Two New Benefit Cosmetics Launches

Saturday, 16 January 2016

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all well and having a lovely weekend. My new camera finally arrived this week, so I've spend the majority of today playing around with the settings, trying to get the perfect shot. I haven't quite figured it all out yet, so you'll have to excuse today's photos as I couldn't get them exactly how I wanted them - but I guess that's something that will come in time! If you follow me over on Instagram (@RDerbyshire93), you'll have seen that earlier this week I headed off to Borough for breakfast at the greasy-less spoon for the launch of Benefit Cosmetic's latest Porefessional products.

I had a lovely time at the event chatting to the Benefit girls and fellow blogger Vicki about all things Benefit and blogging. The breakfast was delicious and there was no detail unthought of, although I'd expect no less from the Benefit Digital Darlings!

The first of the new products is the Porefessional Instant Wipeout Masks, which come in this adorable little briefcase to fit with the 'spy gal' theme. The briefcase contains eight super clearing sheet masks, which can be used on your forehead, chin or across your nose and cheeks to eradicate large and congested pores - something I'm in dire need of! Unlike other sheet masks, this one comes with a little button you need to press to release the liquid into the sheet. Apart from being adorable, this also helps to keep the liquid inside the sheet mask as fresh as can be, making it better for your skin.

However, as much as I adore pretty packaging and innovative designs, it's the product inside that really needs to be tip-top. The Instant Wipeout Masks contain mushroom extract, known to help clear pores and has a menthol smell, so I knew the formula was strong as soon as I opened the mask.

But did it work? Unfortunately, I wasn't able to keep the mask on for a full ten minutes like the packaging recommends. I have extremely sensitive skin and this baby stung like nothing I've ever tried before - my eyes were streaming and I think I lasted about 2 mins before having to toss it away. That being said, even after only two minutes, my skin looked and felt visibly smoother, so if you've got a high pain threshold then I'd say give these a whirl but if you're a delicate flower like myself, then maybe stick to regular clay masks.

The second new release from Benefit is the Porefessional Matte Rescue primer and *spoiler alert* I love this one! At first I thought it was odd that Benefit were releasing yet another Porefessional primer as the first one is loved by so many, but after testing this one out all week, I can see why this is a must have. I often use the first Porefessional primer and whilst I do like it, I didn't love it, however the matte rescue is everything I look for in a primer and more.

The Porefessional Matte Rescue is a lightweight, water based gel primer designed to overpower shine and absorb surface oil, all whilst blurring imperfections and those pesky pores. The primer does exactly what it says it will, my pores looked pretty much invisible and my skin stayed shine free for about four hours longer than usual when paired with my Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation, making this the perfect beauty companion for long work days where I don't have much chance to touch up.

The primer feels extremely lightweight and sinks into your skin rather than sitting on top of it like the first Porefessional primer, and is extremely moisturising despite being aimed at those wishing to eradicate shine. So much so that if you've got oily skin like myself, this primer also acts as a daytime moisturiser and you all know I love a good dual-purpose product!

If you can't already tell, I adore this primer and I can see myself repurchasing it over and over again. It effectively keeps my skin shine free, fills in my pores without clogging or drying out my skin, and it smells divine. The Matte Rescue primer, along with the Instant Wipeout Masks are launching later this month, but if you can't wait that long, you can currently purchase them straight from Benefit here.

Lots of Love,

Becky xo

  1. I need to try both of these immediately! LOVE the packaging and the primer sounds like an absolute dream! Great pictures, too!

    1. Thank you Jodie, you definitely need to try out the primer! xx

  2. Both of these sound amazing, but of course it depends on what your skin is like! Shame the mask didn't work but the primer sounds amazing!

    1. Ah I know, I wish my skin wasn't so sensitive as I can tell the mask would work wonders just from the two minutes I had it on! xx

  3. These all sound like interesting products! Really love Benefit as a brand, one of my favourites for base products. I am especially intrigued by the Matte Porefessional Primer. I am a little worried that it might make my skin look too matte if I layered a matte foundation (my favourite type of foundation on top of it? I always get excited when Benefit release new products. I am hoping 2016 will see a new foundation because Hello Flawless has been a firm favourite of mine since I first purchased it three years ago.

    1. I love Benefit too and use a lot of their products in my everyday makeup! I use the primer with the Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation as I also prefer matte foundations and don't find that it makes my skin too matte. It makes your skin shine free without making your face look flat (god knows how they do that!), and by the end of the day you're left with a healthy glow instead of shine! Hello Flawless is one of my faves too! xx

  4. The primer sounds great, need to try it out my self!

  5. I've always been a huge lover of benefit porefessional and this new release looks dreamy! It's lovely to see a review from yourself in here because now I definitely want to purchase this. I need a good pore filling primer in my life.

  6. The packaging alone was enough to sell me! Shame it stung so much but the primer looks amazing. I've been searching for a new matte primer after the Rimmel Stay Matte on powdered up on my face.

  7. It's a shame the masks didn't work out for you, I think it wouldn't work well for me either since I have very sensitive skin lol..

  8. The Matte primer sounds like something I would love as well so I will definitely put it in my list of beauty products to try :)

  9. must try the primer! I already love the original version, this has now gone into my wishlist!

  10. I've never been a fan of Porefessional because I'm really not keen on the feel of silicone based primers, however I love the sound of the new one. I do have dry skin but once I apply foundation my chin likes to become oily and try to push the foundation away. At first I thought this probably isn't ideal for me but if it is moisturising as well then it might be just what I need x
