Simple Everyday Makeup

Sunday, 21 June 2015

Although I love to play around with makeup and create new looks, my everyday makeup usually stays pretty much the same - I may change up the brands and types of foundations, etc that I use, but it's basically the same products day in, day out. As my everyday makeup comprises some of my most loved pieces, I thought it would be a nice idea to share these with you.

Face

My acne has left me with a lot of scars and redness, so naturally this leads me to opt for a more full coverage base. At the moment, I'm using the Bobbi Brown Longwear Foundation as it's great for my oily skin and covers everything I need it to without completely masking my skin. I like to apply this with a beauty blender as, over the summer, I prefer a lighter feeling base which the beauty blender helps me to achieve, without taking away any of my beloved coverage. I try to use as little concealer as possible, again to avoid the 'caked on feeling', however I did use a little of the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer under my eyes to hide those pesky dark circles and brighten the whole area up. To finish the base I used a light dusting of the Bobbi Brown Skin Weightless Powder Foundation (which was sold to me as a setting powder, annoying) to set everything in place and avoid makeup meltdown.  This isn't my favourite powder, mainly as I found out that it was actually a foundation after the sales assistant had put my money through the till, but as I spent a whopping £33 on it, I kind of have to use it up.

Cheeks

As it's now summer and the sun is starting to show his shy little face here in the UK, bronzer is a must for me. I don't really use it to contour strictly, but I use it on the areas that would naturally tan (if I ever got a tan) to warm my face up and create a slightly more sun kissed look. On my cheeks, I still can't step away from the pink blusher and my usual weapon of choice is Pink Swoon by MAC. It looks pretty frightening in the pan, but when applied it creates the prettiest pink flush and generally adds a bit of life to my face. To finish off my cheeks and add a little bit of a summery glow to my skin, I've also been lightly dusting a little of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Beige across the tops of my cheek bones.

Eyes

To fill in my brows I've been using the Anastasia Beverley Hills Brow Wiz in Soft Brown lately, or if you're looking for a drugstore option, the Soap & Glory Brow Archery (the one without the felt tip) is an amazing dupe if they have a shade for you.

For eyeshadow, I'm quite boring on an everyday basis, either opting for a neutral eye or a lilac eye as I find these shades compliment my eye colour (I have murky green eyes - although they regularly change colour). Today I've opted for my trusty old friend, the original Naked palette from Urban Decay. In my crease I've used Sidecar which is my all time favourite eyeshadow and then over the lid I've used Half Baked to create a metallic golden look. I've also been using a dark brown eyeshadow instead of the more traditional black eyeliner to create a softer more 'everyday appropriate' look.

Then to finish off the eye look I normally just apply a couple of coats of the Clinique High Impact Mascara, however in the photo I am wearing Benefit Rollerlash as I wanted to test it out, unfortunately it just wasn't for me as I found it quite drying on my eyes.

Lips

I don't normally go overboard on my lip product choices and either just wear a lipstick (usually Lovelorn by MAC) or a lipgloss (usually Girl Next Door by theBalm). In the photo I'd opted for Lovelorn by MAC, and I usually just use one light layer of this to achieve a more natural look.

What do you think of this look?

Lots of Love,
