be much better to not spend as much on something like this, and then splash out on a lipstick!

    1. I agree, I never splash out on bright or red lipsticks as I know I'll never wear them but when it's something I know I'll love, I don't mind being a bit of a snob haha xx
