Anastasia Beverley Hills Liquid Lipstick in Milkshake

Monday, 2 May 2016

Hello Beauties! I hope you're all making the most of the Bank Holiday weekend..I know I certainly am! Anyway, whilst I was in America last month, one of the things I was desperate to pick up was the Anastasia Beverley Hills Liquid Lipsticks. I had a few shades on my list, but unfortunately every single Sephora in Vegas was either completely out, or only had a few shades remaining...something tells me they're as popular over there as they are in the UK! However, I did manage to pick up the shade 'milkshake', and in hindsight, I'm glad I only picked up the one as a start instead of going all in and buying 5 before I even knew if I liked them.

The ABH liquid lipsticks are long-wear liquid lipsticks, which offer extremely opaque colour payoff and a matte finish. Although they apply like a gloss, these matte lipsticks pack tonnes of pigment into every little drop. As a lover of more sheer and creamy lip products, this was a little bit of a shock to me and look a little getting used to, but if you love bright, bold lips then you're definitely going to love these.

I intended on picking up Pure Hollywood, which is the famous nude shade in the range, Lovely, which is a lovely medium, blue toned pink shade and Milkshake, which is the palest shade in the range. However the Sephora I visited was pretty well shopped, so I only ended up getting Milkshake which is an extremely pale nude-pink shade. Although the colour looks beautiful swatched, and exactly like the type of colour I'd love, it's just way too pale for my skin tone which means I rarely use this. I've been playing around with it a little and so far I haven't found a way to make this work just yet...but I think if you were a lover of reds and brighter colours, then this type of lipstick would be perfect, as the pigmentation and staying power of these lipsticks is unbeatable.

I would say that a lip liner is definitely required though. The pigmentation of these lipsticks means that they have a tendency to create quite harsh, sharp lines so a matching lip liner would certainly go some way to keep everything even and in place, alternatively you could apply these with a lip brush. Although these have a great doefoot applicator, a lip brush would definitely make these easier to apply, especially if you've got fairly thin lips like myself, as the applicator can sometimes be difficult to control.

Although the Anastasia Beverley Hills Liquid Lipsticks are all the rage right now, I'm just not sure the formula is for me. I much prefer my sheer or creamy lip colours, so maybe the glosses are what I should really invest in, instead of something so matte and opaque.

What do you think of the ABH liquid lipsticks?

Lots of Love,

Becky xo

  1. It's a gorgeous colour but I don't think I could pull it off, it would completely wash me out! I NEED to get my hands on Pure Hollywood!

  2. It is a pretty shade but definitely not one I think I could pull off x

  3. It's such a pretty colour but I am much more inclined to make up lip products with more of a sheen or gloss to them.

  4. I really want to try these but have no idea where to get them from x

    1. Hi Zoe, I'm pretty sure Cult Beauty and Beauty Bay stock them here in the UK :) x

  5. It's a lovely colour but I would never be able to pull of this kind of colour myself, but I do have the shade Carina and I love it!

  7. Formula aside, this is a rrrreally lovely shade! But yeah, I am not sure if I'd get along with the formula myself either.

  8. I've just gotten into liquid lipsticks and matte lippies so this is looking so good. I love the color you choose but too bad for the formula.
