Burts Bee's Lip Crayons Review

Wednesday, 6 May 2015

Hello Beauties! Lip crayons hit the beauty scene a couple of years ago, and I think it's fair to say that everyone went a little crazy for them. So much so, that now pretty much every brand going has their own collection...Clinique, No7, Revlon, GOSH, and Boujois...and the newest brand to be added to this extensive list id Burt's Bees. I've been a big fan of Burt's Bees for a couple of years now (their cuticle cream is a life saver!), however I've never really tested out any of their makeup line, and seeing as I love their lip balms, their lip crayons seemed like the perfect place to start.

I never really got sucked into the whole lip crayon thing until now. I found them to be a little bit of a fad to be honest, but I've actually really been enjoying these crayons and love the colour and finish they give. These lip crayons have a matte finish, yet they also have a creamy formula - something which I struggle to find with matte products. I don't have particularly dry or chapped lips, but sometimes matte products can leave them feeling a little tight and uncomfortable, so I tend to stay away from them. However, I've been loving these lip crayons as although they are matte, they're also fairly hydrating. They contain Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil to hydrate your lips while you're wearing the product, almost like a cross between a balm and a lipstick (but with more pigmentation), which is something I've really been loving about these lip crayons.

The range contains 6 shades in total, ranging from nudes and light pinks to red and berry shades, so there should be something for everyone there. The shades I picked out were the three lighter shades from the range: Sedona Sands (a pinky nude colour), Carolina Coast (a light blue toned pink) and Hawaiian Smoulder (a hot pink). I have to say that Carolina Coast is my favourite, probably because it's like the matte version of Lovelorn by MAC which I'm sure you've all heard me bang on about time and time again!

These crayons cost £8.99 which I think is a great price in terms of the quality you get from the product. I'll definitely be adding a few more to my collection!

Lots of Love,

Becky x x

    1. The staying power is actually fairly good compared to regular lipsticks, I think because they're matte. Once the initial colour rubs off they do leave a slight stain behind too which is nice as you don't have to reapply as often! xx

    1. The wear-time was surprisingly good actually. I think because they're matte they last a lot longer than some of the more glossy crayons were. They also left behind a little stain so there was no need to top them up straight away! xx
