New Year, New Skincare with Estée Lauder

Monday, 4 January 2016

Now that the festive period has been and gone, my skin is in desperate need of some serious tlc. Weeks of over-eating all of the chocolates combined with a lot of late nights have left my skin looking congested and seriously lacklustre, not a great combination when one of your new year's goals is to start wearing less makeup. So in an effort to combat this I've been switching up my skincare routine to include a few of Estée Lauder's hero products, which I received as part of a gift set this Christmas, along with a few other makeup goodies.

Estée Lauder 'Take It Away' Cleanser

The first step to any great skincare routine is a great cleanser, and the Estée Lauder 'Take It Away' Makeup Remover Lotion couldn't be easier to use. The lotion is thin in consistency and melts into your skin like butter to remove every last trace of makeup without having a drying effect on your skin - something I've been especially grateful of recently, as my heavy party makeup has been leaving my skin a little more on the dry side.  I'd say if you're normally a fan of cleansing oils but are looking to try something a little more cream-like, then this would be perfect for you, as the cream has almost an oil-like consistency. The lotion smells fresh and pleasant, and almost spa-like making it a pleasure to use just before heading off to bed.

If you're a fan of some of those hard to remove products such as the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation or the Benefit They're Real! mascara then I'd highly recommend this product. I found that it removed them easily without me needing to rub at my skin or pull at my gentle eye area.

Estée Lauder 'Perfectionist' Firming Serum

Another product I've been putting on trial recently is the Estée Lauder Perfectionist Firming Serum [CP + R], described as their most effective wrinkle-fighting serum ever. The serum is said to significantly reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles with exceptional speed, due to its innovative CPR-75 technology. So much so, that 78% of the women asked said it immediately reduced smoothed the look of their lines and wrinkles.

If I'm honest, I found this serum to be a little too thick for my young skin, however it did smooth the appearance of my skin and improve the overall appearance of my skin when I used it. I just think for the time being, this product isn't for me as I do prefer lighter serums.

Estée Lauder 'Resilience Lift' Face & Neck Creme

Over the course of the party season I've been aiming to achieve that 'flawless base' look which I see littering my instagram feed, which for me has meant thicker, more long lasting foundations and although they're brilliant, I do find that they tend to be more drying than my usual base. Needless to say, this has resulted in my skin being a little more of the drier side, especially around my cheek area, and my regular moisturiser just hasn't been cutting it.

Whilst the Estée Lauder 'Resilience Lift' face creme is oil-free, it's made a whole world of difference to my skin. Since using this my skin has been feeling smoother in texture and a whole lot more hydrated, which has in turn completely cleared my skin up. The creme is also powered by Estée Lauder's exclusive photo-activated lift complex, which claims to immediately make skin appear more radiantly alive and firmer. Normally I'd pass this off as marketing-babble, however in this case it actually rings true, after applying the cream my skin does feel instantly firmer, smoother, and my pores and fine lines around my eyes look instantly reduced. I'm not sure if this would be the case with much older skin, as my fine lines are fairly minimal, but I've been so impressed with this that I'd definitely recommend getting a sample.

The creme also has an added bonus of SPF 15, making it perfect for daytime wear, and looks wonderful underneath makeup due to its oil-controlling and smoothing properties.

Estée Lauder 'Resilience Lift' Eye Creme

Something which has really been suffering throughout the festive season is my eye area. Heavy party-appropriate makeup has taken it's toll and this combined with a drying concealer (I'll have to stop using the collection lasting perfection concealer around my eye area!) have left my delicate eye area sore and a little dry, not to mention the bags I've developed as a result of all the late nights. However, this little wonder from Estée Lauder has completely sorted the situation out.

The eye cream is thick in consistency and can feel fairly heavy on my skin, as it is traditionally meant for older skin, so it's not something I'd usually go for (I prefer the thinner 'cooling' creams for my eye area), however it's been great over the past week or two at soothing my sore eye area. I think in the future this is something which I'd only swap into my skincare regime when my eyes were particularly dry or sore as I feel that it would be a little too heavy for daily use, however if your skin is a little more mature and prone to the effects of ageing then I'd expect that this eye cream would be just the one for you.

Overall, I've been thoroughly impressed with everything I've tried from the Estée Lauder skincare range. The results I've seen have been fantastic and the time it took me to see these results is unbeatable in my opinion. My skin was looking fresh and renewed within a matter of days, something I've yet to achieve from any other skincare brand. Although Estée Lauder skincare products are expensive, I completely see the value in investing in your skincare, so would thoroughly recommend trying out a few pieces or speaking with one of their skincare consultants to determine which line is best for you.

Lots of Love,

  10. I just tried the Resilience Lift Eye Cream and I have to agree with you, it's quite thick and I can tell it's meant for mature skin. I do enjoy thick eye creams at night, but I have to warm it up between my fingers before applying.
