Adult Colouring with Liberty of London

Monday, 7 March 2016

Adult colouring books are everywhere right now, gone are the days when colouring was considered to be childish, as now there's an adult colouring book for just about every interest going. For a while I didn't really get the trend, and honestly I did consider it to be a little bit childish, until one day I came home to all of my housemates raving about their adult colouring books - I just had to give it a go.

Being as into fashion and design as I am, I knew I wanted something along those lines and the Libery of London book seemed perfect. The Liberty of London colouring book is fairly small and slim which was perfect for me, as I can pop it into my handbag for long train journeys back home..or the 10 hour flight I'll be getting on next month!

I've always been a fan of Liberty's prints and patterns, so the fact that each design is based around one of them is what really drew me in. As well as being able to colour in one of the patterns yourself, each page has a little bio on the pattern about when it was used and what inspired the print, which is what I really love about this book - I really feel like I'm learning something as I'm sketching away. Some of the patterns are quite delicate and complex which I can tell will take me hours to complete, but I don't see that as being a problem...as I previously mentioned, I've got a lot of spare time travelling to kill!

Despite what you may think, adult colouring really is an amazing way to take your mind off things. When I've had a particularly bad day at work or there's some things going on in my personal life, it's a great way to de-stress as you're only thinking about the pattern you're completing. As well as being relaxing, I've found it's also a great way to socialise. As a couple of my housemates also have their own colouring books, I find that it's something we can all sit and do together and we really appreciate each others work.

Overall, I'm now completely obsessed with adult colouring and I'm already looking into which book to buy next - I've found some great Vogue inspired books and some Parisian themed sets! The Liberty of London book is currently available on Amazon here or in selected WH Smith stores.

Lots of Love,

Becky xo

  1. I thought the whole thing was a bit silly at first. Then my husband got me an adult colouring book for Christmas. It really does work! I find myself so into colouring that I forget about the stresses and strains of the day.
