Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer Review

Monday, 17 August 2015

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and your Mondays haven't been too terrible! I had quite a busy weekend so it's fair to say I'm more than a little tired today, but it's nothing a pamper evening and an early night can't sort out! Anyway, a few weeks ago I was picking out some beauty products to send to my friend Alyson in the States, and one of the things she really wanted to try was the Lasting Perfection Concealer by Collection (formerly Collection 2000). I was also in desperate need of a new concealer as Id spent the last few weeks scraping every last drop out of about 5 different concealers, so while I was picking one up for Alyson, I also picked one up for myself, and it occurred to me that whilst I have used this particular concealer before, I've never actually reviewed it here on my blog.

The last time I used the Collection concealer I absolutely hated it, it was way too orange, cakey and generally just didn't work for me, as I also have a problem with concealer creasing under my eyes. However, since my last fling with the Collection concealer they've changed the packaging and I think they tweaked the formula slightly, so I thought I'd give it another go.

I picked mine up in the shade number 1, which is the lightest in the range, and I have to say, I'm really impressed with how light the range is for a drugstore brand. I often struggle to find makeup that is pale enough for me on a budget, so it's really refreshing to see a high street brand catering for us pale ladies. In fact, shade 1 is probably a little too light for me. It works well under my eyes as the lightness of it really brightens the whole area, however I think if I were to use it to conceal spots and the like, I'd probably have to go a shade darker as to not highlight the spots.

Now on to the formula, which unfortunately isn't my favourite. While the formula had improved since the last time I tried it, I still found it to be quite drying, particularly around my eye area. My eyes do get dry fairly easily though, so you might not have quite the same experience as I do with this concealer, however if you have dry eyes, I'd probably give this one a miss. As for it's 16 hour claims, I'm not sure it stands up to 16 hours of wear, but it certainly is long lasting. I found that when I used this, my dark circles were still well hidden by the end of the day, so if you're looking to make your makeup last, I'd definitely recommend this.

Overall, I'm still left quite underwhelmed by the concealer, despite all of the hype it gets. I much prefer the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer as I find the slightly more creamy formulas work better around my eye area, but if you're looking for something budget friendly then I'd say give this one a go, as it's under £5 so fits in with most people's budgets.

Lots of Love,

Becky xo

  1. I wasn't much of a fan either but I did want to try it and this shade was too light for me. I might do the same and buy it again in another color to see if it will sway my opinion about it.

  4. One day this concealer works wonders for me and the next it's the worst thing I have ever used. One thing it is good for is highlighting, because like you said Collections shade range does go quite light.

  6. I love this concealer, but only for covering spots. It's way to dry for anywhere else!

  9. Aww such as shame. I'd always really wanted to get it as I heard lots of rave about it but since I'm in Australia, never knew where to find it. I guess I'm not that eager anymore. Thanks for your honesty.

  10. Yeyyy, this concealer is my all time favourite, I go through so many of these which is good as they are so cheap! I myself a really pale person find it hard to find a really good concealer which actually highlights my under eye area, however this one works amazingly! :)
    Loved the blog post!

  12. I hear you. It is quite drying, but try using it for contouring/highlighting. It works wonders for me and blends well :)

  13. It's funny reading this today as I've just popped my Collection concealer into the empties bag as I have the same view as you. Being 'a little' older and with dry eyes it just doesn't work for me. Whist it would apply nicely I'd look in the mirror later and find it cakey.

I love Maybellines Fit Me Concealer - have you tried that?

  14. I'm yet to try the Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer but I am actually quite a big fan of the collection one. I don't however use it under my eyes but just on my face. xoxo
