Partylite Haloween Candles Giveaway

Wednesday, 30 September 2015

Hello Beauties, I hope you're all having a great week! With tomorrow marking the first day of October, it's definitely time to start thinking about Haloween - although this year, the shops seemed to have skipped haloween and gone straight to Christmas (I actually saw Christmas jumpers in Primark today!). I have no big plans for haloween this year, so I will probably just stay home and watch a scary movie snuggled up on the sofa, which to tell the truth, is starting to sound a lot more appealing than going out drinking and dancing now I've reached the grand old age of 22!

Seeing as I'll be staying in this year, it only seems fair that I decorate my house slightly with some Haloween themed items, so I don't completely miss out on the festivities, which is where Party Lite come in. You may remember that I posted about Party Lite a couple of months ago when I was fortunate enough to try out some of their summer candles (here), and I ended up loving them so much that I just had to try out their Haloween collection.

Party Lite's Haloween 2015 collection is inspired by Mexico's 'Day of the Dead' or 'Día de los Muertos', which you can see throughout the collection with the beautiful skeleton designs and bright colours - perfect for the Haloween season. Along with sending me the collection to test out for myself, Party Lite have also given me the chance to give away the whole Haloween collection to one lucky winner - that's 19 candles, plus some candle accessories!

All of the candles have either the 'Hocus Pocus' or 'Autumn Glow' scent which both smell sweet and spicy to me, with Hocus Pocus being the sweeter of the two. I think these candles will be perfect for Haloween and will go nicely with any Haloween decorations you're already planning on putting up.

Ghost Girl Fragrance Review

Tuesday, 29 September 2015

Hello Beauties, I hope you're all well! I finally feel like I've managed to get my blogging mojo back this week after spending a couple of weeks feeling really down about my blog and in particular my photography. It's so easy in the blogging world to compare yourself to those around you which has really been getting me down recently and making it extremely hard for me to find the passion to blog. However, enough is enough and it's time for me to stop comparing myself and get back to blogging regularly, just like I used to! Today I thought I would review the new 'Ghost Girl' fragrance as I've been hearing a lot of buzz surrounding it for a few weeks now.

I'm pretty sure most of you will have heard of Ghost fragrances, they were all the rage when I was in my early teens and seemed to be the 'it' scent for most of the girls in my school. Well, Ghost are back with a new fragrance and seem to be switching up their image slightly. When I think of Ghost I always picture the simple yet elegant bottles, and remember the scent from back in the day, however the new fragrance is slightly more edgy and 'young'. With notes of pomegranate, pear and orange blossom, blended with notes of musky amber and cedar-wood, this fragrance is slightly more feisty and entirely different to your classic Ghost fragrances, making it perfect for the younger age group.

Also, with Charlotte Free as the face of the campaign, it definitely speaks to the younger age bracket (which I am unfortunately growing out of - sob). Charlotte Free is not only beautiful, but she's also a great role model for young girls as she promotes being true to yourself and expressing your unique identity. Charlotte Free and Ghost Girl are a match made in heaven, as she really represents everything the new fragrance stands for - individuality, originality, and playfulness.

As I've mentioned, this fragrance is definitely targeted more to those of us who are 25 and under I'd say, judging by their marketing, bottle design and the actual fragrance as it leans a little on the sweeter side, but it is nevertheless a beautiful fragrance and one which I will definitely be using throughout the colder months due to it's musky scent.

Lots of Love,

Claudia Louch Mint Exfoliating Facial Polish

Monday, 28 September 2015

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and had a lovely weekend. I spend this weekend just catching up on all of the little errands I had to run and then scheduled in some 'me time' as it's been the longest time since I sat down and had a little pamper! Now that I work full time and spend most weekends visiting friends, I've found that I've been spending a lot more time wearing makeup as I have something on my skin most days now, which has really taken it's toll on my skin. I've noticed that I've been suffering with more breakouts and that my skin has generally been looking a little lack lustre (probably from all the early starts!). With that in mind, I've been making a conscious effort to look after my skin a little better and invest in a good skincare routine, starting with exfoliation. Lord knows I'm an exfoliation junkie - I love the smooth feeling of my skin after exfoliating and the idea that I'm clearing out all of the junk in my pores after a long day at work.

My recent weapon of choice has been the Mint Exfoliating Facial Polish by Claudia Louch, and I've been noticing some real differences in my skin. This product is brand new to the Claudia Louch line and is derived from sugar, to give you a mild deep cleanse - exactly what I look for from my exfoliators. I have quite sensitive skin, so I wouldn't want to use anything too harsh on my skin, but I still like to know that my exfoliator is well, exfoliating. The product contains a whole host of natural ingredients and plant extracts such as apricot oils, lemon, apple, aloe vera, green tea, sugar cane, seaweed and many more, making it brilliant for your skin.

Since I've started using this instead of my normal budget exfoliator, I've noticed that my skin has been a lot clearer, brighter and my skin tone has been more even. I've tried a lot of exfoliators in my time (mainly because most of them cause an allergic reaction) and this is by far the best exfoliator I've used. It is extremely pricey at a whopping £59 but as I'm getting older, I'm starting to realise the benefits of a great skincare routine. If you have sensitive skin but still want to feeling of a deep, exfoliating clean then I'd highly recommend this. The mint is extremely cooling and refreshing, but the apricot oils and aloe vera ensure that your skin is left feeling soft and calm, which is exactly what I look for in an exfoliator.

Overall, I'm extremely impressed with this product and will definitely be looking to buy more from the Clauda Louch range as hopefully, all of her products will have the same outstanding results!

Lots of Love,

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation

Wednesday, 23 September 2015

Hello Beauties, I hope you're all well! After recently trying the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and being more than a little disappointed, I went on the hunt for my next 'everyday' foundation, which lead me to the new Magic Foundation by Charlotte Tilbury.

This is my first item that I've purchased from Charlotte Tilbury, and I have to say, the service I received at the counter was pretty sub-par. I understand that it gets busy in London on Saturdays, but I went to both Selfridges and Fenwicks and on both occasions, the staff just didn't seem that interested in helping me or trying to colour match me. That aside, I'm pretty impressed with this foundation, and if you love Nars Sheer Glow, then you'll definitely love this.

Apparently this foundation has been in the making for five years, as it kept getting sent back to the lab until Charlotte was completely happy with the formula. Needless to say, this left me with high hopes for the foundation. Charlotte wanted to add a full coverage foundation to her line, that would cover any acne, redness, scarring, discolouration, etc as well as smooth out wrinkles and give the appearance of more 'awake' skin. As someone who suffers with both acne, redness and discolouration - this sounded perfect for me.

I went with shade 2 which matches my skin perfectly. It's slightly yellow toned which cancels out any dark circles, redness and discolouration and is definitely pale enough for my ghostly complexion. I also found that this foundation dried the same colour as it applied and there was no oxidisation during the course of the day. To say that I love the finish of this foundation would be an understatement. The foundation dries to a matte finish without looking chalky or cakey, which was exactly what I was looking for from my foundation, and the finish also lasts quite a while. I found that the foundation stayed matte for a couple of hours on my oily skin which is something most products struggle with. However, once the oil had started to seep though, my skin quickly became very oily. This wasn't a massive problem for me as I could easily just blot this away with some tissue paper without removing any of the actual foundation, but something to be aware of if you know you're not going to get the chance to touch up.

As for the coverage this foundation provides, this is another big win for me. I like my foundations to have a medium to full coverage without feeling heavy on my skin (easier said than done) and this foundation does exactly that. It manages to conceal any dark circles, acne scarring and breakouts without looking like a mask, almost as if I'm just having a great skin day.

Overally, I adore this foundation. It's not perfect and definitely has its flaws, however the finish and coverage is just unbeatable and I can definitely see this becoming a holy grail foundation for me.

Lots of Love,

Becky xo

Lush Cosmetics 'The Comforter' Bubble Bar

Monday, 21 September 2015

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and had a lovely weekend! I know I say this more often than not now, but I'm so sorry I haven't been posting on here as much as I used to. I had a crazy busy week at work last week and just didn't get a spare minute to sit down and blog. There's just so much going on in my life right now which has meant that my blog has unfortunately had to take a back seat. Hopefully I will be able to get back into a more settled 'blogging routine' soon, but in the meantime I will just be posting as and when I can! Anyway, it's been an age since I last posted anything Lush related (considering I pop in most weekends for a browse!) so today I thought I would share with you one of my all time favourites - the comforter.

I'm sure by now you will have all heard of the comforter bubble bar, as it's one of their most popular - and with good reason. As you can see from the photos, the comforter comes in a bright berry pink and white marble design, and actually turns your bath pink, which to me is one of the selling points. I love it when bath bombs or bubble bars make the water change colour, it definitely makes spending up to £4 on one bath so much more worth it in my opinion.

The comforter contains the warm aroma of cassis absolute to relax you, and blackcurrant absolute to give the bubble bar its famous berry sweet smell. Lush say that they wanted to create a bath that gave the same sense of safety and calm that your favourite teddy, your comfort blanket or a snuggly scarf gives, which I think is just so sweet. The scent is like blackcurrant candy and really is very comforting (as the name would suggest!), I love to use this on a cold winter night as it really does warm your soul - hence why I've stocked up in time for the colder months!

The comforter costs around £4.25, which may seem steep compared to their normal bath bombs, however you do get more product and it can be broken up into around 4-6 pieces (depending on how many bubbles you want), to create a couple of bubble baths. Plus, I don't really mind paying the higher price for Lush products, as they really do feel like a treat when you use them.

Which are your favourite Lush products?

NYX 'Love in Paris' Palette

Thursday, 17 September 2015

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and looking forward to the weekend - I know I am! This week has been crazy busy for me at work, but I have my bestie coming down tomorrow night which I'm so looking forward to, I haven't seen her since I moved to London a couple of months ago now, so it will be lovely to finally see each other again and catch up! Anyway, today I'm back again with yet another eyeshadow palette...I know, it's a problem.

I've mentioned a couple of times on here that apart from neutrals, greens and purples are my 'go-to' eyeshadow colours, particularly for nights out. During the day I'm normally more drawn to neutrals (mainly as I'm always in a rush and they're the safest option), however when it comes to a night out with my girls, I love to play around with colour a bit and incorporate a few different shades into my look. Recently my dear friend Alyson sent me a little birthday package all the way from the States, which included this gorgeous palette from NYX. NYX is another brand which is fairly hard to get your hands on in the UK now that they've pulled out of Next, so I was over the moon to receive this palette, and the colour selection is perfect for me!

'Love in Paris' contains 9 shades which range from your standard light neutrals, to some more smokey green shades, perfect for creating a different take on the standard smokey eye. When I think NYX I don't immediately remember them for their eyeshadows, however I really do think that the quality of these is great for a drugstore brand. Some of the shades were a little more pigmented than others, particularly the darker shades, and some were also a little more powdery (again, the darker shades), however on the whole, the formula is pretty decent. It provides just enough pigmentation to create the desired looks, and blends out perfectly well - not too shabby.

Overall, I really do love this palette as a cute little drugstore palette. The palette is fairly small so would be perfect for travelling or for someone who is just getting into makeup and doesn't want to invest in any higher end pieces.

What do you think of this palette?

Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink

Wednesday, 16 September 2015

Hello Beauties! I know I sound like a broken record when I say this, but I'm genuinely so sorry that I've been a little MIA over on here in the past couple of weeks. I've really not been feeling too well, and that coupled with how busy I've been at work has really taken it out of me and left little time to blog. I'm still not feeling 100% so it may take me a while to get back into daily blogging, but thank you so much for still sticking by me whilst I find my feet again! A couple of weeks ago my lovely friend, Alyson, sent me a gorgeous package packed full of beauty goodies from the US. Both myself and Alyson have birthdays which are quite close together, so this year we decided to do a little beauty swap. Alyson really treated me and I was so shocked at how generous she was, I really was like a kid at Christmas - so thank you Alyson if you're reading this!

One of the products included in my gift package was the Milani Baked Blush in Dolce Pink, which I honestly couldn't wait to get my mitts on. Milani is a brand I've heard so much about, but up until recently with the launch of Beauty Crowd, they've been quite hard to track down at a reasonable price. Alyson did such a great job at picking the perfect shade for me, as Dolce Pink is the perfect shade for me. Dolce Pink is a warm-toned mid pink colour which looks gorgeous with a tan, probably down to the shimmer included in the blush. As the blush is fairly shimmery, this doubles up as a blush/highlighter duo, as theres definitely no need for any additional highlighting with this product.

The formula is something I really love about this blush, it's smooth and velvety without a hint of powdery-ness in sight, just perfect for creating that natural glowy look. The blush isn't too pigmented, which I actually like with this product. I think if the blush was any more pigmented it would look a little too full on with the shimmer and the added colour, so Milani have gotten the formula and pigmentation spot on with this product.

Overall, I love this blush, which comes as no surprise to me at all. It's a little too shimmery for everyday use as I do have fairly oily skin, however this is the perfect blush for a night out or when I want that dewy 'healthy skin' look. If you're a fan of baked products or blush in general (you guys know how much I love a good blush) I'd definitely recommend picking one of these up, they really are amazing for the price!

Lots of Love,

Becky xo

Happy Birthday Birchbox!

Sunday, 13 September 2015

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and are having a wonderful weekend, today I'm off for a spot of lunch with my brother in Piccadilly Circus, but before I head out I really wanted to get a post live for you all, as I've been a little vacant on here over the past week. I sometimes struggle to get all my photos taken and posts written now I'm working full time, and this coupled with being a little ill over the past week has just sent me right off my schedule! Anyway, I'm back today with an exciting post for you all...it's Birchbox's 5th Birthday! To mark the special occasion, Birchbox have put together a birthday box for all of their subscribers. Mine came through my door the other day with some balloons and cute little party bits and bobs, so today I thought I'd share my thoughts on what I received.

Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional License to Blot Sample - This month Birchbox have treated all of their subscribers to this cute little mini Benefit Porefessional blotting stick, perfect for popping in your handbag. I love the Benefit Porefessional line, so I'm excited to see how I get on with the latest addition to the collection. Plus, it's always good to get a sample of high end makeup before you splash out!

Bliss Foot Patrol Exfoliating Softening Cream - I'll be the first to admit that I completely skip my feet in my beauty regime, particularly during the winter as they're always covered up in boots and pumps, however, keeping your feet looking lovely (well, as lovely as feet can look) is something you should all consider. After all, if we all start treating our toes now, they'll be looking fabulous once sandal season creeps back around.

John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler - The next product I received this month was the John Masters Organics Citrus & Neroli Detangler. This isn't a brand I've heard of before, but as someone with thick and difficult hair, I'm always up for trying out new detanglers. This product can be used either as a wash out treatment, or as a leave in conditioner, so I think I'll save this for my next pamper tonight (probably tonight!).

Birchbox Egg Brush - This month's 'lifestyle' product was Birchbox's take on the tangle teaser. I'm not the biggest fan of these brushes as I find the bristles a bit hard on my scalp, but this one is a handy size for popping in my handbag in case of any hair emergencies!

Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip  - This month I also received another makeup product in the form of the Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip, which is a chubby lip and cheek stick in this gorgeous rosy pink colour. Once again, the small size of this product will be perfect for popping in my handbag, for touch ups on the go.

Paulas Choice Skin Perfecting BHA Liquid - Paula's Choice is a brand I've heard countless american YouTubers mention for the amazing quality/price ratio, however I was unaware that we had access to these products in the UK. I'm a little worried about using this on my skin as I normally get reactions to similar types of products, so I don't think I will be trying this, just to be on the safe side. However, I do think it's great that Birchbox are including some american brands.

What did you think of this month's Birchbox?

Lots of Love,

Becky xo

The Autumn Lust List

Tuesday, 8 September 2015

It's no secret that I'm really excited for Autumn/Winter this year, so much so that I actually had to stop myself buying Christmas bedding in Primark yesterday - it is only September after all. Whilst I love London in the Summer, there's so many exciting things London has in store for winter - skating at Somerset House, Winter Wonderland, pretty fairy lights in the trees, etc so I'm sure you can see why I'm so looking forward to it! I'm not quite ready to start rocking A/W makeup looks yet, and after my 'moving house' clear out I don't own too many Autumn appropriate colours, so I thought I would put a little wish list together to kick the season off and maybe inspire you to create some beautiful A/W looks.

Nars Dual Intensity Eyeshadow in Himilia - I love a shimmery eyeshadow so it's no wonder this offering from Nars has made it's way onto my lust list for this season. Now I have a limited amount of time in the mornings to do my makeup I often look for 'one wash wonder' colours for my eyes, because I really don't have time for shading and blending at 6am, and this shade from Nars looks like it would work wonderfully on it's own as an everyday colour.

Urban Decay Naked Smokey Palette - Sticking to the eyeshadow theme, I'd also love to get my mitts on the latest 'naked' instalment by Urban Decay. When I first saw this palette I wasn't too fussed, but now the weather has started to get colder I can see that I really do *need* this in my collection.

Dior Marsala Nail Polish - Marsala is set to be the it colour this Autumn, and whist it's not a colour I'd really pick for my makeup, my nails can definitely be on trend. I adore this shade of marsala from Dior as it's more of a pinky burgundy colour and would work really well for everyday.

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb - Okay, so this is probably more of an 'all year' product, but most of my fragrances are overtly summery, so I really am in need of a more autumn appropriate fragrance, right? This one may be a little pricy but it's one of the only scents which actually last on my skin and I love the sweet flowery smell of this fragrance.

Philosophy French Vanilla Bean Shower Gel - When the nights get colder there's nothing I love more than curling up in bed after a hot shower, and as I find the smell of vanilla extremely relaxing and comforting, I had to pop this on my wish list. I'll probably never get round to purchasing this as I can't bear to spend that much on a shower gel, but if I were to treat myself (as if I don't do that enough already!) then this would definitely be up there.

Nars Blush in Deep Throat - Oh Nars, you and your naught names! Childish giggles aside, this really is a beautiful colour. The rosy peach shade would be perfect for autumn and the rosy glow it creates is beautifully natural, so this would be perfect for everyday wear.

Benefit It's Potent Eye Cream - I don't know about you, but my eyes really suffer in the winter. My dark circles and puffiness take on a life of their own, probably due to having to wake up when it's still dark and cold, so I definitely need to invest in a good eye cream to combat this. I've tried a couple of samples of this so I already know I love it, I just need to remember to pick it up next time I'm at a Benefit counter!

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream - When the weather gets colder, you skin really suffers so it's important to protect it. I've heard wonderful things about this moisturiser from Kiehl's and so far I've loved everything I've tried from the brand.

Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation - I'm currently really unhappy with all of the base products I own and am on a hunt for the perfect foundation. I've recently been hearing a lot of great things about the newly launched Magic Foundation from Charlotte Tilbury, so I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before I pick one up!

Bobbi Brown Corrector & Concealer Palette - Like I said, my eyes really suffer in the autumn and winter months, so I definitely need something heavy duty to brighten and conceal the area. I've heard wonderful things about Bobbi Brown concealers, so I will definitely be heading to a counter soon to check them out.

Which products are you lusting after for Autumn?

Lots of Love,

Becky xo

Fresh Flowers from Blossoming Gifts

Sunday, 6 September 2015

Hello Beauties! Since moving out and getting my own place, I've been really into buying little decorative pieces for my home, and also having fresh flowers around more often. I think they really brighten the place up and just make it a lovely space to come home to after a long day at work. So when Blossoming Gifts asked if I would like to try out their flower delivery service, I could hardly say no.

I had a browse through all of the different bouquets from their flowers by post range and finally decided on the white rose and hydrangea bouquet, as hydrangeas are one of my favourite flowers - you just can't beat that beautiful lavender blue shade. I also really loved the mix of the white roses and the purple hydrangeas as I felt that the colours worked really well together and would go with the colour scheme of my room, which at the moment is white, black and lilac. The flowers also arrived promptly and securely packaged so there was no need to worry about the flowers getting damaged on their journey to me. Plus, they also came with a little box of chocolates which went down a treat when I was watching XFactor last Saturday!

Blossoming gifts has a huge range of flowers, including summer bouquets, flowers by post, and also cheap flowers which are all priced at under £20, although they don't appear cheap at all. There's also a delivery option to suit everyone and every schedule. For example, I managed to get mine delivered on Saturday morning as I knew I wouldn't be working or out with friends, which was brilliant for me.

Overall, I am seriously impressed with Blossoming Gifts, they're by far one of the best flower delivery services I've used and the flowers lasted for around 10 days which I think is brilliant.

Lots of Love,

Becky xo

The Cosmo Blog Awards 2015

Saturday, 5 September 2015

So the blog awards we all thought had disappeared are back and I personally couldn't be happier! I think blog awards are a great way of recognising the amazing talent we have in the blogging community and appreciating all of the hard work that goes into making a blog the best it can be. People often forget how much time and effort goes into running a blog, we have to be a photographer, content creator, editor, html wiz and so much more.

I know this is a complete long shot, but I would be so grateful if any of you chose to vote for me in the Cosmo Blog Awards for either best in beauty (or possibly best use of photography as some of you always leave lovely comments about my photos!). I know I don't really deserve it after being so useless with my blog recently but I'm trying my absolute hardest to get everything back on track, and a nomination from even just one of you would mean the world to me.

There are SO many amazing blogs out there which I will certainly be voting for, so if you don't want to vote for me, you may want to give one of these other ladies a chance....Pint Sized Beauty, Porcelain Beauty, Tea Party Beauty, The Beauty Vanity, Sophia Meola, A Yellow Brick Blog and so so many more!

You can vote for your favourite bloggers here

Lots of Love,

nspa Skincare for Oily Skin

Thursday, 3 September 2015

Hello Beauties! I'm constantly banging on over here about my oily/acne prone skin and the skincare products which I've found to be brilliant and maybe not so brilliant, and today I'm back to share with you the latest collection of skincare I've been using to try and banish the oil.

nspa Fresh Apple & Zesty Lime Face Wash

When it comes to cleansers, I'm pretty picky. I have a select few which I like, but I've never really found anything which I've loved, so I was hoping that this was going to change that fact. Firstly, I could hardly review this without mentioning the scent at least once. The whole range carries the 'fresh apple and zesty lime' scent, and I absolutely love it. It's very citrusy and fresh, which works really well first thing in the morning when you need that little extra something to perk you up. The formula is quite thin and runny which I found odd for a gel, but it foamed up nicely and left my skin feeling fresh and clean. I probably wouldn't rely on it to wash my makeup off, but for a second cleanse it does the job. I didn't notice any real change in my skin or my breakouts when using this, so I'm not so sure of it's claims to control oil and reduce breakouts, but like I said, for a second cleanse it's perfectly fine. Overall, I liked this, but I didn't love it, as I noticed no real change in the look and feel of my skin.

nspa Fresh Apple & Lime Face Scrub

I love exfoliators and scrubs, I probably use them way too much, but I really can't get enough of the stuff. I do however find that my skin is very sensitive to them, so I have to be careful which ones I use on my skin. At first, I loved this scrub...it smelled great, it felt like it was doing something and my skin felt smooth after using it, however I found out pretty soon that my skin didn't love this as much as I first thought, which is usually the case with scrubs. Unfortunately, this was a little too much for my over sensitive skin and I came out in a bumpy rash, but if you're not so sensitive, then I'd definitely give it a go.

nspa Fresh Apple & Lime Moisture Cream

Although my skin is oily, it's also dehydrated. This means that when picking a moisturiser, I have to use something with both controls the oil but also hydrates my skin, which is no easy task let me tell you. I did like this moisturiser though, it didn't sit on top of my skin or leave my skin feeling greasy, and it did help reduce the tight feeling of my dehydrated skin a little. However for me it didn't really do enough to beat my Clinique Moisture Surge, which is a shame as I was hoping to save a few pennies!

Overall, I did like the range, I just didn't love it, which isn't really enough to make me repurchase the products. I think if your skin is only slightly oily or combination and not as problematic as mine then this will probably work well for you, but if you're skin is difficult like mine then it may be worth investing in your skincare a little more.

Lots of Love,

Becky xo

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer

Wednesday, 2 September 2015

Hello Beauites! I've said it before, and I'll say it again...foundations are my weakness. I cannot help buying excessive quantities of foundation in my never-ending quest to find the perfect base, and sure as day, as soon as payday rolled around, I was on the look out for a new base product.

After watching millions of reviews and first impressions on YouTube I finally settled on the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer, as it sounded just like what I was looking for. The Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation & Concealer is a 2-in-1 liquid foundation and concealer, which promises full and flawless coverage for up to 12 hours. This foundation also claims to have smart technology which tailors itself to your skin, adding hydration to any dry areas and absorbing excess oil if needed. This was the main claim which attracted me to the foundation, I have oily dehydrated skin so I often find that foundations targeted at oily skin are a little too matte and drying for the dehydrated side of my skin, so this combination sounded perfect.

The foundation comes in 21 shades, however I did struggle a little to find the perfect match for my skin. I ended up going for the lightest shade, however it is a little too dark for when when I've not fake tanned, so I think this will definitely end up being a summer foundation for me. It's a real shame that the foundation doesn't come in any lighter shades as I know a lot of people just won't be able to find a match, which is disappointing from such a large brand. Clinique do say that you should expect the foundation to go on a little dark at first, and that it will adapt slightly to your own skin tone after a couple of minutes, due to the rich pigments in the foundation, however I still found it to be a little of the dark side.

Another interesting thing about this product is the applicator. Instead of your standard pump, this foundation comes with a giant doefoot applicator. When I first heard about the applicator I was worried that I'd be sat at my vanity for ages dotting my foundation on, however the applicator really is huge so you're done in no time at all. The idea behind the applicator is that it allows you to easily control how much foundation you're applying and can be used to pin-point areas where you feel you need a little more coverage, such as around your nose and under your eyes. I actually really like the applicator after my initial reservations and find it's a great way of controlling exactly how much you're using - so there's no wasted product stuck on the back of my hand!

The first thing I noticed when applying this foundation was just how thick and creamy it is. I expected the foundation to be fairly light feeling as it claims to be a lightweight foundation, however this is definitely one of the heavier foundations I've tried, so if you hate the feel of foundation on your skin, I'd give this one a miss. However, if you're more of a full coverage girl then I think you'd love the formula of this. Unfortunately I found this foundation to be a little too thick and heavy for me personally. I tried applying it with different brushes, sponges and even my fingers however it always seemed to sit on top of my skin and look quite thick. I also found it quite hard to blend in as the formula was so thick, and it just didn't give the me flawless look that I was expecting. I have quite bumpy, uneven skin so I need a foundation that's going to smooth everything out and unfortunately this one clung to the bumps a little, highlighting them. The texture of my skin is something I'm very self conscious about, so this was a big no-no for me.

The coverage however, was something that I really liked about this foundation. I have a lot of acne scarring and redness on my face from years gone by, and this foundation covered all of that with ease, so it was a real shame that I just didn't like the formula. As this is a concealer and foundation hybrid, I've been mainly using this as a concealer to cover my dark circles and where I have acne scarring, and it's worked really well for this purpose.

Overall, I had big hopes for this foundation but unlike the other thousands of bloggers who seem to love it, it just wasn't for me. I am still using this as a concealer and the bottle will surely last me ages, so all is not lost I guess, it's just such a shame that it didn't work out the way I'd hoped.

Clinique Chubby Sticks for Lips, Cheeks and Eyes

Tuesday, 1 September 2015

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend! Working for an airport definitely has it's perks, one being that I now have access to duty free shopping which is great news for my makeup collection...not so much for my bank account though. On Friday I decided to treat myself to a few new goodies when I was in World Duty Free, and today I thought I'd let you know how I got on with this 'Pretty On Arrival' set from Clinique. Clinique first launched their Chubby Sticks a few years back now and have slowly been adding to the line over the past couple of years. That being said, I've never actually tried anything from the 'chubby stick' range - shocking, I know, hence the reason why I decided to treat myself to this set. 'Pretty on Arrival' is a World Duty Free exclusive so if you're flying anytime soon then you'll definitely be able to get your mitts on this, however if you're not there's no need to worry, all of the products are available separately if one of them takes your fancy!

The first (and the biggest) product in the set is the Clinique Chubby Stick for Cheeks in 'Amped Up Apple'. Amped Up Apple is a gorgeous muted rose colour which makes the perfect everyday blush as it's not too in your face, and gives you a really natural looking rosy flush. I'm not normally a fan of cream blush products as I find them a bit tricky to use, however I've really been enjoying this one. The stick applicator makes it really easy to pinpoint exactly where you want your blush, and the creamy formula blends out like a dream, so you don't have to worry about a patchy blush like you often get with cream blush products. I love this for when I'm having a minimal makeup day as it just looks so natural, so if you're into your more natural makeup looks, I'd definitely recommend this.

The next product I tried from the set was the Clinique Chubby Stick for Eyes in 'Lots o' Latte'. Being a big fan of neutral and smokey brown eye looks, I knew this shade would be right up my street. I'm a big fan of cream eyeshadows as I find they blend out beautifully and are great for when you want that 'smudged' look, however I find the pots/jars a little annoying as they really do blend better with the warmth from your fingers and dipping your finger into the pot is just a little unhygienic, so I love that this one comes in a stick form. I'd say the colour is pretty similar to 'On and On Bronze' from Maybelline, so if you liked that one, you'll definitely love this one. The creamy formula is comfortable to wear and the stick glides across your lids with ease, so no pulling on the delicate skin around your eyes. I don't have a bad word to say about this eyeshadow stick, and I'd love to add a lighter 'inner corner highlight' shade to my collection.

Lastly, the set also contains a Chubby Stick Intense for Lips in the shade 'Chunkiest Chilli', which is a gorgeous deep red shade. Most of you will probably know by now that red really isn't my colour when it comes to lips, however as Autumn is fast approaching (although you'd think we were in winter with the weather we've been having!) I thought it would be a good idea to have some more autumn-appropriate shades in my collection. Chunkiest Chilli is a deep vampy red colour which you can either wear as a full on red look due to the intensity of the shade, or as a light stain if you pat off the excess colour, which is probably what I'll be doing. I love the formula of these as they're so comfortable on the lips and also really moisturising. I'd definitely recommend these and at the moment I've got my eye on 'Supreme Sorbet' which is a gorgeous nude pink colour.

What do you think of the Clinique 'chubby' products?

Lots of Love,

Becky xo
