Changes

Friday, 29 May 2015

So, it's been about a week and a half since I decided to take a little break from blogging, and while that may not seem like a lot to some people, it seems like an absolute age to me - and what a week it's been. This week I finished my last exam ever and in doing so finished my degree, something I've been working towards for the past 4 years. Honestly, I'm just a little bit proud of myself for completing it, especially as I never thought I would make it to the end...essays and presentations were enough to make me run for the hills, let alone a dissertation. But I did it, and I made it out the other side, much wiser for it....even if I count being 'wiser' as now being able to use the washing machine without turning all my whites pink and managing to go 4 whole years without setting fire to the kitchen. I've also had a couple of trips down to London (more on that later) and spent some quality time catching up with friends I'd drifted away from, which was so lovely, and honestly, I just didn't have time to blog with all of that going on.

I always knew my break wouldn't be forever, and would only really last a week or two, as I knew I wasn't ready to give it all up but a little step back was very much needed and well deserved. My time off also gave me the opportunity to reflect on my blog and where I want it to go in the future, and from that I'd like to make a few changes to the way things are done around here.

Firstly, I'd really like to include more face swatches in my posts. It's something I'd always wanted to do, as personally I find them very helpful when reading a review of a product, but have always put off doing as it takes so much longer to get photos taken for posts, and the stress of trying to get a good photo of my face is almost too much (my wonky eye is such a pain in photos). However, I have decided to push myself to include more of them in my posts, and as I'm pretty much a full time blogger at the moment as I'm not going in to work straight away, I should have a bit more time to put the effort in to include these photos.

I'd also like to put a bit more effort in to vary my posts a bit more. I'd like to include a few more 'lifestyle' posts as I really enjoy reading these, and as I have a little bit more time to actually do things to post about, instead of sitting in bed writing essays, I think now would be a good time to include some more. I've found that I got into the habit of posting review after review, and while I know that's useful for people wanting to research a product before buying it, I couldn't help but feel that my blog was getting a bit dull.

Lastly, I'd also like to make more of an effort to improve my photography. I really enjoy photography, and when it turns out well, it's my favourite part of blogging, so I'd ideally like to dedicate a little bit of time to improving this, as I think my photos were getting a bit same-y. Now, this may mean that it takes me longer to get up a post, just while I'm getting used to working with new set ups, etc so instead of pushing myself to post 5 times a week, I'm going to aim for three instead - that's still hopefully enough new content for you all to feast your eyes upon, but it means I won't be stressing myself out so much trying to get it all done on top of everything else I've got going on, and will hopefully make for better content when it is published.

Hopefully all of these changes will make my little blog a little more interesting and helpful for you, but if you have any suggestions at all then please leave them below!

Lots of Love,

Becky x x
