Hello Beauties! I hope you’re all well and had lovely weekends –
although it’ll probably be mid-week by the time you see this (bad blogger, I
know…full time work means my days of posting every day are long gone unfortunately).
Last week I was lucky enough to be invited down to the ‘Tarte’s in London’
party in the very swanky Beach Blanket Babylon in Notting Hill and while I was
there I was fortunate enough to be able to take a look at all of the new,
just-launched, tarte goodies..and of course, I wanted to share my opinion with
you.
I’m starting with the new Tartist Lip Glosses as they’re by far my
favourite new launch and pretty much one of the only things I’d been missing
from my collection. There’s been so much hype recently surrounding the Kylie
Lip Gloss and the Anastasia Beverley Hills Lip Glosses but in my opinion, you
really don’t need them if you’ve got a couple of these in your collection –
they’re that good.
The Tartist Lip Glosses are a full cover glosses, meaning that the
colour you see on the tube is exactly what you see on your lips once applied,
much like the Kylie Lip Glosses. I’m a big lip gloss fan (if you couldn’t
already tell by the name of this blog) but my collection was definitely lacking
anything so pigmented in gloss form, as I’ve always been more tempted by the
clear, sheer glosses. Apart from the amazing pigmentation, I’m blown over by
the formula and longevity of these glosses. The long and thin doefoot
applicator means that the gloss applies brilliantly and makes getting right
into the corners of your lips so easy, which is especially important with the
darker, brighter colours. I also didn’t find any need to line my lips before
application as there was no fraying or patchiness, and I have to say, once they’ve
been applied they’re here to stay. I actually wore these on a night out
recently and I barely felt the need to reapply the gloss throughout the night,
despite the fact that I was eating and drinking all night. I’d say that on an
average day, you can get around 2-3 hours out of these glosses, which is pretty
good going for me as I’ve usually managed to wipe them off within the first
10mins of wear.
Swatches:
The collection contains eight shades in total, including a range of nudes and brighter red and berry shades:
- obvi - a light nude with warm undertones (perfect if you love peach blossom by MAC)
- double tap - a cool mauve shade and very Kylie Jenner-esque
- goals - a warm rosy nude and my favourite of the collection
- hella - a light pink nude, perfect for fair skin tones
- poison - a black plum shade, perfect if you love more vampy shades
- wcw - a beautiful true berry shade
- fave - a plum berry shade (I can see myself loving this during winter)
- slay - although this is named snap on the photo, slay is a lovely orchid shade
As you can see, the shade selection is pretty good considering this is a new launch, but I would have loved some more mid-tone and brighter pink shades, as there seems to be a big gap between the nudes and the brights.
Overall, I'm thoroughly impressed with these glosses, and I'd even go as far as to say they're the best that I have in my collection at the moment. At £14 (on the tarte website) they're not the cheapest gloss in the world, but as these are more along the lines of a glossy liquid lipstick, I don't think the price is extortionate. The good news is that tarte now ship to the UK, although shipping is pretty expensive (around £12) so if you're going to place an order I'd definitely recommend doing a batch order or teaming up with your friends to spread the cost of the shipping.
Lots of Love,
Becky xo

These are so pretty! I would love to finally try out Tarte! Every time I see a post I become obsessed with picking out some bits and finally trying it but I never seem to make it to the checkout! Hopefully I'll be able to pick up some for a better price in the states this year!
