Tanning Favourites From Cocoa Brown Tan

Wednesday, 1 July 2015

I'm sure it comes as no surprise to most of you that I'm a big lover of Cocoa Brown Tan, as I've never made it much of a secret here on Lipgloss & Lashes. Now, I'm not someone who tans a lot (I'm for too lazy for that), but I do like to give myself a bit of a faux glow for nights out, special occasions and sometimes during the summer when the weather is a bit nicer...and being the lazy person that I am, 1 hour tans are perfect for me. I have a couple in my stash, some way better than others, but I always seem to return back to my trusty Cocoa Brown tan. I've been using the original 1 hour tan for about a year now and I love it. It's quick, easy and it eliminates the whole tan stained sheets situation - a complete lifesaver for someone with white sheets. However, I do find that I normally need about two layers of the tan to achieve the colour I'm looking for, after all, if I'm going to go through the hassle of fake tanning I want to be noticeably darker. So when Cocoa Brown informed me that they had recently released a dark shade of my favourite tan, I couldn't wait to try it.

The Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan Mousse in Dark has everything I love so much about the original except just a little bit darker. The main reason I always return to Cocoa Brown tan is due to the natural tan it leaves you with. Too many times I've decided to try out a new tan only to end up looking like a chubby wotsit, so now I find it's just safer to stick to what I know. One layer of the Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan in Dark is more than enough, any more than one layer and you'll look like you're trying to chance race...trust me, I made this mistake the first time I used it. But if you do the sensible thing and stick to one layer, then you'll be left beautifully bronzed, without a hint of orange. The tan also smells quite fresh and floral, instead of your usual baked/biscuit smell which I think is great, because there's nothing I hate more than smelling like a digestive.

Although the tan is marketed as a 1 hour tan, and you can use it as that, I like to leave mine on for about 3 hours to make sure that the tan has properly developed, and avoid washing off the majority of my hard work blending the tan into my skin, as I find that 1 hour will only leave you with a very light tan, even with the darker shade.

Another product I've been trying from the Cocoa Brown tanning range is their Gentle Bronze Tanning Moisturiser. One thing I hate is applying body creams, so the fact that I can double my tanning and moisturising up in one easy step definitely appeals to me, as I'm all for anything that saves time. This tan comes with the same scent and natural colour that the whole Cocoa Brown tanning range has, however this is definitely a light tan. I found that to get any real colour from this I had to apply it twice daily for about a week, and even then it was fairly light...so it may be perfect for those of you who are a little scared of fake tanning. However, I've actually been using this to extend the life of the 1 hour tan and keep my legs bronzed for longer as the slight colour payoff coupled with the moisturising elements really help to increase the longevity of your tan.

Apart from the wonderful tanning elements of this moisturiser, I actually really liked it as an actual moisturiser. It was thick enough to hydrate my skin, but not so thick that it sat on top of my skin and actually sank in super quickly which meant I could pop my pjs on and jump straight into bed without the sheets sticking to me....something I always look for in a moisturiser.

Overall, I would really recommend Cocoa Brown if you're looking to get bronzed this summer. Everything I've tried from the range has not only been exceptional, but also super affordable. Cocoa Brown Tan is also available in Primark, Tesco, Superdrug and online at Feel Unique (who are also having a 50% off sale on Cocoa Brown) making it really easy to pick up, which is always a plus.

Lots of Love,

Becky x x
