Birchbox June 2015

Thursday, 4 June 2015

Hello Beauties! I know this is such a blogger cliché but seriously, where has this year gone?! It seems like just yesterday that we were ringing in the new year and excitedly looking forward to what 2015 held for us...and now were half way through the year! Another month means another Birchbox and this month Birchbox have teamed up with the luxury shoe brand, French Sole. This month Birchbox users were allowed to choose the design of their box (and accompanying shoe bag) which I think is a really nice touch, as I always like to keep the boxes for makeup storage, and the prettier boxes definitely look nicer in my draws. Anyway, on to the all important contents of the box...

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle | £14 (sample size)

Beauty Protector are a brand which I've tried through my Birchbox subscription previously, and I actually really liked the hair mask I received a couple of months ago so I was happy to receive this in my box. The Protect & Detangle is a leave in conditioner spray which claims to minimise frizz, detangle and add shine to the hair, definitely something I'm in great need of - anyone with thick, curly hair will understand! It's a fairly small sample however I think I'll get about two or three uses out of this before it runs out, and it will be perfect for any travelling I end up doing over the coming months.

REN Instant Firming Beauty Shot | £36 (sample size)

REN is a brand which I really love, their skincare is simple yet effective and my skin seems to love it, so I was really happy to receive a sample of one of their products. The sample is the same size as the ones you get when you order from their site so I thought I'd get about 2-3 uses from it, however when I tried to squeeze the product out, it was pretty empty. In fact, there wasn't even enough for one full application of the product, which was really disappointing.

Pixi By Petra Shea Lip Balm in Ripe Raspberry | £8 (full size)

This was another disappointing product for me, not because I hate the product, but because I already own one which I received in a Birchbox a couple of months ago in exactly the same shade - I guess that's a problem you're always going to have with a subscription box which sends different samples to different subscribers though. However, if I hadn't received this previously in another box, I'd be pretty chuffed with it, as it's a full size product and definitely something that a lot of people would get some use out of - you can never have too many tinted lip balms in my opinion!

Cowshed Body Lotion in 'Knackered Cow' | £20 (sample size)

The biggest product in this month's box is the Cowshed Body Lotion in 'Knackered Cow'. Cowshed isn't a brand I've tried before so I was happy to receive this in my box and it's definitely something I can put to good use. The sample size was also quite generous (it's more than you'd get in a travel size) so I think a lot of people would be happy to have received this.

Penhaligon's Iris Prima Perfume | £85 (sample size)

This was, yet again, another disappointing product for me. I hate receiving perfume samples in beauty subscription boxes, mainly because if you go to any department store they will give you a sample if you're interested in trying the perfume, which defeats the point of paying for the subscription box in my opinion. I actually didn't really like the scent either as I found it a little mature for my tastes, so this really wasn't a winner with me.

STYLondon Temporary Tattoos | £7.99 (full size)

This month's box also included a little beauty extra in the form of the SKYLondon Metallic Temporary Tattoos. I've seen these everywhere at the moment and I love the look of them, so I was happy to receive them in this months box. I think these would be great if you're going on holiday or to a festival too.

Birchbox X French Sole Shoe Bag | Lifestyle Extra

As this month's box was in collaboration with French Sole, the lifestyle extra was this super pretty shoe bag perfect for slipping your ballet flats in to if you're travelling or if you just carry a pair with you on the go (I always do when wearing heels!). The pattern of the shoe bag goes with the pattern of the box which you choose - a really nice touch in my opinion.

What did you think of this month's box?

Lots of Love,

Becky x x

  3. Theres some nice products in there! Would love to try the COWSHED body lotion xoxo

  4. I quite like the selection in this months box - especially the temporary tattoos. I've had a couple of the products in my Birchbox's in the past as well though. I feel like they keep reusing the same brands/products lately.

  5. My box will probably come tomorrow, but I've chose the same design. It's so pretty isn't it? Disappointed that the same product is in from a previous box from the early days, but apart from that, it looks really good. Not tried anything from Pixi before so looking forward to using that x

  6. It is definitely hard to believe how quickly time is passing! So strange. This box looks fab. Especially the Pixi balm!
